Needing Bipod Edjucation

I've never owned or considered a bipod really until now. I'm looking for one that attaches to sling stud, is well suited for Marauder off table/bench shooting, maybe a little prone shooting, doesn't cost nearly as much as the Marauder did.
I see that Atlas is probably top of the line but I just can't go there price wise for now. I see a clone but found some mixed reviews, of course most items do get mixed reviews. I see some $30 options out there but I think I'm to understand they won't let you cant the rifle to level it when your shooting surface is uneven. Then there's this Harris, picture below. Maybe it's a good compromise??? I'm all ears. I feel like such a newbie.

Well, I've been shooting my MRod and Disco off a Winchester branded bipod from Walmart.
Legs are adjustable individually for height.
Fits snuggly to the sling stud.
It does not pivot at the mount.
Only around $30 and fills my needs.
I don't shoot prone - too old and stiff the get up and down.
I shoot from my dining room table or a camera tripod.
My Talon wears an Air Force bipod, which pivots at the mount.
I've been trying to lock it into a fixed mount so the rifle doesn't fall over, as it is top heavy.
I don't get caught up into the quest for the perfect, unobtainable piece of gear that fills ALL possible needs.
I hit what I shoot at, that's enough for me.

There are LOTS of "Harris Clones" which some do, and some do not pivot. I have a few of them.
Blackhawk, Caldwell, and a bunch of others.
There are some that have both "pivot" and "traverse". (Traverse does left to right).
Personally I did not care for the Traverse models at all, and returned it for a pivot only model.
I DO prefer the pivot models over the non-pivot models.
I just ordered a couple of the "no-name" "Harris clone" types from Amazon for under $30
Amazon and Ebay both have LOTS of choices.
here's some past discussions, Happy Reading...

I've got that same Harris bipod. It's a very good bipod & the 6-9" size works fine for me.

I use the Blackhawk brand of Harris clone I bought from Walmart for $40. Works great on everything from my Disco up through my 30-06. After hunting antelope at 300+ yards and shooting from a seated position from shooting stix, I learned to shoot prone from a bi-pod. Yes, getting up and down from a prone position not worthy, (try adding high desert cactus to the equation...), but the added stability and accuracy is worth it.

Ive tried an UTG Tactical and other knock offs on two bullpups. Harris bipods are a lot better on surfaces that are not level like the hood of a truck/car and uneven ground. The knock offs I tried were ok for shooting off a table or bench. Whatever you decide on you do not need anymore than 6"- 7" for a table/bench.
The UTG Tactical is acceptable off a bench or table..

The Harris is what I would recommend over any knock off.

This is awesome. You guys are filling me in.
I'm confused by Harris terminology. If I wanted one that would allow for uneven surface would that be a swivel model? I'm thinking I like what I would call cant but I don't need pan. ALso like the notches on the legs. Does Harris HBRMS describe these features?

Harris has a few different models: The website has info on each.
http://www.harrisbipods.com/index.html
If you plan on using the bipod for a table or bench you can save some money with the solid base.
For uneven surfaces the HBRS is the one to get but costs about 35% more.
Below is a photo of the Harris HBRS.
