I am trying to set up my YH to fill a carbon fiber tank. I will then use the tank to fill my air rifles. I need a check valve so I can bleed off the compressor so I can start it without the tank putting pressure back on the system, to isolate the compressor and downstream parts.
What check valve can be recommended?

if theres a foster nipple on the tank , that is the check valve.. It wont allow pressure from the tank to go back to the compressor

This

I swear by them

Not gotten there yet but I suppose that is true, with a foster fitting for filling separate from the one going to the rifle as some valves appear to be set up, I do not need a check valve?

Check valve should be in foster male. Lets air IN but not out.
Sometimes I use a slide vent (similar to link) to depressurize the hose after filling so there are no surprise POPS when it's time to decouple the fosters.

Same vent could be used OPEN to start the YH with zero back pressure and then CLOSED to build pressure and fill the bottle?

Thanks guys. I bought a cart at Harbor Freight today to set up the compressor and water container and filters and eventual bottle.

That looks like a very useful valve
I could be wrong (nothing new),but it appears as if you need to buy at least 101.
Have you found a way to buy fewer than that @mikeyb?

You can get them here on eBay:

Sorry for late reply. Link was just an example of the specific device. Yeah, min quantity from that site is silly unless you are a distributor.
My slide check assembly was purchased a few years ago from Amazon and I just found the invoice $13.98 back in 2019, now $17.49.

It can also be acquired as part of a fill assembly like this one...
https://www.amazon.com/Maddog-Heavy-Paintball-Remote-Slide/dp/B01EIVBYTC (https://www.amazon.com/Maddog-Heavy-Paintball-Remote-Slide/dp/B01EIVBYTC)
...or from ebay (shipped from China)
https://www.ebay.com/itm/225183863877 (https://www.ebay.com/itm/225183863877)
Edit:
I use the slide when filling from a bottle almost exactly how the Maddog setup is configured.
I'm seeing some conflicting descriptions on how the slide valve works. Some say you don't need to shut of the air supply before opening the slide to vent the line and then disconnecting the foster.
I disagree. On mine I need to shut off the bottle supply FIRST. At that point there is still MANY BAR pressure in the line so popping the foster is difficult and potentially damaging to the foster male/female connectors. Next I pull the slide to expose the vent and there is a brief PPPSSST which releases all pressure in the hose. NOW the foster is under "0" pressure and disconnects easily with no stress or damage.

Here's the one that I use: https://www.discovervalve.com/101133.html?Category_Code= (https://www.discovervalve.com/101133.html?Category_Code=)
You will need to add NPT quick disconnects on both sides. I attach it just before my gold filter.
