Title: New 350p owner!!
Post by: woogie_man on September 24, 2013, 03:28:40 PM
Just wanted to stop by and say hi.

Was able to get my hands on this rifle from a fellow member here.  Was able to trade my fwb 300s for the rifle, spare barrel, and droop mount, as well as a tin of pellets.  All I can say is WOW!!  The cocking of the rifle is nice and smooth, and the thump this thing makes is just awesome!  Though not sure how many shots I can take in my yard before my neighbors start to complain,  Lol.

Was posting a while ago that I was wanting something either for the ft game, or something better to hunt with.  And I have to say that this thing should be able to deliver the guy to critters.

Though I must ask.....what are you guys zeroing your scopes at?  I currently have a Hawke 6-24 on the rifle.  Shooting the stock short barrel, though do have an MM long barrel as well.

I can't post this without saying a HUGE THANK YOU to Rob from the forums here.  This rifle is great and I am going to have fun with it.

Good for you.
Nothing worse than trying to use a rifle for something it is not designed for, and having a BAD experience.
Round peg in square hole.

Now you have a square pen for your square hole.

No kidding.

This thing is going to be fun.  Though I will have to get use to not griping the rifle like a gorilla when shooting.

That I have.  The first shot that I let though her really suprised me.  Was suprised at the trigger pull as well as the thump in my shoulder!

I have some 20+ grain pellets I am going to throw through her and see what she does.  Though shooting at a 2x4 was geting the pellets to go half way through.  Now to pull out the chrony, get some numbers, and sight this beast in.

I'm just wondering what calibre your 350 is in order to use 20 gr pellets. I sure hope it's not a .22 becuae that is far too heavy, even for a well made air rifle like the 350... You would be technically far better served by using .22 pellets in the 14 - 16 gr range. Be careful about gong above that mark. 20 grainers are better suited to .25 calibre...

Yup, he beat me to it.

I only have a few from when I had my BSA Sportsman HV.  Figured I would give them a try, but honestly can see me just using the 15-19 grainers that I have.  Wouldn't mind the extra range, though the heavies will be used when big critters are in the yard.

LOL.....yeah yeah yeah.

I picked it up from the post office, as I work nights and missed the darn delivery person....., put a few shots through it and had to get to work.  I plan on getting some shots here tomorrow or this weekend.  I was lucky enough to get two barrels with the rifle :P  The stock shorty and a longer MM barrel.

That is one sweet looking rifle Woogie... no seriously, I really like the lines on that rifle.  It has a certain sniper appeal to it don't you think...?  Can't to see some accuracy reports and maybe even a video!

The falcon is still on my .22, this one is a Hawke 6-24.

Did get the droop mount with it as well, though the scope is a 30mm tube.  So I have a set of double strap bkl rings that I can't use!!  Luckily payday is tomorrow, so new mounts will be on order as well as some more pellets.

No worries man.

The Falcon will soon be on this rifle, and the Hawke will be over on a rifle I am building up for my wife.  She liked shooting the 300s, and is wanting her own to target shoot as well as to hunt!

opps, you traded me the gun your wife liked ? and your not in the doghouse? tell her I have a daisy 853c with a lw barrel I don't shoot much

Lol....Yeah she liked it, but it was to heavy for her.   I am looking at getting an Air Arms Tx200 or a ProSport for "her"  :D

But I have got to say that after putting this UTG droop mount on the rifle..... I can actually use the cross hairs on the scope, who would have thought.  Glad I waited a little bit for the order, rather than rushing out and trying to bend the barrel like a fool. ( no offense to any of those that have done it and had it work for them.... I just know I would have buggered it up )

Will get some pics up this weekend with the Falcon 4-14x44 FFP scope, along with the other hunting goodies.  More pellets came in, so time to start shooting and having some fun.

Now I have wanted to try a .25 for a little while now, and after seeing the power this rifle has it got me to thinking.  Is there anyone out there that makes a .25 barrel for these rifles?  I would think with the power out put they should be able to sling a .25 pellet fairly well.

you might hit old fang up, I think he might have 1 or know where to score a 25 barrel . its got nuff behind it to sling a 25 slug out there . hey get your wife my crosman / Avanti 853c. its a 5 shot 1 pump to the shot gun and its got a famed lw barrel. I got it for my daughter but she don't shoot it , prefers my Diana 34's

Ok...so a few 100 pellets through the rifle, and I just can't seem to get any type of group!  Tried different holds, and tests, but still no type of groups.

Any hints or tips?     Really missing the pcp accuracy right now.  And yes I know this rifle won't have that same kind of accuracy.

Silly wabbit your spoiled by that pcp, that 350 is a beast you're in a different world
Now!
I shoot off a bipod &artillery hold.I cup my hand like a U let the forend lay in my hand.
The stock just touches my shoulder, my cheek barely touches the stock, my hand on the
Grip.I'm loose as a goose just letting the ag lay in my arms.
The only pressure on the ag is my finger squeeeeeezing the trigger till
BONK!!!!!
It's a surprise every time.
Form &follow through.
Practice practice practice.
Keep shooting don't give in.

try the other barrel yet? I found when you shoot that beast you have to moreso let her lay in your arm and just put a very light pull to your shoulder and squeeze the trigger . let the gun work in your hands. if you put much pressure holding her she wont group well. and did you swab the barrel when she showed up? it could have gotten a little bit of foreign matter in the barrel. I could get tight groups out at 30 yards easy with either barrel . but it took me a little time to get myself adjusted to that gun. its like all guns, each 1 has a different way it wants to be helt. oh another thing try this just for grins n giggles , try the mount I sent with it , somehow the mount might be messing with you, chech the stock screws too. it could have worked loose and that definitely will kill groups. a 350 is a hammer and it might have loosened the screws up. I put allen head bolts in to replace the Phillips head screws that you couldn't get tight nuff to hold .

Will try swapping out the barrel here tomorrow.

This thing is tricky that is for sure, especially for my first springer.    Lol

chris , it took me a while to learn it and I have shot / owned a lot of spring guns. but all of a sudden it will happen, probably when you think its beat me . first tin of pellets, I didn't get along with it. next day I tried a different way to hold it and it was doin great. I shot a lot of starlings this spring with it. head shot and where did the head go? shots

LOL.

Yeah I am sure I need more practice, I am just to use to holding the rifle firm and not letting it move.  Will give it more of a go this weekend as well, hate to give up on it just yet.  Also went to try the Hawke scope on her, just to make sure it wasn't a scope problem, only to find out that the droop mount gives me to much droop!  Now instead of the pellets hitting far under the cross hair, it is way up at the top of the scope!  GAH!!!   Well going to throw the Falcon on the PWS T3 and make sure it is still ticking for me to cross that off.

Though I do have to say that she is much like any other woman out there.....kind of tempermental.

too much droop? use the rws mount. I never had to dial much from center with my bsa essential scope when I used that mount I sent with her. I had a leapers droop mount and weaver rings but that combo had way too much droop compensation and accuracy went out the door

;D Chris the break barrel's are a breed unto themselves and handel/shoot different than any other pellet rifle. Once you master them  just about any other rifle becomeseasier to shoot

Yeah to much droop with the UTG mount.   I can't use the RWS mount.....as I don't have any 1" scopes.  All of mine are of the 30mm style :(

I am planning on taking my T3 out this weekend and making sure the scope is still good.  If it is I will sit it on the 350 and send more pellets down range.

Ok tested my scope, and it is still good.  Swapped the short barrel for the long.  While it did make the cocking effort much easier,I still can't get this to shoot for me.  I guess around 50 rounds through it and still same thing.  Starting to think that a spring gun isn't for me........May have to cut my losses and try another rifle.

Anyone want an rws :p. Going to start looking at the discovery or something else.

Oh don't get me wrong the rifle is great, and was just as Robert said it was.  It was a rifle that I had never seen, or shot before, so thought I would give it a try.  Found that I am not much of a fan, even though the rifle is great.  That and after I got it the wife made it clear that she wanted to shoot air rifles with me as well.  And being as she can't cock the rifle, figured I would try and get the money out of it and try and get a pcp for us to shoot.

Again I feel the trade was worth it, and the rifle was just as described by Robert when we traded.

What PCP platform are you considering?  I picked up a Marauder (.177) as a refurb for $325, and it is quite accurate.  I hear that a Marauder in 1/4 bore is the most accurate model to own since it has  a barrel made by Green Mountain.  There are lots of mods available for the Marauder, and it is a nice platform to tinker with.

Been thinking about the quarter, but then I can't use my powder burner barrel device.....so well probably stick with the .22 for now.

Been looking at the Hatsan at44-10 or just a plane Jane qb79 and mod the heck out of it, with the plan of going to hpa after a bit.

And again guys, Robert did nothing wrong here.  Figures a magnum would be this hard to shoot, and it was easy.  I just bit off more than I could chew.  Robert described the rifle as I got it, and the rifle is awesome.  It is just not my thing if you will.
