After lunch today I decided to install a camcorder mount on my .177 Discovery and take a ride to the duck farm to see if I could nail a few starlings. It was raining and snowing so walking around the farm was not an option so I opted to slowly cruise the farm in my truck and try to get close enough for some shots. The yellow beaks were there and very spooky, but I did manage to get a couple of shots and even managed to drop one bird,, plus I got to log in some more time practicing with the rifle cam. Hope ya like the video..

Nice vid, and cool set-up.
How about giving us some more info on the camera you are using and why.
And also a few good close up shots of your camera mount would be
greatly appreciated.

Ray, the camera is a Sony model # HDR-CX150 and the reason I'm using it is because I bought it as a Christmas gift for my wife this past December and it's the only camcorder we have

As for the rifle mount I'm using it's real simple... I installed an Accushot mount on my scope in the upside down position. The locking shoe of the mount is used to secure a weaver rail which slides in upside down. The holes in the weaver rail were drilled larger to accommodate my cameras tripod mounting screw. Works like a charm.

Here's a couple of closeup pics.. you'll see how simple it is but it's very effective.

Great shot. I love connecting on those little marauders. You should double team them...one guy on each end of the farm in pop-up style ground blinds.

There's only one other guy who hunts the duck farm with air rifles, he's a friend of mine who used to work for me before I retired and we used to do just that. We'd separate, get in our hiding spots and between the two of us we'd keep em on the move which gave us some good shooting. Problem is my buddy hasn't been shooting at the farm in a long time now so I'm the only one there shooting the birds. It's ok though because in just a couple of weeks the large spring flocks of starlings will be descending on the farm like they always do and once that happens I'll have non stop shooting for the entire spring, summer and well into the end of November. The numbers of starlings at the farm once the large flocks move in is really staggering and they stay there all day long attacking the grain feeders.

Thanks Gene. I'm really enjoying learning how to video my hunts. I'm really looking forward to videoing my g-hog hunts,, just have to wait for the g-hogs to become more active.
