My new Crosman 101

I know I posted I wasn't going to buy anymore air guns this year but my new Crosman 101 came in today. It doesn't pump up. It was bone dry and probably hasn't been oiled in years. Cosmetically it's in good shape and has a "crinkle" type finish. It has a round receiver and 5 ring cocking handle. I dont have the tools, time or skill set to reseal it so I'll have to find the time to ship it somewhere( probably Baker Airguns). It'll be after Christmas before I can find the time to ship it.

Whatever you do,  don't mess with the crinkle paint. That's a fairly rare bird.

Thanks Longhunter. I didn't like the crinkle paint but it's growing on me. I just wish I could shoot it! I'll send it off after Christmas.

When you say it doesn't pump up,  you do realize that you have to cock the gun, first, right?

Yes, I cock it first and I've put Pell-gun oil on the wiper on the pump arm but still no joy. It was completely dry when I got it and I had to oil the bolt to get it to move. When I open the pump arm all the way I can hear air being (not good) into the compression tube. I cannot hear where it's leaking out when I pump it though. I'm guessing the seals are dry rotted.

When I first saw pictures of 101's they looked "clunky" or awkward. But when I finally saw and handled one that an acquaintance owned, I knew I had to have one. They actually are elegant rifles. He has three and they needed seals too. They looked great though and had a shiny black finish.
Mine has a kinda grayish colored finish that I don't particularly care for but it's growing on me. Besides if it ain't broke don't fix it.

Thanks Longhunter! I'll do that. I was looking at the krinkle paint and I think someone sprayed over the old paint which was flaking off. I feel like an idiot because it took me 4 days to figure out. I looked at it wih my reading glasses instead of my rose colored glasses and didn't like what I saw.
 I cocked it, put my thumb over the end of the barrel and gave it a couple of pumps. When I moved my thumb I got a puff of air. I'm guessing the exhaust valve is leaking.

    Hey Mark, you have a great gun on your hands!! I love my 101 and 102 once you get her repaired remember to store her with a couple of pumps of air. Cock your bolt pump her up decock her by holding the hammer and pressing the trigger. Then back off your hammer spring that knob at the back give her a few left handed turns. I have stored mine w/o shooting her for over a year. When you are ready to use her again. Tighten the knob back up. Ready for play time!!!
