i grew up in New jersey and i always hated the gun laws.

I think there are quite a few of us forced to make do with a garage, basement, or attic.  It's not ideal but it beats not shooting. 

I have a permanent 5 meter range and can quickly setup 10 meters when everyone is in bed    Grab and R7 and some very small targets.

is there no way to set up on your own property where you cant be seen or heard? even if you built a small privacy fence or section just to block the view. while a little bit of investment, it will be there at home for future shooting practice.

and maybe get a good quiet gun for shooting at home?  thinking more long term.

i have a qb78 that i have made quiet that i can shoot in my apt. when no one is home upstairs. not a lot of fun.  i rent in a 2 family house so i cant shoot in the yard. even if i could, the police would be on me  like white on rice as i can be seen from 3 sides. its pretty tight around here space wise.

about an hour and a half away. best deal around but still no plinking, just paper. kinda defeats the purpose of the air rifle if you ask me.

I miss the plinking as well.  I don't even use my Birchwood Casey spinner target in the backyard anymore.  Too loud compared to paper in my silent wood box trap, and over many tins of pellets, I worry that it might only take one miss at the wrong angle on the metal support frame to take out a neighbors window.  Lead pellets smoosh up pretty good and don't ricochet much at all, but I figured my luck would run out eventually.  Our suburbia quarters are just too tight.

yes sir i do i love it here. When i first moved here the gun laws were amazing to me.Seeing people walking around with guns on the hip was a little..different. lol...as a shotgunner and an airgunner I'm very happy with the situation in VA. NJ always felt very restricted to me and  I am glad to be free from it.

i understand. yea i like to shoot metal/reactive targets as well. guess paper is better than nothing. maybe NJ will come around one day.

I used to live in Jersey and one day I packed up my motor home and attached my car and just left. That was about 26 years ago and only been back once to pick up my tools and guns that I had left behind at friends homes.

I believe NJ is the only state that requires both a Fire Arms ID card plus a Pistol Permit (2 seperate ID's) to buy even the weakest BB Gun made.

It is illegal to shoot airguns within the city limits where I live. I just shoot out the garage door and into my shed. Gives me 20 yards to play with and nobody can see my rifle or the pellet trap
 (which has LEDs to light the target at night). No harm no foul.

it would be nice if i could just go off in the woods and shoot some tin cans but i'm pretty  sure  thats a no no here too...

I lived part of my life in NJ -- just outside NYC (paramus area).  Powder burner rifles, air rifles, and wrist rocket slingshots (not kidding) are all part of the same penal code.  If I recall correctly, they are all classified as firearms.

Thank goodness upstate ny isn't as bad as down there (but it still could be better).  One day, when the kids are all grown up and on their own, I'll probably look to move to another state where there is less restriction (and land is cheaper).
