That Diana is a great looking rifle!  How is the front sight?  Did it come with replacement inserts?  The "hog back" stock is a nice looking unit.

Mine is a Pro Compact.  So muzzle brake and no front sight.

Front sight is fine apart from the pointed front post. No replacement inserts but I am off to check the box again in case I missed something.

Perhaps you should try using a peep with that "Pyramid" (official name of the triangular front sight insert).
By using an iris and, if needed some lenses, you can get both the target and  the pyramid in focus, which allows you some serious precision work. As good as any 4X scope would.

Hector is correct as usual! I have a Williams peep on mine and IMO it's just great. I also bought a Daisey peep for a different rifle ,PCP, and it allows a shorter eye relief and costs alot less than Williams. It looks like a 10 meter rear sight. Crosman Challenger is also a rear peep to consider. I have one, it works fine. My FWB 603 has a peep of superior quality and you can search/buy used stuff from high end 10 meter rifles. If you go with Williams you need products that are designated FP.  The shorter eye relief is really not necessary IMO for general hunting and plinking, so I would recommend the Williams with optional Twilight and bigger aperture inserts.
I also bought a adjustable aperture to fit the Williams rear sight, it works like the F Stop on a camera. It's fun to play with aperature sizes and see how it affects depth of field.
Enjoy your Diana 340 N-Tec. I really like mine, I think the stock shape is unique/beautiful and best ambi on the market.

I gave up looking for a Diana 280. Instead in a moment of complete self indulgence I bought a Diana 340 with a beach stock. I have no intention of doing a review. There are plenty of those about. The rifle is a real beauty. So very nicely made and a delight to handle, a very good TO6 trigger. It is raining heavily here so I have cleaned the barrel and put a few shots out the shed door into the wood heap. With open sights it shows that the only limitation on accuracy is the ability of the shooter. The action is very much like the old D34 but the gas ram gives a very smooth discharge, quite snappy and a loud-ish pop. Easy to cock. I don't think the noise will be very loud at a distance from the shooter.
These rifles are very expensive in New Zealand. $799.00 NZ. It puts all the plastic Gamos and Stoegers in the shade. Open sights for the time being and they are good sights. Not plastic dayglow stuff. Real rifle sights.
 I am fizzing at the bung over this rifle and I just have to go and have few more shots.

"fizzing at the bung" must be related to "cracking good piece of kit". Since it's a Diana, I'd agree.

As for the pointed front post, I have the same on my 350's. I installed a Williams peep on my .177 350. The peep with the pointed front sight post is 'bang on' to quote the British. It really makes for a terrific sight picture. Great groups at 25 to 50 yards!
