.50 or .45 which one

Trying to decide which one to get. I know both guns are powerful so accuracy up to 50 yards may be the deciding factor. Im really leaning toward the 50 right now since its the biggest of the Sam Yang models. Eventually, I'm sure I will have them all but for my first one, I'm a little torn. So what's the real deal between these two rifles. I've read and viewed all the reviews and I'm 50/50.

.45 has better ammo selection, is more efficient and gets flatter trajectory. .50 is overstretched in relation to the powerplant. If you plan on actually shooting things get a .45, all the 100M silhouette shooters here choose .45 over .50 when they get a Sam Yang.

I think the 45 is a better choice, I own both and if I had to only have one I would get the 45. They seem to have the same power plant so the 45 shoots better in my opinion.

I vote .45 also. And own one of my self. When tuned You get more power out of .45 than .50 , and like others just mentioned, better bullet selection...

What are you getting from a tuned 45 and 50? I looked at the saddle mountain site and saw the numbers that he posted. Are you guys getting those numbers on average? I'm steadily moving away from the 50 with the idea of getting the other gun in a few more months. I shoot but I like to collect more than anything.

When I was buying my refurb single tube sam yang at PA I would have gotten a .45 if they had one . So I bought a .50 ,and I am very happy with it . Only complaint I have is the heavy trigger . I even like the fill probe that every one seems to dislike
Shoots .500 188 grain round balls very well . took a doe last Sunday morning with it at around 50 yards .For ammo it cost me about $100 to get set up to cast round balls .
If your wanting more power than a stock sam yang imo I'd buy something else instead of messing with getting a sam yang tuned . The waiting list is quite long and you end up spending about the same as a texan when all said and done .

What are you getting from a tuned 45 and 50?
When I got my .45 back home from fellow who tuned it he gave me this numbers:
.457 roundball 142 grain 1.902 FPS 2. 895 FPS 3. 895 FPS 4. 876 FPS 5. 860 FPS 6. 840 FPS max. 355 J
.457 SWC 217 grain 1. 731 FPS 2. 741 FPS 3. 777 FPS 4. 771 FPS 5. 757 FPS 6. 738 FPS max. 393 J
He attached Hatsan bt65 airtube on my 909 S to increase air capacity.
I haven't tested heavier bullets but I think if I use let's say 242grain FN I could possible get more than 393 J

I have a Will Piatt tuned 909s .45.
With 155gr EPP-UG from Mark Whyte, I get close to 900fps for 3 shots. That's about 280fpe. He did some great work on the trigger too, and while it is not the same as my motorhead tuned marauder trigger, it's perfectly suitable to hunting.
Sighted in at 50 yards, with a 2" kill zone, PBR is 0 to 58 yards, with the first mildot at 75 yards. Perfect for deer in Missouri woods.

I spoke with Will, and he told me what he thought about both guns. He said the 50 has no issues at shooting golf balls at 50 yards and it has plenty power to do what I want to do with it. I did get on his list for a tune because I would like to get the full potential out of the gun. Plus the cool factor of having a 50 had something to do with my choice of the Dragon Claw being my first big bore airgun. Of course after talking with will and considering some of the comments posted, I'll be getting a 909 within a month or two. I really like the out of the box performance from the Texan but it doesn't really appeal to me like those Sam Yangs. UUUHHHHHH, decisions decisions.
