.25 caliber pellets in Hatsan break barrels

I asked about this in the Hatsan Edge thread but thought more folks would see this here. What pellets are you guys using in .25? I bought 3 kinds to try in my new Edge Vortex. H&N Baracudas, JSB Kings and Benjamins. At this point I'm concerned about how they fit in the breech. The 'Cudas will literally fall unless the rifle is pointed down when cocking. The JSBs fit fine and the Benjis are ok. I'm talking about fitment here not accuracy but I'd like feedback on that as well. I'm going to sight it in this weekend. Anyone try Beeman Crow Magnums? Thinking of getting a tin from Amazon.
Packard 8 has VERY kindly offered to send me a few different ones to try. He's a gentleman and a scholar!

Mine seem to favor the JSB Exact KIng Diablo, H&N Crow Magnum and H&N Baracuda Hunter Extreme. Only ones I had trouble with were the H&N Excite Coppa Spitzkugels, those seem to have sizing issues and ranged from falling out to almost too tight to fit. Haven't tried anything else but always open to suggestions if you find something good I'm not already using.

I just ordered a tin of Beeman Crow Magnums while I was getting the Monstrum dovetail to picatinny adapter. Thought I'd try 'em.  I have a hunch they might be made by H&N since they're exactly the same weight as the H&N Crows & they're "Prime" so no shipping charge for me. Also  ordered Tom Gaylord's book "BB Guns Remembered". It's $10 free shipping (Prime) from Amazon and $10 plus $8 shipping. WHAT! That's crazy! The book can be sent media mail for peanuts. Should be a fun read for an old fart.

In my .25 Hasan 125 my best groups were an almost tie between polymags and H&N Crow Mags.  At longer ranges the Crow Mags open up but the polymags not so much.  I tried the Benjamin Domes & JSB exacts too.  They were about the same, so-so, with the Benjamin's being cheaper and readily available they are my plinkers.  Polymags are almost double $$$  so I don't shoot them often.

I tried the Baracudas too - I seem to recall they did not make the grade as potential for reordering, but what doesn't work in mine might be best in another's... You probably already know the lower BC specialty hunting rounds tend to open groups quickly as range increases beyond 10 to 20 yards?

I'm not sure I've ever heard anyone say the Hatsan's had an issue with pellet loading, and not many airguns in general!  I'd research that if the rifle is still in the return or warranty period.  Is it only with one pellet?  I'm not sure what else to ask - imagine me at a loss for words

Thanks for that Steve. With the way they drop into the Cuda Hunters I expected them to be all over the place. They weren't. Right on the money, at least at 50'. The JSBs fit was "Goldie Locks", not to loose not to tight. I'm thinking the Beeman Crows will fit well since PAs catalog shows them, the JSB Kings and H&N Crows all with the same head diameter. I know about the hunting pellet range thing but the Edge .25 will only be used for closer range. The loose fit is actually the same for the Cudas & Benjis.
Couldn't be happier with the Edge Vortex so far, especially since after discounts and gift cards I had at PA it was about $65 plus shipping.

Everything I shoot is inside 30 yards and all 3 work great for it. Only time I go farther is when I get in that "hmm...I wonder" zone and go farther...which isn't easy as I live in town. Thankfully, I live on a dead end street and the back fence borders on a drop down to a creek so from front of driveway to back fence is 149 feet. The holdover with at least JSB's out at the 149 is something like 1 1/2 mildots and the last time I tried it, I ended up having quite the discussion with a local cop...seems one of the neighbors thought my 95 was a .22LR...on the upside, he was impressed with the 95 and I got asked not to play in the street....felt like I was 12 again...sheeshhhh

I also got the Spector...out of the box, no cleaning, no tweaks, open sights tweaked for 20 yards...I still gotta work on my open sight shooting but I didn't think I did so bad....now for the tweaks..

I have the Hatsan Vortex Edge in .22 and I love it ... I'm getting an honest ~750-765 fps using CPHP and Piranha pellets.

Was thinking of getting the edge in .25 caliber .... what speed are you getting and does it at the lower speed hit harder ..... JSB 15.8fps are going out at ~725fps out of my gun. What about the trajectory of the slower moving pellet in the 600fps range ?

Ran strings with the above 3 pellets in mine and they all chronyed out right around the 560-565 mark which should give you about 18fpe. The bigger pellets hit harder and have more shock force and mine are flat deadly inside the 30 yards I shoot.
I've always considered them seriously lucky shots, but my Vortex 95, same powerplant as the Edge took 2 racoons and 2 wood chucks with the Crow Magnums and head shots at a touch over 20 yards, anything smaller is no contest with a good head or heart/lung shot.
Farther than 30 yards, I haven't seriously tried except for paper targets and they drop quite a bit at that range. Don't honestly know if they'll take out a pest at that range either as I've never tried.
Great rifle though and for the price, I'd say get the .25, plus there's ways to make them shoot better. There's a couple threads posted on trigger mods and filling in the hollow stock to help with the echo in your ear when you shoot.

I just received some H&N crow magnums & FTTs in .25 caliber from John (packard8) that he very generously took the time & paid the postage to send. THANK YOU JOHN! They both fit fine in the breech of my .25 Edge as opposed to the Baracuda Hunters that will fall out if you keep the rifle pointed up when loading. Just shot a couple of each out my back door, hope to see how they shoot tomorrow.
John, you must have connections with the Postmaster General! You just made the offer last Friday and they arrived from California to Michigan today, Monday!  Amazing!
Oh, btw--they don't fit worth a darn in my Model 95. I grabbed it and tried to load each kind and the thought went through my head, jeeze I hate to tell him these won't fit at all! Then a light bulb lit up. My 95 is .22 caliber............. Duhhhhh!

Try the Gamo PBA 14.4 g pellet and it will surprise you @30 yards. I used them in my 135 and 150 wich crony at 1050 fps or 33 fpe. I have shot them out to 100 yards and hit 6" targets.  They are the cheapest caliber PBA pellet at PA.

Interesting, 6" hits @ 100 yds is pretty impressive. I've always read that ultra light pellets can be hard on the power plant, as the piston slams pretty hard at the end of the cycle.  I usually shoot targets to 50 yds, and critters within 30 yds. I'd be concerned that a harder alloy PBA .25 @1050 fps would go right thru a nutter and keep on going!

14.4g is not really ultra light, that's why they shoot well.
