What's better, replace the original sear by an aftermarket one or polishing the original sear and trigger contact surfaces, use lighter sear spring with a guide, etc...

Polishing and all that will help and it's a cheap fix. I can't comment on aftermarket sears but if you want a better trigger look into the 1701/ p-rod trigger mod.

Polishing the metal to metal contact points, adding a tiny dab of Moly grease, and shimming the side play will do wonders for the factory trigger.
Then over compressing the stock spring and using a spent .22 rimfire brass as a spring guide is a very popular "mod".
That may be all you need to do to be happy with it,.. and it's basically Free to do.
Give that a try first, you will certainly see a huge improvement.
Then, if you want to move up to a adjustable 2 stage trigger group, you can get the 1701P trigger group for about $40 from Crosman parts dept.
If you do want to upgrade to the 2 stage, you will also need to either modify the stock hammer/striker to a smooth sided, (JB weld putty is one way to do it), or replace it with an aftermarket one.

polish, lube, shim, .22 brass ontop. Also I found (when cut down to size) the tube of a some ball point pens make a great spring guide.
