Chronographed the Marauder today

Thanks, Wes and Chris!  The GTA Fun shoots were good times for me.  I got to meet a lot of awesome people on here and put a face with their names.  Some of the highlights were being able to shoot With Lloyd Sikes and Travis (oldpro) among others.

I believe the marauder platform was too quickly disregarded due to the leaps and bounds the airgun world has made in the last three maybe four years. I have read a lot on the forums about people wishing they had never sold theirs. I took that to heart when I built mine. I have a 22 right now that will push 25 gr pellets 925 fps for 40 shots. That's not bad on a 215 cc tube. I'm also happy Tim is still around. He is a straight shooter. There's still a small list of outfits carrying aftermarket parts. And they are all good.

I’d have to agree with this. If they just refined a bit more on the platform and kept the line progressing in accuracy, consistency etc they could have maintained more market share.

Right now I’ve been thinking about compiling upper parts to have a “swappable to .22 slug gun” without storing another rifle just a barrel, and breech assembly. Of course that gets into a polygon lothar walther barrel and the machine work etc.

This is probably the biggest thing that compelled me to move passed the Marauder and on to affordable guns with more features.
Sure, there are tons of aftermarket upgrades available but all of them come at a cost.
I picked up a .25 AV Avenger a few years back when they stormed out on the market and it quickly became my most shot gun. I get 48 regulated shots at 40 fpe per fill. The trigger and cocking actions are smooth predictable. The only thing I've done to the gun is clean the barrel, adjusted the reg and stuffed a tea towel in the stock to deaden the hollow sound.
It's shoots my cast pellets as well as any pellet on the market (that I have tried) and that is a huge plus to me. The gun weighed less than the Marauder and I didn't have to spend $150 on a light weight tube to make that happen. And it comes in at near half the price of a Marauder.
Parts? What parts? Perishables? Yeah, they are available if needed including poppet and reg kits. If you are breaking parts beyond that you might want to check the quality of the gun you chose.
And, at least in my case, my AV is just as accurate as my MRod was...  YMMV.

I cock my two Marauders with just three fingers.  Thumb on the end cap and two fingers on the bolt.  Very easy to cock.  Stock would be even easier and practically effortless.  That said a sidelever would be neat, I think.  I kinda like the bolt action.

Your absolutely right Bill in that many lower prices guns with more features than the m-rod entered the market and people bought them. The avenger sounds like a mighty fine gun at a great price.
