I noticed today that the even with the safety on my sniper still fires if the screws are adjusted so the trigger pull is light the piston still latches to of course its our normal for that to happen? I think it is because of the screw mod I did. Also when the pull its adjusted so its harder when I pull the trigger lightly on safety it moves forward a bit and then when you take the safety off the pull is lighter like balk during
Is this normal? Thanks

I dont know I will have to look into that interesting, I been so busy doing the tear down, the tune, and the 4 part post I have had no time shooting except for to test.

Mike try to check this out asap. High priority safety issue for sure. brent

Be very careful mine while cocked just flew up and bent the barrel luckily my finger wasn't in the way I'm asking joao if I can exchange it

Which model? "Flew up"? when and how, and while you were doing what..? Have you modified anything on the gun? Trigger?
These hit and run posts that pile on an issue are ridiculous, especially about a serious safety issue like this, come back when you have some facts!
-
Well it seems that the safety just limits how much the pull can be pulled I tightened the pull and shortened the pull length a bit and while the gun was cocked it just went off randomly, luckily my finger wasn't in the way. This was probably close to the factory screw settings too now the barrel is bent I hope joao will let me exchange the gun be careful guys I wouldn't go experimenteng w
With this edit I did put in the larger screws the model is a 125 sniper while the gun was cocked the sear let go be careful with the Longer screws

"its our normal for that to happen?"
What kind of english is this ? Dude please post with stuff we can read right ...... exactly what happened again ?
-
This a concern on the WFH and Hatson. These guns seem more pron to do this than other brands. It is a given if the piston does not lock with the trigger and you let go the spring is going to slam the barrel shut even with out mods to the trigger.
There again, when you go playing with triggers SAFETY IS # 1. Just isn't much holding the piston back in comparison to the STORED ENERGY that the spring has in the cocked position,

Z man: the best I can decipher from that last post is (my words) he adjusted the two trigger screws, maybe even modified the length of them and (as you and I know) the sear and trigger linkage in these types of guns begins to interact with the safety device, i.e. the safety doesn't go on or off safe completely? Thus, (I'm guessing) the trigger/sear let loose before the barrel was fully returned to the locked position?

ah ok got it now......

Sorry I'm on my phone, the gun can still be fired while the safety is engaged if I adjust the longer aftermarket screws so that the trigger pull is to light or the pull length is to short. The gun is a hatsan mod 125 sniper. Just a few hours ago the pull length was adjusted to short and while the gun was cocked it went off and almost chopped my finger off.the barrel is now bent upwards. I think it is because of the longer trigger screws I put in, and therefore not hatsans fought. Be careful with the longer trigger adjustment screws.
Edit: what saade said, just trying to let you guys know to be careful with the longer trigger screws.

"With this edit I did put in the larger screws"
So it begins.....
I'd strongly suggest not altering those screws again ***IF*** you get a replacement since changing to longer screws voided the warranty and was not a manufacturing issue. There is a reason Hatsan is sending them with short screws as you've learned. You are extremely lucky.

JJ1514 Got it, you too, be careful, triggers are VERY deceiving devices and after all, they are compound levers that can do unpredictable things with very little alteration (like longer screws) ???
Archimedes said "give me a lever and I wil move the world" he was into geometry before it was geometry ;)

Any ideas on how much a replacement barrel from umarex would cost or how to bend the barrel back? Thanks
-
Any time you adjust the trigger outside of what the mfg has built in for adjustment range allows (either by stoning, lubing, adding different screws, etc) you risk this exact type of discharge. I'm glad your fingers were not in the way. If you haven't seen it here, there is a post showing a guys finger that is pretty chewed up from getting smashed in the barrel. If you haven't seen it, I suggest you do a search and see what potential injuries you were milliseconds away from.
Unfortunately, some factory triggers not so good and many people want to make them more to there liking. Modifying them(like that post you followed), starts you down a slippery slope, with real world consequences.
Charlie has said it numerous times here, warning about modifying triggers.

Are you mechanically inclined? Do you have, or can you make a device to bend the barrel?
Nearly all airgun barrels are much softer steel than their high-power, powder burning brothers, thats the good news. Now, where is the barrel bent and to what degree? (measurables, we need measurables)
So, total length of barrel is___________ The bend begins at ____________ from the muzzle end of the barrel and; the bend travels approximately ______ inches and; with a straight edge on the shallow side of the bend, it is about ________ inches (or fractions) of deflection away from the straight edge.
With the above info, maybe we can problem solve and straighten this silly thing, it's done more often than you might think.

Depending on how badly it's bent, you maybe able to salvage the barrel. Umarex will be expensive on the replacement, based on what they charge (or try to) for other parts. You could try bending the barrel in a good solidly mounted vice (with padding around the barrel.
The first thing I'd do is remove them &^%^% screws and put the factory ones back in (if you saved them)

I'll measure a little later the barrel is bent very slightly
-
Umarex = around $130.00 +. I just sent a .22 back WFH.

Any gun that has actual trigger adjustment screws can cause the sear to release without pulling the trigger if set to light. I even did this on a Thompson Center Contender pistol some 30 years ago. Luckily I had my thumb still one the hammer and just eased it down. A deer was 20 yards in front of me when this happened and all I could do was watch him walk away, to about 75 yards lol.

I gather you weren't holding the barrel securely, which allowed it to slam shut. You need to do that always...hang onto that barrel at all times....don't trust that safety, period. This applies to all springers, except for pop-up, or rotary breeches. Happy to hear it was just a barrel. Put those stock screws back.
-
Craymar: :o I bet you had a pie face look when that happened. Had the same thing happen on the TC but there was no meat shot involved. LOL. TRIGGERS make or brake the shot but when foul play is involved DANGER LUKES (Just like the WOLF). You can not let your guard down. A little goes a long way when tweeking the old trigger.
-
I guess you learn from your mistakes, I'm just happy the barrels not bent to bad and my finger is still attached to my hand
-
P/M sent let me know the info.
I never ever let go of the barrel, when I break it to a cocked position.
