Air gunning magazines?

I've got a military (USN) deployment coming up and would like to have a few air gunning magazines to take with me to read during the "down time." I'm particularly found of springers so would like a magazine that covers more than PCP. Any recommendations? Thank you.  Alan

Try a search for "airgun hobbyist". If you do a general search, there are a few older magazines floating around that you can download. And a few books, also.

There are several U.K. publications devoted to airgunning.  They are available to download by subscription or to purchase singly.  Among them are the following:  Airgun World, Airgun Shooter, and Air Gunner.

I've read Airgun World at B&N a few times (and appreciate the editor's sense of humor). I've never seen a full copy of Airgun Hobbyist, but would generally prefer an American mag because the ads, and often the articles on guns because of power restrictions in UK, are more relevant to me.

So my question to those who have read both - which do you prefer between the UK and US magazines, and why?

And of the UK mags, do you have a favorite, and why?

I can see myself spending a few subscription dollars in the near future as well.

I pickup Airgun World at Books A Million most every month.  Enjoy the articles and reviews.  Great adds, multiply pounds by 1.5 for dollar compare, lots of eye candy. Info largely oriented to hunting/pesting.  I recently subscribed to Airgun Hobbyist and was a little disappointed with the first issue, seemed like this issue at least, was oriented more toward FT and lower quality production, plus only quarterly.

One common complaint about UK airguns magazines.......they rarely put in a negative comment about any gun. We know most guns have shortcomings, but you pretty much will never know reading the UK mags.

Hi Alan: I have a regular column called Airgun Advantage and do feature articles in Predator Xtreme, write frequently in Fur Fish Game, have frequent articles in Airgun Hobbyist (only dedicated US AG magazine), occasionally in Whitetail Journal, have articles coming this year in NRA American Hunter and Outdoor Life, and in the UK AG magazines do a monthly in Airgunner and have frequently published in Airgun Shooter. For full AG only it's going to be Airgun Hobbyist, Airgunner, Airgun World, and Airgun Shooter.

My Predator Extreme subscription is just starting, I also get Outdoor Life. I will look for your stuff. I know Tom Gaylord sometimes (pretty frequently) has stuff in Shotgun News.

And here is a bonus to you magazine junkies: Freebizmag!  http://freebizmag.tradepub.com/  I got set up with these guys several years ago. Basically, you tell them what industry you are connected with and give them your contact info so you can get snail mail SPAM. In return, you get many opportunities (at least one every week or so) to get free magazines. They email an offer about a free mag, and you can just click through and fill out the blanks if you're interested. Currently at our house we get Popular Science, Predator Extreme, Bowhunting, Outdoor Life and Popular Science, and Family Circle, and I didn't pay a dime for any of them. I read them and pass them to my buddies or leave them at the doctor's office.

It seems like all magazines are like that these days. They are too afraid of losing advertising dollars/pounds to ever dare say anything slightly negative.

I agree with DarryH, I've subscribed to both UK mags mentioned and they indeed never say anything too negative about AG's. However, the pictures and specs are pretty good.

Airgun World been ruining since I was a teenager, I used to buy it when I was a 14 year old kid just just getting started, yes and I'm  past 50 now and still learning.  It's covers reviews, hunting and collecting. 
Airgunner is aimed at mainly at newbies and people coming back to the sport.
Airgun World is available on- line. Just down load the app in the Apple store. If your interested you can read issue  Nov 2015 free of charge as a sample.
Another easy read is the book - The Airgun Hunters Year by Ian Barnett. It gives an accurate account of a year in the life of an avid airgun hunter. I also found this in the Apple IBooks for IPad store.
Last but not least -
You have most likely all read this, but if not, my all time favourite hunting book is Peter Capstick Death In The Long Grass. Very well written, amusing and also sad at times.
Brilliant book by someone that has been there and done it!
