FWB 124

So an older gentlemen called me last month about working on a couple of air guns for him, we finally were able to get together last night.
The first one was a run of the mill Crosman B19 type Springer, nothing special about it, bent cocking arm due to no lubricant and a rough cocking slot, about two hours later I am rolling cans in the back yard with it...

Now the second gun is in a leather soft side case with real sheep skin lining. He had said it was an old German gun, Fienwerkbau sport, he said it quit shooting about 20 years ago and has been sitting in the case ever since.

I get it home and start a little research before I crack it open, turns out this thing is like the Holy Grail of air rifles, late 70's model FWB-124, first production Springer to use synthetic seals and break the 800 fps barrier.

I took it out of the case, removed the factory installed leather sling, removed the stock and pulled the action. The piston seal was powdered from sitting in whatever petroleum base goop they used back then. The metal had a slight tinge of mold that I cleaned off and oiled up to keep the rust away, the stock also had the same coating of mold so it got a bath also some oil.

Not figuring I would ever see one of these German beauties let alone work on one I don't have parts for it but luckily ARH has them in stock, hopefully by this time next week I will be shooting a piece of AIR RIFLE HISTORY....

It has plenty of pictures and I don't think that there is a better step by step guide to either help
you do an upgrade or just see what is inside your FWB 124.

I hear the new rifle is a big disappointment.  Very expensive and just a pretty good shooter...

I had Scott tune my 124 up and could not be happier.

They are a lot of fun!  I love me some German springer!

Does your only have a washer on the right side of the breech block? Mine had rubbed the blue off the left side.  I saw a parts diagram and there appeared to only be one washer. Some cold blue fixed it right up and a bit of moly and I hope it won't be a problem anymore.

This one has a flat washer on the left side and spring washer on the right, this keeps the barrel tensioned.

You can tell time was taken machining the piston. The trigger looks like it might be simple.
