A Question of Barrel Lock Up ?

My new Hatsan has good side to side lock up, but I can micro, and I mean micro move the barrel up and down, maybe .003 to .005  thousands

It wants to stay up but it does not fit solid, it can mini micro move, if I push it down lightly

Is there an adjustment I can do ?

Ya, did that back in the day, maybe it just need a few hundred shots to wear in the pivot angles,  like I said the side to side is fine and the up and down is JUST a ^$%# hair loose ... I will shoot it as uch as I can this week to see If I notice a change. i need to get rid of some the grease too and the section is loaded.

Maybe a touch of burnish compound would do it on the high side which would raise the barrel up.

You'll have to take the rifle out of the stock to do this, but you might try tightening the barrel pivot screw. It's on the left side with a small locking screw next to it. Take both out, clean the threading really well, loctite both and re-install them.
I was going to add cleaning really well around the barrel locking pin to make sure there's no built up gunk around it but you already mentioned doing that.

I have discovered that my Hatsan didn't get any thread lock coating when I did the Factory Bulletproof option. The last time I shot the groups weren't as tight and I thought I was sensing the barrel a little loose by the safety but I convinced myself it was just the safety knob itself moving around. Nope. I could shove the barrel ever so slightly right there and because I've run into this before on my last AG I checked the trigger mount screw and sure enough it was 3+ turns loose. Checked the scope mount screws and they were loose too. So I took them all out, cleaned them w/bore cleaner (that's all I had) and coated them w/blue locktite and will let them sit 24 hours before I shoot. I put 600 pellets through the gun since I got it and that's all it took to get that loose. I'll check again in about 300 pellets.

 I have a hatsan striker 1000s that is brand new and does the same thing,i am returning it for another rifle.i do not think I am getting a hatsan.that problem will only get worse as it gets shot.

By the same token it may wear itself in too. If you look and see how the mechanism works it is designed to wear in, the factory just needed to wear it in a little more before shipping ;- )

  i have another post on the subject with pictures and other members are telling me there should be no play up or down/side to side at that pivot point and there shouldn't be.there is no play in my Benjamin rifle.i was told to return it by members here.i may try another hatsan striker 1000s but i have read on this form that other hatsan rifles are the same way.
  i feel that it will not wear in but only get worse.just what it is,it is a barrel lock up and should be secure not sloppy.

   well I not wiggling anything,when I shoot it I noticed the barrel moving after the shot.i grabbed it and there was play in it.there should not be any play up or down/side to side.
  maybe you scared if you wiggle it it will wiggle.so lets put it this way if it moves when its locked in its not a quality rifle and needs replaced.

Mine will move that much if I apply pressure yes.
As I'm not applying pressure when I shoot?
I'm not having any issues.

Breach seal shim needed, could be...  is it too late to return it?

Tissue test can check for air blowing past, groups will string vertically if not locking same place between shots (if scoped).

Don't agree if screws come loose loctite won't work - depends!!!

If can't return it, best to do a careful inspection and try to determine exact cause - could keep you from doing extra work or fixing it twice.  How does plunger feel, is pivot tight, alignments look sensible...  just spitballing

That is huge! My Webley (made by Hatsan) doesn't do this. Something is not right there. Can you return it?

My Hatsan 125 is excellent side to side but vertical lockup is less than perfect and I believe it contributes to vertical stringing.  I removed the barrel, lock pin, and spring and installed a stronger lock pin spring and polished the pin.   It improved it noticeably but it still takes just a little impact to see minor movement of the breech block at the frame tube contact point.  I'm looking into making some type of positive lockup system to install, possibly something like the Walther LGV uses or maybe something on top of the breech block to the frame.

Well I don't get any vertical stringing as I'm careful on the lock up, I may need to make adjustments and dykum the lock up mechanism to see where it is not making contact or ?

My right and left movement is rock solid. my up and down is just about 5 thousands or so !

Spring is compressed and needs to be pulled so it will apply pressure or replace the breach seal. Either way it would take out the play in barrel. If an over sized seal is used you'll end up needing to shim the scope. That's my guess.
