Post by: triggerfest on August 25, 2014, 08:43:54 AM
Hello fellow shooters, is it worth buying the Turkish Patriot ? Or can I better invest my money into a Hatsan instead ?

QC ? accuracy ?

Thanks folks !

I will be receiving my Patriot in the mail today and will do a review on it. I would say if you get a Patriot or Hatsan, have it tuned.
Just my 2 cents ;)

Matt15,
~35 FPE!  Holy cow!  I thought my XS28M was a canon at 24 FPE.  Yeah I would definitely have one of those bad boys tuned otherwise it might rattle your fillings loose.  I did not know springers went that high in power (I assume it's .25).  I wonder what the cocking effort is like and the all important trigger.  Will your review be posted on this thread?  I look forward to it.

Rudeboy,
I bought a fully tuned XS28M from Mike Melick (Flying Dragon Air Rifles) that I couldn't be happier with but it's not in the MEGA MAGNUM class.

Question for both of you.  What do you plan on shooting that requires that much power?

Yeah 35 FPE I am excited because I am going from a 8 FPE crosman 2100 .177 to a 35 fpe Webley Patriot .25 8) I will do it in the turkish gate but will try to post a link here.

"What do you plan on shooting that requires that much power?" I plan on using it for squirrels up to groundhogs.

The Turkish Patriot is made by Hatsan.

The Turkish Patriot is made by Hatsan.
So is that good or bad?

Well, it wont quite be up to the quality of the old English made Patriots, but it will be pretty nice. Just pointing out to the OP that he is trying to decide between the Webley or the Hatsans, and that  he's actually getting a Hatsan anyways :D

Well, I like the looks and I'm looking for a mega plinker, although I like the challenge to get some decent groups out of it as well....

I know they are made by Hatsan, but Hatsan's nowadays are showing good quality. Not up to my German airguns though  ;)

I got my Patriot delivered about an hour ago! It is awesome. I am going to wait a few days and shoot it a little before I do my review.

So Matt,

How's your Turkish Webley Patriot working out?  How did you find the finish and QC on the gun?

I have been so busy I only shot it about 40 times. The finish is nice and the QC seems to be good. Love the trigger it is smooth and very short pull compared to my crosman 2100. It has been tuned with a vortex piston and seal (I think) and shoots 37 FPE. At 15 yards it went through two 1/2 inch pieces of plywood that were 4 feet apart. My dad still can not get over how big it is. It is probably bigger and weighs than his 870 12 ga. shot gun ;D

So you are enjoying that Patriot????? ;D

It is a BEAST as I stated when I owned it.  It takes some time to get a hold of mastering it but is fairly easy from the get go.  Just getting the fine motor skills down to hold and follow through it that rifle is almost a consistent hitter with 100% accuracy.  I only had the every so often slight miss but blame it on me for rushing a shot or anticipation mainly.  We find this alot in our agency on the firing range with shooters anticipation of recoil.

The numbers on this post tuned rifle baffled me for sure.  It went from being a hammer to a sledge!  Hopefully that will settle in a bit as you shoot it Matt and tames up a bit.  But that rifle's main spring was massive like no other I had dealt with.  There is a reason this rifle is a BEAST to a degree.

You shot a nutter yet to see what it will do? ;D

And yes you are right about the Vortek system used in the tuning process.  It is actually the same one Tom makes for the Hatsan 135 which I think he no longer may carry for some reason.

I love the gun!! It is awesome. I have not shot a squirrel with it but can not wait to shoot one. What size groups did you get a 30 yards Mike?

I never had the time to put this one to paper for actual measurements.  I shot my steel swingers with it and at 35 yards consistenty hit a 3" swinger with it.  Wish I had some numbers for you.

Hey Guys I am really excited!!!!! I had a chance to shoot about 20 shots this after noon. Most of them where at cans. I did shoot two 15 yard three shot groups. The first group had three shots in a horizontal line about 2 inches long. 8) Now it gets even better and keep in mind this is with open sites. My next group was under a quarter and two of the pellets went in the SAME HOLE!!!! 8) Now I was shooting up against a dirt hill so I dug up the pellets. The two pellets that went in the same hole were SMASHED TOGETHER!!!! ;D I am sorry I do not have any pics of the 2 pellets. :-\ Over all I love this gun and it is truly a beast!!!

Maybe I should start tuning more of these Bohemuth sized rifles!  Actually, I have a individual inquiring currently on a UK Beeman Kodiak .25 caliber that has lost power.  Hopefully we can get that one in and solve his issue and that will be another of these massive springers we have done at PNCAG! ;D
