I have a 2240 with the steel breech and Williams notch sight (and a few more add-ons ). My opinion? Definitely worth it! The steel breech is a must for stabilizing the barrel, and the Williams sight made the gun easier to shoot accurately, especially with the .177 LW barrel it now has.@ Vipersdad, I have five 2240 and they all shot very accurately the Crosman Premier Ultra Magnum 14.3 grains domed pellets with the original barrel. Also the RWS Hobby 11.9 grains wadcutters shoots very accurately. And I've left CO2 cartriges in my guns for up to 6 months with no issues whatsoever, just be sure to put a drop of oil on the tip before inserting it in the gun. HTH.Thanks for the info. I would assume that one should go with the longer steel breech? I think there are two versions, or perhaps I am mistaken.

Ribbonstone, I just ordered a long ss breech from Don Cothran and my 2240 has a 10" barrel, so you think that I should put the barrel band on right up tight to the breech? And if so what exactly do you mean by shimming it up? Sorry if I'm a little slow here.
With the Williams sight, how do you match the notch width to something like the Tru-glo front sight Dennis showed? With the stock rear sight it is easy to make a new plate.
