Squirrel Scope Cam Action w/ .177 Mrod

I was able to get a neat shot angle on this video using my gopro in conjunction with my scope cam.

As an interesting side note, check out the scopecam footage quality difference between the first couple of kills and the last three. In the last three you can see the pellets. All of the shots were done in low light. The difference is that the first two shots were done in .MOV format on my camcorder. The rest were done in HVC/H.264. Although the .MOV files are many times larger and are at a higher bitrate, the HVC/H.264 captures more detail.

I would imagine with the pellets traveling pretty fast in the Mrod, the barrel gets dirty every 500-600 hundred shots or so.

My guess is that I have to clean the barrel about every 500 shots or so. I don't shoot pellets particularly fast out of the .177 (850s for light JSB RSs). However I don't usually give the barrel particularly thorough cleanings either. Just a few passes with a brushless bore snake. It keeps the barrel a little bit lubed with lead. HOWEVER, on this particular occasion the barrel was so dirty I decided to use a brush. It opened up the groups on my JSB RSs but tightened up my groups on Predator Polymags, which previously have never shot well out of my gun. I'm hoping that the JSB RSs will tighten up again into single pellet groups after the barrel gets sufficiently leaded up. Yet I'm glad I can now use Polymags.

As to the last one, I've been there. We've all been there, right?

I was doing a heart/lung lineup on one in a low tree, and he just moved a bit right as I pulled the trigger. Caught him high and severed his spine just south of his shoulders. Did the same things your did, dragged himself off at a pretty quick pace, but he couldn't keep that up for long. Stopped after about 20 feet and finished him off with one to the top of the head.

I've watched this video a few times now and re the first one w/the gopro using that camera's mic you can barely hear the rifle report. The smack of the pellet is many times louder. This is why I want a quiet hunting/pesting gun so that the gun itself doesn't scare off the remaining prey.

Yes it is very quiet. This is with an SSG installed. Often my scope cam perspective gives an inaccurate gauge as to how loud or quiet a gun is.
