So Im interested in buying a Flying Dragon but need info from those who own them... They look good and decent priced but how do they perform?? FPS/FPE? Varies by gun I know... Im sure this isn't the first request for info so if there is another thread on these if someone can point me in the right direction that would be helpful...thanks

Yep, there are LOTS of threads about FD airguns. But, you have to be more specific, like which model. Mike tunes and sells springers, PCP's and Co2 airguns.

You cant beat Mike for bang for your buck. I have one of his full tune XS46U's in .22, with one of the Rex brand scopes that he sells. I love the gun.

Larry,

I can, with no hesitation whatsoever, recommend a FD rifle. I am most familiar with the springers that
they sell. The quality, fit, and finish are solid. You're not getting a Diana at that price point, but they're nothing
you should be embarrassed about either.
While you're at it, get the gun tuned. You will be REALLY pleased with the results. I bought the XS28M
last year, with the full tune, and you couldn't ask for anything better. It hits like a hammer, (25 FPE) and is
lights-out accurate at 50 yards. Everything I've read says that a 'magnum' springer is the most difficult rifle
there is to shoot accurately, but when I want to hit something, this is the gun I reach for.

Like Dave said, which models are you looking at? I can give you numbers from my springers and one of my FD PCP's in .177 in it's current configuration.

I have a second FD PCP with a new 22 barrel but I bent the valve poppet trying to stake the brass end on trying to fix it's leaking. I couldn't get it true enough to seal over the weekend. I ordered a new one from Mike so I'm hoping it's waiting at home for me today. :-)

From what I know from my understanding in matching similarities in power and function. The XS25 (Ruger Airhawk) compares to a Diana 34 (TO5 trigger). The B26 compares to a Weihrauch HW 95 (Beeman R9). The B26 did come out with two different compression tubes. The XS28 compares to a Diana RWS 350. Not sure if this is something that may help.

Hey Larry, welcome to the GTA. I think the best thing you can do is call Mike and talk to him. He is a very nice guy and can answer any question you have to get into this hobby of shooting.

Unfortunately, the issue with the FD PCP has NOT be resolved, at least not transparently. I keep asking about it because I want to be able to my guns safely, but there is no answer yet.

This is unfortunate because apparently a third-party investigation was completed, but not made available.

Also, the FD PCP safety checklist that was being developed has not yet been issued. I know that RSterne developed guidelines for thread dimensions on the airtube, but it's not clear that this is all of the information that should be part of a safety check.

I really think this should be resolved before the forum starts, without any caveats, recommending these guns. It would be different if the investigative work had not be accomplished, but in this case it apparently has, so the results would be best used if they could be provided to the community.

I have one Gen. 1, in .22 (Down not working, was leaking out overnight and had problem with Loosing air after the shot, had to DRY fire until it would reseal, so It is apart and that was when this deal all started so I've NOT looked at it since and have just been waiting for?)

and two Gen. 1.5's, in .177 that are both still working and being used once in a while .

It's built well and all metal. I have not been spoiled by a german springer so I really can't compare them in fit and finish. It's long lol. I think the B26 is the perfect size but is maxed out with .177.

For .25 shooting at 900 fps it most likely needs to be a pcp as the springers have to be bigger and require more effort to cock.

I almost pulled the trigger on a .25 Marauder from Amazon when they had them for $399 last week. I was able to talk myself out of it... this time. ;-)

The Sumatra is supposed to be great in .25 but it's more money than the Marauder and much louder. I'm not sure if the Marauder can match the Sumatra's power though. Others with experience can chime in.

If you had it to do all over again, would you buy another FD rifle, or would you save and pony up for something else?

Honestly, I love the simplicity and robustness of a springer. They require less maintenance and can be brought to ready in 5 seconds. They do have their limits though. They are not as powerful as pcp's and they need more effort to shoot their most accurate.

I have been bitten by the pcp bug. Are they perfect? No. Sometimes they leak and there's more stuff to go wrong. I can't tell you how many times I have had my pcp rifles apart to tweak this and that to perfection or solve an air leak. Sometimes they frustrate you and you want to be done with them.

But, when they're working like you want them there is no better satisfaction. :-) I like tweaking and tuning. I think it's a big part of this hobby. Some people want a rifle that just works and requires no maintenance. I need to customize.

That is why I have both styles. So to answer your question, what would I have done differently at this point in time? I would have bought the B26 and the B51's all from Mike. I do like the Daisy 853 but I haven't shot it much. So we'll include that one too for now. Mind you the B51's are under construction lol.
