I have stopped using the DVR to make videos and used it just to kill some rats. Thanks to you guys I was able to get the rats that I couldn't get without NV.
Anyone have an idea on the best way to add sound?
Its a DVR but the mic was inside the bullet cam, and this one does not have a mic
Nope , its this onehttp://www.ebay.com/itm/FPV-5-DVR-Monitor-with-5-8ghz-Wireless-Receiver-NO-BLUE-SCREEN-/272356161769?hash=item3f69b138e9:g:NgEAAOSwSv1XlLtJ
The replacement power splitter cable came today so I could finally power-up the camera and the screen at the same time connected to each other. Holy smokes am I impressed. My son and I tried it in the hallway at the back of the house. With all the doors closed it is pitch-black. I turned on the the power and the light from the LCD screen was enough for the camera to pick up some faint details. I turned on my IR flashlight and it lit up like high-noon and I could see everything in amazing detail. I'd take a picture of the screen but it wouldn't do it justice. I can’t wait for the DVR to arrive so that I can capture some photos/videos.

I did have two questions that I don't see in these posts. 1. Did you take out the IR Filter on the camera or did it not make a difference? If you did remove it, how does one do it without damaging the camera? 2. How did people mount the monitor on the gun? I did hear some who used a picatinny mounted upside down but a closeup picture of this would be helpful. I am really excited to get this built and to start using it to do some pest control at night. Thanks everyone for contributing to this post. It's been able to save me $600 bucks (I was very tempted at that ATN X-sight II but glad I didn't buy it).
Yup there it is. Thanks so much. Here are a couple pics of it mounted on my mrod. I'll report back when the ir torch comes in. It is a tiny bit more expensive, but I was just being lazy and didn't want to order all the parts separate. I'm sure there is some other people out there that feel the same.
Tonights outing with my setup.
