Well I did it again. I bought another German Classic, Weihrauch 55S. It has the Diopter rear sight, and has new seals and new spring.
Anyone ever shot one?
-
Hi airnutz,
While I've never shot the HW55, its one of the Weihrauch-made guns I'd definitely like to try someday. They seem pretty rare in the US, and I see few for sale. They seem to be a nice gun with power at or between the HW30/R7 and HW50 you more commonly see over here, but with features of a match rifle. Sounds like a great all-around field and target gun.
Let us know how yours shoots and how you like it. ;D

I have an HW 55MM, same action in a different stock. Mine has the original diopter sight, and as far as I know, the original spring and seals.

Mine's a nice shooter, smooth and accurate, with one of the best triggers I have ever used. It averages about 640 fps with H&N match pellets, and stacks them at 30 feet indoors. I think you'll enjoy it.

Thanks guys. I have NO experience with HW's. The velocity mentioned seems to be about right, as well as the accuracy, as these guns over here in Germany are still a "must to have", and the HW's have about the best Rep there is. The gun is marked with the "F", which means it's limited by law to velocity. There are numerous spring choices however, but I'm just nuts about having my first Match-type Air Gun, and more so that it's obviously such a nice one. It is in good working order, so I won't have to go into it to have fun....but to have real fun, I'll go into it anyway. I just have to look. 8)

What a beauty!
Yes, my stock is not as DeLuxe, but the Diopter seems to be the same.

did somebody get in my gun safe and swipe mine? its the best shooting gun ive had till the original leather seal went bad . got a new 1 ordered and now im just waiting for it . its an excellent smooth shooting gun with 1 of the best triggers made rekford is the top of the crop . they arent a real strong gun but a most accurate gun shoots cphp's in the 650-675 range . how much did ou have to give for yours ? they are quite collectable and in good shape bring a rathe high price

robert w, thanks for the info. I am real excited about getting such a rifle. The leather seal and the spring are new, the wood is in good condition. Just the bluing is not top anymore. With such a gun, I'll have it done professionally.
All this, and it set me back $140 delivered to my door. I don't know what your prices are for HW'S, but over here....well at this price it was a steal for sure. Lot's of HW 35's around, but I was waiting for a 55S. I will order also from JM my first kit. I just had to do it.
Am I hooked now?
;D

Where did you find a seal?

I don't know about airnutz but I have ordered from these people several times.

For parts for my BSF Airguns. You can email them with questions and they respond in a reasonable amout of time. I gave you page for seals scroll down to PW041 I think. Delivery does take a little longer but not bad for England.

@robertw,
Please let me know how much spring pressure you have to deal with for disassembly. Your gun may have a stronger spring than mine, and as I understand mine does not need a spring compressor. I have one, but I would like some info before I go into mine.

airnutz i sent you a pm. if you dont get it let me know and i will try again. its about inside of my 55

Well I guess I'm the first one who doesn't like the gun....at least this particular one.
It's completely over-sprung, the thing twangs like crazy, and when the piston slams home it feels like there is no seal on it. The gun is accurate, without a question, and I feel if i breathe on the trigger it will shoot. I am trying to re-adjust to make it a little stiffer. The shaft was at some time broken completely through!! The repair job was at least done by someone who has capabilities to do such. There is absolutely no bluing left on the metal, at least no rust either. Looks like the bluing was chemically removed, and the metal was left untouched, not even any oil....at least no rust.
So, I have a big project now, and because of the shaft, I can't even sell it for anything....so, it is a keeper. At least I will learn more about Weihrauchs when I take it down and and try to repair the rest.
I was apparently a fool on this one, but the owner was not quite honest either.
Ain't life grand when you've been done over?
Anyone else ever not gotten their money's worth??
>:(

very dusty but otherwise in decent shape, leather piston seal needs rejuvenation and maybe replacement breach seal, but mostly needs a good cleaning. I also have a 55S that shoots mid 600's.
here are some pics of the 55M

It's too bad the seller wasn't honest with you, sounds like you have some work to do. My 55MM is the smoothest spring gun I own, zero vibration, and very little recoil. I've never had it apart, I don't know if it has leather or nylon seals, or the original spring. I don't intend to open her up unless she quits working. I hope you can save yours.

when you say the shaft was broken completely through, which part are you referring to? spares are available.
chambers uk or from speciality shooting sports in canada

@LarryT, your feeling of the gun is exactly what I was expecting, and looking forward to. When I shoot the gun, it really zings and hammers like metal to metal. The gun is a beast, and nothing to what Weihrauch had intentioned, I am sure of this now. I did a shooting test against a quality grade piece of laminated, high grade plywood used here for boat transoms, and the HW 55s Pellet buried in the wood completely at 35 feet. My Diana 35 (Vintage) ricocheted. The current setup is not much fun to shoot. Powerful yes, but just wild and un-air gun like. I am disappointed for sure.
@jz2, the shaft (sorry, this is the German word....I mean the Stock) was broken at it's weakest area, along the thin area above the thumb whilst shooting (behind the trigger). Although I bought the gun cheaply, spending anymore would be all the more foolish in this case. The bluing has been removed, the spring needs to be replaced, and I am too teed-off and disappointed to even touch the thing for a while.
But hey, it shoots strong and very accurate. I did a 10 meter (33 feet) test today with five shots and I stacked two after being off with my first one (man, is this trigger hairy!), the other two a nine points. Yes, it is accurate.
I am finishing an old Walther LG 51 up this weekend, and I think it will be a sweetie.
Right now, I don't want to look at the Weihrauch.
