My son and I took our 5 1/2 month old German Shepherd to a close by dog park last night.
He loves chasing a tennis ball and playing frisbee.....but last night he kept digging in one spot....and digging and digging!! Never did this before.
He unearthed this disgusting tennis ball about 2' down!!
Really???
How on earth???
Check out the laser like focus on that gross looking ball!! Looks like he thinks he found treasure!!
Too funny!!

I bet another dog hid it.

Stefan it looked like that ball was buried for quite some time!! It was disgusting bro.....but he thought he found some buried treasure and I didn't have the heart to take it away from him!!
My son and I were hysterical!!

I bet he'd be a good truffle dog! Get some truffle oil..Then dab some on cotton ball to hide in objects to play fetch, then start burying them!

They are fantastic dogs. The biggest problem you will have is that they are naturally suspicious and people tend to fear them for no reason. That often results in the dog barking and some person getting upset because the dog did exactly what it is bred to do. When someone is afraid of them, that person will act "hinky". The dog will pick up on it instantly. He thinks anyone who is acting like they are afraid of him, probably has a reason to be acting that way. He will bark at them and even snap at them if they approach him acting like that.
We live in the country and Derby knows who lives in the area. He tells all strangers that they are on his turf and will hold them wherever he finds them until someone from the neighborhood comes out of their house and tells him it is ok. The neighbors love him.
Best thing for that little hero is to encourage him to play with little kids, strangers, and other dogs while he is small. He will grow into a fine dog that is easy to manage in social situations and if you are interested in doing bite work he will be more easily controlled when he is working in large groups of strangers.
Socialization! Socialization! Socialization!
Good looking pup for sure.

;D I had a large female red Doberman ( Brandy) for home and family she was the best . Any kid in the neighborhood could walk freely in and out of my house but she was well trained and when I told her to watch the house either my wife or myself had to let an adult in and escort them back to the door when they left. If I did not tell her to watch the house she was slightly less vigilant but still observant with strangers . Cosmo will show you where the valuables are kept if you pet him first ::) ;D

How true Mike! He just turned 6 months and you'd think he was 2 by the way he carries himself.
Just amazing how the breed just knows.....when to play....when to chill and when to get serious.
We've had him since he was 9 weeks and he has been around tons of dogs and people. He's great with little kids especially.
Simple to train....he loves it!
He's a tic over 70 lbs and strong as a bull!!
Just a great dog!
PS.....just showed my son Derby's pic......he is beautiful!!!
