How do Winchester 9.8 gr Dome Pellets shoot in a RWS 34?

Have any of you tried out the 9.8 gr Winchester dome pellets in your German Springers?

I have been trying out a number of pellets in my RWS 34 (.177 Cal). I have tried all pellet weights for H&N domes, Air Arms (JSB) domes, JSB Superdomes, and Crosman Premiere domes. For now I settled on AA 8.4 gr, which consistently give me sub 1/2" groups at 30 yards (most groups are 3/8" or less). The only issue I have with the AA 8.4 gr is that the groups open up to 3/4" at 40 yards and 1" at 50 yards.

None of the heavier pellets (~10.5 gr) I have tried produce groups as good as the 8,4 gr AAs. I would like to try Winchester 9.8 gr pellets in my RWS 34, but I would like to find out if any of you have tried them. I would also like to know what the ballistic coefficient is for this pellet.

I don't have a 34 but I have used them in my pistols with good results, they also shoot very good out of my Relum Telly which I just restored. They seem like good quality pellets, I just ordered three more tins, have not tried them in my 350 because I  thought they were around 7.9grs.

 Hey Fred, 1' group at 50yds is pretty darn good shooting. both my 34s 177 and 22 are PG2 tuned and that's what kind of groups my guns are getting. and I'm very happy with that. my 177 loves JSB or AA 8,4gr. and my 22 love JSB or AA in 14,35gr.  The only way I can get my groups smaller is to grab a PCP.

  1"@50!  I would be very pleased with that, too.  To do any better may require sorting, sizing or lubing pellets, perfect conditions, ability to read wind, an excellent marksmen (sounds like you are), and never forget that some barrels may by chance shoot better than others.  For a spring rifle at that price point I would say wow.   Shooting indoors will shrink your groups.   

 For a real measure of bc, you need to shoot through a chrony point blank and at your desired downrange distance, measure the velocities at each  and calculate the bc for your barrel, as every barrel shapes the pellets uniquely.  The AA 8.44 have been real accurate for me as well, in different rifles, the hn ftt have shown the best bc at 50, though slower out of the gate, in my Fwb 124. I haven't tried the pellets in 9.8 grain.

Thank you guys, for your input. I think the challenge is that my range is fairly well protected by trees from the wind out to 30 yards. Beyond 30 yards it is somewhat exposed to wind.

I have a .177 Beeman R9 and a .177HW95 and neither gun will accurately shoot the Winchesters I bought at a Tractor Supply store.

Winchester pellets have a better reputation for economy than accuracy.  It's worth your while to stick to quality pellets such as JSB (and the Air Arms Diabolo Field pellets made by JSB) and H&N FTT.
