Cometa Fenix not cocking, help

I was plinking with my Cometa Fenix, I cocked the barrel to load a pellet and the barrel wouldn't stay open. I thought the scope mounts had moved and covered the hole with the moving part so I removed the scope but it still won't stay cocked. I don't know what is causing it but I would appreciate any advice to help me fix it.

I disassembled the rifle once before to give it a lube job so I can take it down again if necessary.

Most likely a broken spring.

Did you make any trigger adjustments?  Cock the gun all the way down where it should lock and push the trigger blade forward.  Or push the trigger blade forward first. Been 3-4 years since mine did that. Mine won't always cock if I get the trigger to light.  [size=78%] [/size]

I am inclined to believe that you inadvertently created the proble when you disassembled and reassembled the rifle.  I would do it again and i would be really careful about making sure everything is going in or fitting as it should.  This just seems to be like the most probable thing, being that you recently opened it, so i would try that first.

I think he meant he has tore it down before, but not recently.  I had the same problem on mine when I had the trigger adjusted too light.  After it don't catch you have to push the trigger blade back forward to get it working again.  I have the trigger on mine very light as it is, but had it even lighter when I had problems.

Craymar!!! thank you!! I pushed the trigger forward and everything worked as it should. It seems that I had set the trigger too light, I am still learning how to finely tune the 2 trigger screws.

I was worried that it really was a broken spring.

Stija, I had disassembled and cleaned and lubed the rifle last year, and put a couple hundred rounds through it without any problems.

I guess there is no substitute for experience, thanks again Craymar.

Btw, I love my Fenix.

Your welcome and glad you got it working again.  Be very careful and hold on to the barrel while cocking and loading a pellet after adjusting the trigger as the seer could let go right after you cock it and loosen your hold on the barrel causing the action to slam shut.  Only happened to me when I set the trigger to light. I had it were all you had to do was breath on that second stage at the time which was too light anyhow.  Good reason to follow the about rule of holding on to the barrel while cocking and loading a pellet.
