Thank you

Almost missed this. Order sent.

do i really need a spring press on the NP? cant imagine that the load it to great.
thanx
-
You need to be able to releive pressure of ram to get cross pin out. Not as dangerous as spring but be advized I suggest a safe method of removing ram.

The NP-GRS Kit was waiting in the mailbox for me when I got home from work tonight. Thank you for making this available for us NP and XL owners, Gene. Much appreciated! Now I just need to find the time to get it installed...

Duber

I can't wait for mine to arrive. I also suspect it will greatly reduce the current effect of shots getting thrown off by pulling the trigger differently in the later stage. Probably because the trigger latch catches the back of the piston while the foward force is in the front allowing the back to slop arround when released.
-
Does it fit and is it needed On the Remington NPSS versions?
-
No, the GRS Kits are not needed for the Crosman/Remington Short Stroke NPSS Gas Rams.
-
Thank you!

I am pretty new to the airgun scene so excuse my ignorance. I ordered a Ben NP and put a new trigger on it. It is shooting very well now. I picked up on on this kit being available. I have two questions. 1. Which kit fits my gun, and 2. Where do I obtain the tool called a spring press? Thanks.
-
have these been sent out yet?
-
I installed the Trail NP-XL-GRS kit yesterday. It goes in very easy since you do not need a spring compressor with the NP-XL. (You do need a spring compressor with the standard NP.)
My XL is in .25 and I have been struggling to tighten up the groups. I did not expect the kit to help with that but was very pleasantly surprised when it did. Groups tightened up significantly. Must be making the shot cycle more consistent. Well worth the investment.
Next I will try the NP kit on my Crosman Venom. (Same as the NP but in .177.)

Welcome. Go to Gene's link in the first post of this thread. Your kit is listed there.
To safely open a Trail NP up, you'll to make your own 'spring compresser'. There are a number of ways they can be made. Try typing 'spring compresser' into the search function and you should see a bunch of posts, many with pictures of how the guys have built theirs.
Good luck.
Paul.

OK, I am new so don't beat me to much...

Hello, new to the forum and just got a Ben. NPXL I know that I want to change out the trigger and sounds like the GTR-111 is what I should go with for the trigger swap and I'm also currious about the GRS kit. What is it where do I order it and what can I expect from it? Is it a seal and bushing uprade? Thank Keenan
-
This kit does help tighten grouping by improving consistency - however after installing and going out to shoot my amazing trail np the gun wouldn't latch when cocked- ahhh
had to take it apart and remove the front nylon washer due to the fact that the clearance between the front of the ram and the inside of the piston was barely 1/16 in. the front washer is 3/32's thick plus the 1/64 from the back sleeve. I don't know whether the clearance issue is because the guns are made in china and vary in tollerance or what but the back washer is the most important and seems to work fine alone.

Hello,
I am new to the site and the air gun world and was hoping someone could explain what the GRS kit does and why it is needed?
Thanks!
Travis
-
The reason it would not cock and lock up is because Crosman has changed the design on ram shaft end and piston bottom divot. Originally they used a flat end on the ram shaft and now they have rounded the end of ram shaft to match the divot in bottom of piston. This is in both the Trail NP and XL versions. Throw nylon washer out when installing the GRS kits NPS that have rounded end on ram shaft. All kits shipped now with out washer.
Sorry guys for the problem but Crosman engineers slipped up on me...:) All ram bushings are made to fit and Crosman has not made any further changes to pistons or rams.

The main purpose of the GRT kits are to stablize the ram body inside the piston. It will keep Ram from rubbing and moving side to side in piston when cocking gun. This will allow gas ram to work smoother and extend life of ram.
-
Thanks Gene,
That is good info, I will be keeping that in mind.

Hello, I'm new to the forum. On the GRS kit would it be better to use Moly Paste or silicon to lube the bushing?
My rifle:
Trail NP XL
Burris Signature Zee Ring scope rings
piston seal upgrade http://www.airrifleheadquarters.com/catalog/item/251485/6616786.htm (http://www.airrifleheadquarters.com/catalog/item/251485/6616786.htm) (not installed yet)
Soon to be added upgrades:
GRT trigger
GRS kit
if anyone has any advise or cautions in regards to installing these upgrades please send my way.
Thank you
-
Moly on the outside of bushing and silicone on shaft

Got it today - thanks Gene...

Hey Gene, did the parcel I sent arrive OK? I've got to have the washers as well Please,so if you don't have any,I might as well wait for the GRS kit and do it at the same time.I think the washers are the fix mine needs so I just wanted to touch base.
Thanks,
Troy

Throw nylon washer out when installing the GRS kits NPS that have rounded end on ram shaft. All kits shipped now with out washer.
Gene just be clear, you mean the washer that goes inside the piston should not be used? And when you say "flat'"ram end, you mean really flat? Mine, on my NP appeared tapered. When I installed my washer inside the piston , it was a very tight fit. It had to be hammered into place. . It was so tight, I decided to remove the GRS kit completely. At that point I had a hard time removing the the air piston form the main piston. I glued the bushing on to the air piston with a couple of drops of superglue, but when I re opened the mechanism to remove it all, I found it could move into inside the piston. Should I put just the bushing back without the washer and glue the bajezuz out of it?

If Piston has demple at bottom and shaft is rounded on end no washer is needed.
-
hi gene are you selling the brass pivot bolt bushings for the benjamin xls yet?
-
Yes I am. You can go to www.airguntoys.com (http://www.airguntoys.com) and sellect what you want via PayPal.
-
thanks gene i just order a set of brass bushings for my xl
-
hi gene got my bushings today i cut a grease gruve in them with a little file they fit really good i didnt have to tighten the pivoit bolt very tight to get the side play out of my barrel lot better than what i tried to make, now got to wait on the lock tight to dry thanks for a good product

Ordered the bushing/ washer kit for the TRAIL NP yesterday. Compressor for the shock seems not to be a problem. Just wondering about the barrel washers. Are they a simple replacement for the factory with no mods to the gun to install? ???
-
Got the washer and busing kit. I have not made the install yet. I understand the bevel side of the barrel washers face out when installed. The bushing is hollow. Does the hollow end face the barrel and act as a guide? Also got the new JM seals to install when I doe the deburing.
-
Sorry about the confusion. My printer ran out of ink the day I sent out last batch of bushins and washer kits.
The delrin bushing goes on front of piston. Check here for the instructions.

Hello! I have a nitro titanium. Do I need some of these accessories? GRS-Kit?
Custom Brass Barrel Breech Washers? The last! What is it? Ship it to Sweden?
-
I'd like to improve the cocking of my Remington NPSS and I ordered one of the Bushing/Washer Kits. I assume the GRS-NP is the correct one for my Gun? Just making sure... :)
ETA: Thanks for inventing this. I'd love to take my NPSS to the next level. Are there any other mods available that would improve performance?
-
Gene,
My son is struggling getting his * Benjamin Regal NP to print any consistent groupings now after 500 or so shots . It is a (Big Five exclusive as far as I know) It's based on the Benjamin Trail NP1200 based on my research, just without the built in scope rail and without the sling lugs. It's rated at 1200 FPS (with the super lightweight alloy pellets of course).
** Any clue what kit may fit this rifle ?
-
Hi Gene, I second the question bareyb made, can this be used on the NPSS? I see the same problem with the NPSS of the piston not seating properly.
-
Do you need a Spring Compressor to install this on a NPSS (Nitro Piston short stroke) Rifle?
-
No, the GRS kits are only for the Tail NP and XL gas rams. NPSS can use the breech washers but not the bushings.

It is best to use a spring compressor. For safety reasons.

Oh man... That means I just purchased a set of bushings that I don't need... Is there any way to undo the Bushing part of my order? I sent it in via Paypal yesterday. :-[

I realize that this is an old thread, but are these kits still available? If they are not available does anyone have the measurements for them?

Unfortunately, our good friend gene has passed away, and he is the one that was having these made. He was an amazing guy, glad i got the chance to enjoy the hobby with him on this forum while i did. Ed(shadow) i think did some installs when the bushings were being made, he may be able to help with dimensions

I have a write up how to make pivot washers but am unable to attach it. Send me a pm if interested.
