Has anyone mounted a scope, and when attempting to zero ....




                                Realized the scope is mounted backwards

I looked through the cheapie included scope before installing it. Not impressed then and not impressed after the installation and adjustments, either. OFF it went! And later into the trash.

When installing the Hawke Vantage, I also checked its orientation first. I've goofed enough times when looking through loupes to have instilled this habit.

Many years ago, when I used to hunt , myself & 2 friends went deer hunting. I had a 30-06 & a .243.  Yep. I took the 30-06 rifle & a mag with ammo for the .243. It was a 2 hour drive there so I let the other guys hunt while I just watched that nice Buck walk within 25 ft of me.

Well...the objects in question were PB, but the lesson is identical for any airgun, too:  Make sure your ammo matches the gun caliber.

If you realized the error in time, it's an almost-blooper anyway.

I did this recently.. couldn't figure out what was going on... oh, wrong pellets!

I learned.. if you load a gun with the barrel pointing down... and the pellet falls out the muzzle.... somethings amiss.

Or you could just wipe out a few sets of baffles until you figure it out... as me how I know this.

 I've angrily persisted at zeroing a troublesome scope, cussing and everything.
Then had it literally fall off because it was shot loose... ooops.

Bonehead move this morning....
Picked up a new valve/fill station combo for one of my MSA 60 minute scba tanks. I have one 30 minute 4500, one 60 minute 4500 and one fireman's breathing scba tank with a 3k max valve. It had less than around 2k in it so I decided to drain that one to see if I had the correct thread before dumping the 60 minute 4500 with 3.5k in it.
The threads matched the 30 minute so I dumped that target tank only to find different threads.
So to save stress on my Yong Heng compressor filling that tank from zero to 4300 I decided to just top my 30 minute tank up from 3700 to 4200.
Everything went well until time to shut down. I usually stop the compressor and quickly close the tank valve then bleed.
For some reason I closed the tank valve first. The YH quickly built more pressure and blew the burst disc.
Scared the poop outta me. First time ever popping a burst disc.
I replaced the disc and everything is fine now.

Make sure when steadying a pistol that your fingers are not in the line of fire. The original 1377 barrel does bite. The taco hold is okay for the long barrels but not the short ones. No, I was not SUI, I wish I was when it happened. It would have not hurt so much. The CPHP .177 left a heck of a trail through my finger.
