Yep, the volume after piercing includes all the air space around the cartridges.... so you end up with a couple less shots than you would if it didn't do that.... before the pressure starts to drop when all the CO2 boils to a gas.... Up until then, the pressure is still the same, and depends on the temperature, like any CO2 gun.... the cartridges are a close fit inside the tube, so really the only significant extra volume is at the ends of the cylinders.... You still have 24 g. of CO2 (12 per cylinder)…. Bob
