Titan NP.22 trigger adjustment

Is it possiable to adjust the pull stroke on the trigge? i know it say the trigger can be adjusted but before I go and start messing with it what exactly is that the adjustment screw is doing ? How heavy the trigger is or how long of a pull before firing? the manual is not very clear as I have 3 the of the same manual in different languages and not 1 of them is in english.

That trigger swings through a long arc without touching anything else (the so-called "first stage").  When it finally comes in contact with the other parts it can be either be far from the release point, or right there - depending on how the adjustment screw is set.  The adjustment screw pre-stages the sear, which means when you cock the gun it could be "hanging by a thread."  Since the trigger blade swings through much of its travel without touching anything else, that also means it needs its own return spring.  That makes the trigger a little heavier than it needs to be.

I would highly recommend a replacement trigger like the the GRT-III over playing with the factory adjustment screw.  It costs about $40, but in my opinion it's worth every penny.  It's easy to install.  The installation is amply documented, so you can see what you're getting into before you buy.  The trigger blade contacts the other parts (intermediate strut and sear) right from the start of its swing, and the first-to-second stage transition is marked by a leverage change.  You get full sear engagement, and the extra trigger return spring isn't needed.

You will probably find references to other trigger mods using a couple of washers, or maybe a small bearing.  Those fill in some of the space before the trigger blade actually does something, but sear engagement is still set by the adjusting screw.  If the washers' outer diameter is large enough, they can do the screw's job and position the sear (with less than full engagement).  Either way, for me the replacement trigger is a safer choice.

There is no adjustment to make the trigger pull easier.  The difficulty of pull is controlled by a spring in the trigger mechanism.  It takes a lot more expensive gun to gain that adjustment.

If you opt for a trigger replacement from charliedatuna.com it will make the pull easier because the spring changes things.  Just check the website out carefully and order the correct trigger.   Crosman guns used to all take the GRT III.  Some newer guns take the CBR instead.  Look at the lists and drawings.  Do not be afraid to ask for help - either here or on their website.  It is best not to order the wrong trigger.

Honestly, the factory trigger isn't worth your time trying to adjust it. Bite the bullet and order the GRTIII Tuna trigger. Say goodbye to squeezing the trigger forever wondering when the rifle is gonna fire.

If i'm understanding everybody correctly,there's no real adjustment for when the stock trigger breaks? I can't adjust the length of pull? Mine seems to fire right at the end of fully pulled back, I can't adjust it to break at half pull? Is this understanding correct? Or am I just not listening? I'd like it to be more of a short pull.

Never shot a high end gun with a good trigger the 5X8X2mm bearing is good enough for me. Smooth cheap and easy to install.

Chad, the only way to do that is with a CDT GRT trigger. You will be amazed at the difference.

I modded my trigger with a rc bearing and that was probably the nicest, crispest trigger of all of my AGs and possibly my firearms.  If you search youtube, there are video's posted and it costs under $10.  BTW, the Trail NP and the Titan NP have the same trigger setup.

takes a couple simple tools, about 20 minutes and turns your trigger into a real 2 stage adjustable one. Nothing like the high end rifles with match grade setups, but wayyyyy better than what came in it and only $33.

I agree, all of my crossman style triggers i have added the bearing. Its so quick and simple and no need to wait for any parts. I had a whole stash of these bearings from my R/C car days and all of the triggers ive put them on all feel the exact same so gun to gun has the same feel.

I've installed the 5󭅆.5 RC bearings on my Trail NP synthetic and my Crosman Fury ll Blackout. Both triggers are identicle with 1/4 inch pull and the safety works fine. It takes about 15 minutes all up and has transformed my guns and improved my accuracy. The standard triggers just gave me fits.. now it's like I have different guns. Great MOD.

I know this is an older thread but I read it several days ago and decided to try this trigger mod. 

I purchased a new in the box Benjamin Titan NP, 22 cal, with a wood stock about 12-15 years ago after a couple of multi-pump pellet rifles in my life, Sheridan Silver Streak in 20 cal (??) and a few lesser, kids toys. 

I tried everything to get it to shoot straight but it would not keep the shots on an 8-1/2 X 11 paper target at 30 ft.  I tried everything and read everything, different pellets, different holds, rests, clamps (there's only so much you can do with a single stroke), learned the hard way about the pinned scope, got into barrel harmonics, tried various weights and locations on the barrel, tightened all the bolts and screws, but never did get it sorted at all.  Gave up, swore off single strokes as inherently inaccurate, moved on to PCP's where I was having a great time ever since.

Then a week ago I came across something on Youtube about the Titan trigger mod and then found this thread with more info and thought about the old beast downstairs and decided to give it another go.  It's amazing how something like that can bug you for so long.   

I ordered the little RC bearing(s) on Amazon and they showed up the next day.  I also ordered the CDT GRT trigger for good measure.  Then I found the old Titan where I had left it, dusted it off, and a few minutes later had the RC bearing installed, set up my lights, target, backstop, and shooting rest in the basement and then started looking for my 22 pellets (everything else is .177 or .25 now).  Quick trip to wally world and I was all set.  WOW, was I ever so pleasantly surprised!!  Within 10 shots I had it hitting in a quarter size circle on the bullseye at 30 ft. 

The CDT GRT trigger is on the way, should be here in a few days.  Looking forward to trying that too.  Then finding some good pellets it likes, washing, cleaning, culling, and weighing should bring that group in tighter yet.

It's just amazing that a simple little mod could make such a difference.  And, its nothing to do with the little part being a ball bearing, it's just acting as a spacer.  The right size washer would work just as well, but the bearing is perfect, ID, OD, and thickness.
