I just ordered 5 more @ $6.99 + shipping ($10 ea.) I bought 2 a while back and was pleasantly surprised at the quality & clarity (they were $139.99 prior to closeout). They are a standard 1" tube, and have an unusual reticle set up for a crossbow with drop compensator lines calibrated to 300 FPS. They do have a standard center crosshair, so no big deal in getting used to them. I'll put them on the various cheapie AG's that I give away to friends & grandkids. Best $10 scope I've found!
PS: I put one on a Diana Model 52 .177 springer (known for eating scopes) and it is still holding up after 200+ shots.

Well that sux! Must be some legal BS going on, since they are also in Dixie.
-
Yeah I put 4 in my cart and it showed no shipping. I am going to send them an email asking why they can't/won't.
-
They state the former regular price as $17.97.

That was their previous clearance price. When I bought 2 several months ago I googled that model and got current prices from $99 to $139. This scope has been superseded by a newer model.

I own a lot of scopes, and believe me it is no $9.99 Tasco from Walmart, it is very bright, sharp and well made.
PS: The scope in the last Amazon link is the exact same unit, but in camo with rings included.
-
This unlike the 3 other Amazon ads posted is the same exact scope and it's $24.99 (Was $124.99). I am not doubting the scope, just making sure people know there are different models.

Yep, that's the same one, they're all over eBay from $20 to $52 shipped. Obviously the Mfg dumped a load of them when they came out with the new model. Jes' sayin'.....I have 2 and I've never seen a better scope for $10 shipped.
Do you know anyone out of state that could receive them and send them on to you? If not, the $20 shipped price on eBay is still a lot of scope for the $$$.
-
They replied with:
Our parent company is a wholesale only distributor, and they service the dealers in TN, GA, and AL. We have an agreement to not sell in those three states to protect the dealers. We do not accept retail orders that bill or ship to these three states at this time. We apologize for any inconvenience.
Thanks,

Can you check yours and let me know if the scope can focus down to 5 meters / about 16 feet? Thanks in advance!
-
The cheapest shipping I see is SmartPost (8-10 business days) - $10.82. That's to Illinois.
How did you get $4 shipping?

Thanks John. No scope for me. :(

I bought 2 last night for $25 shipped. $12.50 per scope to my door. I will try anything twice

The one I have now is about 6 months old with about 300 shots on a BAM3, and about 250 shots on a Diana 52, still going strong.
For $10 I'll roll the dice! ;)
-
Thanks for that information... That is allot of proof you just gave there. I think I will try a few myself,, I know the 52 has plenty of recoil...

I Think Natchez is just CYA, as they aren't "air gun rated" Hope it works out for you as it has for me!

Is the scope short enough for pistol? Can anyone tell me the overall length and how close they focus in to?

Is the scope short enough for pistol? Can anyone tell me the overall length and how close they focus in to?
It's not an LER scope, so not good for a pistol. When I get back to CA I'll check the close focus.
-
Thanks John.
-
Would like to see the view thru one.
-

Craig, I took a quick look and I can get the scope to focus at about 15' by cranking out the rear diopter ring, but in doing so the reticle goes out of focus. I'd say it is usable from about 20' out with both the target and reticle in focus.
-
Thanks for taking the time to check on that!

Thanks for taking the time to check on that!
I'm back in CA and zeroed the little cheapie scope on the Diana 52 @ 30 yds. It holds dime sized groups at that distance. I'm sure this scope isn't for everyone, but for the price I don't think you can beat it. I think I'll keep it on the 52 for now, as it is a lot shorter & lighter than the other BSA and CP scopes in the 12X-14X range I have. Out to 30 yds, 4X is good enuf for the backyard pests.

Interesting...according to two eBay vendors, the scope is made by Hawke.

YW, I think you'll be pleased. Just received my order and they are as good as the first pair. Very bright & clear, which is what you would expect from Hawke. If you Google "crossbow scopes" you'll find that they are also designed for "reverse recoil" like AG scopes.

I made an order a few days ago but didn't get a confirmation email. Did you guy get a confirmation email after you ordered?

Yes, the following day I got a confirmation email. Maybe the weekend is delaying yours. You can go to the website and check "your orders" and confirm that it is in the system.

OK, I'm in for two. Can't pass up a 4x32 Scope for $7.

Packard8, thanks for posting this deal - $12.50 each shipped for a pair of Hawke scopes is fantastic. One of these will go very nicely on my daughter's youth-sized Hatsan Alpha to replace the cruddy Centerpoint 4x32 that I have on there that really isn't very well adjusted to 10m. I may put the other one on my rather vintage Webley Hawk Mk. III that I haven't shot in a decade.
-
This is under the questions section on the Natchez site. Sounds like they were made by Horton until they went out of business, thus the low price:
Online, it shows this scope to have a regular price of $17.97, but in your catalog it shows the regular price as $99.99. What gives?
1 answer
The $99.99 price was suggested retail before Horton went out of business. The $17.99 price was what we were selling them at after we bought out the Horton inventory after they went out of business. The $6.99 price is what we are selling them for now.

Will work great with a pumper. But how far do you normally shoot? May not focus down close. I bought 2. Clear and bright at my typical pesting at 17 yds

My old Sheridan has a straight bolt, so it would need to be mounted a little high. My eyesight is getting poor in my right eye, & need a scope would help. Just need to be sure to get mounts that are high enough.
-
I ordered 4 .... They showed up yesterday.... Very nice for the money. Going to try one on a springer. If it holds up great. If it don't ... Oh well, but I bet it will. Fingers crossed
-
oh heck, I ordered 3 of them to replace the 4x15's I have on a couple low end rifles.
3 for 31$ (I chose the slow shipping) or 3 for 36$ is not a bad price per scope for some of my low end plinkers.

I bought 2 back in Feb. Gave one away on a little BAM3, the other I kept and it has about 600 shots on it, half on a Diana 52. Haven't had to touch it since I zero'd it and it is still holding POI. Hope your results are the same.
-
Ordered one for the HW30S I'm going to get here soon.

Got mine today. Thanks for the deal. It's short but fills a nice niche. Mounted it on a gas springer and so far so good. Only wish the crosshairs were thinner. Overall great deal.

JUST SO EVERYONE KNOW WHO BOUGHT THIS.
It lasted 4 (four) shoots on my gas rammed XS46U. Good thing I bought 2 to use the second 1 else where. Like a CO2 pistol. The recticle broke loose and is floating around inside the scope tube
-
So after disassembling the scope the reticle un-screwed from its holding point. I am trying to fix it just for the *(&^ of it
-
Onide - good to know, thank you.
I will be putting mine on low end pumpers and maybe a CO2 rifle, so should be ok. It may even hold up to a low power break barrel that I have.
-
Hopefully mine will hold up to an HW30S

Sorry to hear that Chris. One of mine has lasted more than 300 shots on a Diana 52. Let us know how your repair goes. At $6.99 it's not worth the postage to send one back for replacement.
-
Mine arrived yesterday and I opened all 3 boxes to check each one.
WOW, I was quite surprised at the feel of the scope. the image was very clear and bright on all 3 of them. I am quite happy with this purchase and would recommend them to anyone looking for a 4x scope
I checked them at about 15 yards and image was clear. I believe they can be adjusted even closer if one needs.

Glad to hear that. Although I have nothing to do with the vendor or mfg, I sort of feel responsible for the quality. I bought 2 in Feb, gave on away on a BAM3 cheapie (it is still going strong) and kept one, now on a Diana 52 for 300+ shots and hasn't broken (yet?). I feel the optical quality is first rate and hopefully they will hold up on your springers as they have for me. I've bought a total of 10 now, most will be Christmas "stocking stuffer" gifts to friends who shoot.
-
Should be fine on a springer- at least for a little while. Crossbows snap in both directions, too.
-
I thing any springer under 12 fpe (read: docile springers) should be fine. At least that's what I'm hoping for mine.
-
Mine showed up today. Seems like a decently made scope. I don't have any springers to torture test it but I might put one one an Umarex pumper.

I couldn't resist and ordered 3 a few weeks ago. Also ordered some cheap ($4) Tasco rings to use with them, total price came down to $15 per set (scope + rings), shipped.
A little review on the scopes:
-- Build quality is quite good. Not Nikon good, but on par with scopes costing $50~$100.
-- optic clarity is very good. Comparing to my Hawke 2-7x32 AO HD (low end model Hawke, around $70, bought from PyramydAir) set to 4x, this $10 Horton scope is at least as bright as my Hawke, and a bit more clear around the edges. The Hawke HD has noticeable "barrel" distortion around the edge while this Horton doesn't have that problem.
-- I bought these scopes mainly to put onto my low end single-shot PCP's (FDPCP, Bam B50/51, QB79), but it turned out that they are not very suitable for open-top single-shot breech-load pcp's: the eye relief is only ~2.5" so the ocular piece needs to be relatively close to the eye therefore the scope pretty much has to be mounted at the rear edge of the receiver/action. And being a short scope, the objective bell is then almost directly above the loading port, blocking the fingers movement when loading pellets. I can see these scopes being a good fit on a mag-fed rifle, or something with loading port further forward (springers, pcp arrow-guns).
Over all, very nice scopes for the very little money paid. I was so impressed I ordered three more.
*For those who can not justify the "high" shipping cost: if paying $13 shipping for three little scopes is too expensive, how about adding a Crosman MK-177 tactical multi-pump ($33.59, refurbished) to the order? Add the Mk-177 and guess what, the shipping is still the same $13. ;) I think this compact scope and the MK-177 will work great together (MK-177 uses the little 5-shot stick mags so is a mag-fed).
(the holidays are coming fast, a "mk-177+ scope" combo can make some (little/big) kid very happy)
*a less compact Horton 4x32 crossbolt scope is also available from Natchez at $8.99
(sorry, being a new member I can not post links, just search "mk-177" and "HMSS047" when you are on the Natchez site.)
-
Mounted mine on a 12 fpe tuned XS46 today. The eye relief is quite short, might need to get an offset mount. However, it survived through my afternoon of pesting. 16 shots fired and it held perfectly.
-
Nice review/write-up on it Kevin.

+1 good info, thanks for sharing.
should be getting mine today or monday.

Thanks Kevin, nice review. I have bought a total of 10 and none have grenaded yet. Just put one a recently acquired Hatsan 125/.25 (Known scope killer) and it has held for 50+ shots. Even sold one at a garage sale for $30....guess that pays for the shipping and more on the rest.....lol.
-
I tested mine out for a few dozen shots on my 125 .22, and it worked just fine, no issues at all.
-
$12.68 shipping to California for two scopes and 2 Tasco Scope rings. Total of $34.64.
Sitting on the fence. Stole my Bugbuster from my QB79 and put on my 909s. Want a cheap scope for my old Diana Model 27.
Hmmm

Hmmm
The $6.99 HM1101000 (the ones we are talking about here) might fit the 909 better. It is got that "multi-range ballistic drop" reticle designed for heavy projectiles.
The $8.99 Horton HMSS047 on the other hand might work on the QB79. It is longer than HM1101000, the objective bell might clear the loading port better. I got one coming, should be here in a few days.
* these scopes are of rather nice quality and deserve the "normal" ($10~$15) ring sets. The $4 Tasco rings are too cheaply made and I regret buying them (these rings do work but don't fit the rails very well, especially on the FDPCP).
-
There are various Horton scopes being sold at "clearance" prices, I did some "research" before ordering, might as well share the notes here:
(I have to say, the Horton stuff is quite confusing)
M11010000 (the model we are discussing here) :
--4x32, $7 from Natchez, also available else where.
--4-line reticle (plus a mark for max flight height) with windage marks.
--8.6" long, eye relief 2.5". Has quick-focus ocular bell. Good build quality and good optic quality.
SS047:
--4x32 $9 from Natchez.
--5-line reticle, no windage marks.
--10" long, eye relief 2.5" (?).
--This is an old model, according to the info on the web, it is not as clear as the M11010000 and ocular bell is not quick-focus.
SS066:
--4x32, 2.5" eye-relief
-- SS047 with lighted reticle?
SS300:
-- 4x32, $25~$35 shipped on ebay.
-- 4-line reticle with windage marks.
--8.6" long.
-- now the confusing part: according to the photo of the packages I saw on ebay, the horizontal packages claim 3.27" eye-relief, the vertical packages claims " constant eye relief at 4 "; the specs found on on-line sources claim 3.5~4" eye relief.... which one is it? They all have the same SS300 model # and I suspect they are exactly the same scope, just the Horton could not make up their mind on what # to print on the packaging.
-- it might be the same as M11010000 except with the more "normal" eye-relief distance.
SS310:
-- SS300 with lighted reticle?
SS320:
-- camo verion of SS300?
SS330:
-- 2-7x32, $50~$70 shipped on ebay.
-- vertical package claims 4-3" eye relief; horizontal packaging claims 4.55~3.88" eye relief; 4-line reticle with windage marks.
SS331:
-- camo version of SS330?
At this point the real good deal seems to be the $6.99 M11010000 (which we are already buying) and maybe the $8.99 HMSS047.
(If one can live with the short 2.5" eye relief, that is).

The scope were well packed, surrounded by packing peanuts and their catalog.

Included with the scope are lenses covers and a lenses cleaning cloth.

One thing I like about them is you don't need and allen wrench or screwdriver
to adjust the turrets and they have good solid clicks when adjusting.

For know one of them is going on my crosman mk1 pistol/carbine
Got it mounted real quick, but I'll have to level and sight it in later.

I tested mine out for a few dozen shots on my 125 .22, and it worked just fine, no issues at all.
Up to about 100 shots on the new Hat 125/.25 springer and all is well. If this 32.75FPE sledgehammer won't kill this scope, not much will. It's mounted with a 11mm to Weaver extended adapter to get the eye piece closer.

Lucky you! I had to send my 125 back to field supply, fpe had dropped to ~14 - 650fps with 14gr pellets :(

Sorry to hear that, did you check into having it serviced by Hatsan? I've had very good luck with Hatsan service, nice folks to deal with. Last time I looked, FS still had some 135 refurbs in stock, maybe they could cut you a better deal on one of those since they are out of 125's?

I thought about it, but it also appeared to have a bent (upwards) barrel. I really liked it, but with losing power and shooting 2' high at 25 yards, I just sent it back. I do plan on keeping my eye out for another one, unless I get $299 saved for an R9 before I see another good deal...

I must have got a lemon then. 4 shots on my gas rammed XS46U .22 blew the reticle right out of it

That is unfortunate. I'd call Natchez and explain what happened, maybe send a pic of the reticle. Who knows, maybe they will replace it no charge. Nothing ventured, nothing gained. I just tried some Hatsan Supreme 19.9gr pellets in the 125/.25 and got 892 fps for 35 fpe. None of the 10 scopes I bought have crapped out yet (knock on wood).
Good luck with it,
John

It was a $6 gamble. It says not airgun rated so I would probably lose that battle. I will just use the other 1 I bought for pcp/pumpers/co2. No biggie

a little comparison between the $6.99 M11010000 and $8.99 SS047 Horton scopes from Natchez:
-- eye relief is the same on both, around 2.5"
-- SS047 is longer, can be used on single-shot top-load PCP's, the objective bell is forward enough to clear the loading port.
-- Brightness is about the same on both. M11010000 has a little higher resolution (slightly eaiser to detect details), but SS047 is very clear by itself. Neither has noticeable "barrel" distortion around the edges.
-- SS047 has noticeblely wider field of view, by maybe 10~15%, more suitable for hunting.
*For mag-fed PCP or spring-piston, the M11010000 and SS047 are about the same, 11010000 has slightly higher res but SS047's wider view is also nice;
*For low-end single shot PCP's (FDPCP, QB78/79, B50/51), the SS047 fits nicely;
*For "tactical" stuff such as my newly acquired ($34, refurbished, from Natchez) MK-177, the compact 110100000 is a great fit ;D
-
Good info Kevin, thanks. I ordered 2 of the SS047's to try them out. I'm scope rich and cash poor...lol.
-
I might get a few more of SS047 myself, they are better fit for my QB/FDpcp needs. (I now have too many 11010000's, will probably keep some of them in the package and sell them on ebay later on, after they have became the "Legendary little Horton scope" :P)
man, these " cheap" scopes seem to be costing me a lot $ ....
also got the refurb $34 Mk-177 in the same order, and surprisingly, the MK-177 is not a "dressed-up 760" (like the M4-177 is). The MK177 has a 2240 size tube and larger piston and probably a 2240 size valve, should have quite a bit of power potential.

I have a question. It appears that the scope has an adjutment ring for the rear lens. This one would focus the range you are shooting at. But, when adjusting it for a focused picture, the crosshairs may go our of focus. Some scopes, if you remove the threaded ring at the very front of the scope, have another ring under that, that can be used to focus the crosshairs. I have a Centerpoint like that. I wonder if these have that feature. Note, this is not considered an AO scope, and is not a feature that everyone knows about. This was pointed out on www.airgunweb.com (http://www.airgunweb.com).

I never heard of something like that but good to know and something to check for in inexpensive scopes.

I believe the factory specs state it is set for 50 yd parallax. It has a threaded retaining ring on the front element, but it appears just to keep it in a fixed position.

Not sure which model # of the Crossbow scope I have, but I got mine last year on ebay for under $10. There IS a ring underneath the outer front ring that WILL adjust the objective. If you look inside the ring you will see that the lense has a threaded ring and there is a notch on each side of it. Loosen the outer ring and then use an o-ring pick or ice pick to rotate the lens in or out to focus. Once focused just use the pick to hold the notch in the position it is in and then tighten the outer ring. If you do not hold the lense it will try to turn along with the outer ring.
I set both of mine to be perfectly clear at 25yds, but they will focus closer
-
If that's the case, then this should make a very nice little scope for, at least, multi pumps, CO2 shooters, and single pump air rifles (like the Daisy 953).
-
You can adjust the $6.99 scope as per the posts above. I did it to mine when I put it on my 953.
-
Nice dude thanks. Perfect for my future mounting mission for my 392:p
-
This is what you need to adjust for closer object. I turned about one full turn counter clockwise to focus down to 15 yards. The reticle still looks sharp. Use the back of a butter knife to turn the ring will work also.

Great tip. Thanks. I just did this on the 1 I blew up and put back together. Guess you could say it was my guinea pig. Now I need to do this to my good 1 for 10 meter target shooting

looks like this "legendary little scope by Horton" is now out of stock at Natchez.

Thanks bud got 3!
