i am curious which of these 2 guns would be the quitest for hunting i have herd that on the stoeger with the spring you hear the action and spring more and then i herd that the nitro trail with gas piston is very quiet also
-
The Trail NP by far. The shot cycle is so fast compared to a spring. I have a fully shrouded B25 and it doesn't compare to my Trail NP as far as being quiet.
-
I beg to differ. Please read my review on the Stoeger X20 S that I just wrote today. It's in the airgun review gate.
-
i was wondering i never shot neather just wonted to hear from some that have shot and seen both thanks guys for the replies i read lambs post i really liked it

Thanks for reading it. I truely believe the Stoeger X20 S is the quietest springer out there, next being the Remington NPSS.
-
it was a great write up makes me wont to order a stoeger right now guys on the nitro piston guns. Does the shroud make any different in the sound like a trail with shroud vs a crossman nitro venom with out shroud of them to guns is there any different in how quiet it is

Yes, there are big differnces in terms of sound between shrouded and un shrouded air rifles. For instance, a Stoeger X20 S or Remington NPSS will be much quieter than a Crosman Nitro Venom.

thanks man i wish they still offered the venom with a shroud they had one in a phantom stock with the nitro piston and a barrel shroud i think it was called venom i am not shure i seen a write up on here of one. Now i see the crosman venom series has just a muzzle break i think the one with composit stock is called a venom dusk i was just curious what would be the most quiet gun i say as far as a springer i say the x20s would be and then i say in the nitro piston the ones with the shroud would be the quietest so from what i seen a x20s with a gas ram would haft to be the most quiet out there i have no idea just going from stuff i read and the replys

Yes, I remember seeing them too. Don't know what happened to em' though.

I don't know where you live, but the NP will stay much more consistent in colder weather than a springer.

What complications do springers have in winter?
-
Heavy tar lubes get slow and sticky in cold weather there-by slowing the whole shot cycle down. Nitro pistons are powered by "inert" gas which is unaffected by temp.
-
yes i read that on here some thing a bout when it gets under 30 degrese some thing hapens to the spring but i am just a green horn but this is cool geting info i wounder if any one yet has took a x20s and put a nitro piston in one yet i seen where guy on here has did some x20 from all the info i read looks like to me the x20s with a nitro piston would be the cats meyaw

Nitro Pistons air rifles come lubed from the factory just like springers. Not to mention, most people open up their Nitro guns and lube them themselves. I do see your point though.
Looks like someone with a chrony should do a little experiment this Winter.

I've had my eyes on a Nitro Venom for a while... $149 @ Wally World with a nice scope is a heck of a deal!

This is my Trail NP. I put a Rem Summit stock on it. And yes it is fully shrouded.
-

I had the NPSS .22 and currently have a X20S. The X20S is way more quiet the the NPSS was. Granted, the NPSS was morepowerfull, but not by much. All you hear is the piston hitting home with the X20S. I did a lube tune on both guns, and the Stoeger wins.

That's what I think too. Anyways, don't NPSS' average around 750 with CPHP's? Basically the same as the Stoeger.

I just ran the Stoeger over the chrony last night. It was pushing the cpd 14.3 at 660fps. At first I thought it should be shooting much faster, so I did a lube tune and replaced the spring w/ a factory x20 spring. Same results. I am very dissapionted with Stoeger for giving such false claims on power, but the rifle is very accurate. I calmed down after taking a squirrel at 20yds. I will never buy another Stoeger. The almost 300fps real world fps difference is enough to turn me off to a brand. I expect about a 150fps shortfall, but 300???
-
One more thing, I was impressed with the baffles and the way Stoeger designed the suppressor. I wish more companies would do it that way rather then a shroud.

Which customer will have the biggest chance to become louder :) , the stoeger buyer, or the -1 fail (big chance) trail np buyer that sees his INDOOR (about 19 degrees celsius (67 F) always) performance drop rapidly within 300 shots?
My benji even never saw (seen?) outdoor circumstances.

The advertised FPS is 800. You should have known that they hype up their numbers to increase sales. Please search " stoeger x20 s honest real world review" and leave me a comment what you think.

I cant remember the outfit I bought the rifle from, but it was when they first came out. It was advertised at 900fps with lead. I figured real world would be about 800.
I cant complain to much. I was shooting twigs off of a tree at 30 yds. Its super accurate, and the trigger is not bad. When it comes to a .22 I prefer a little more on the power side.

It is a very weird world, where lying is normal and expected and we should know how much less we gonna get.
There must be millions in this somewhere, class-act suing them lying producers.
This is not a funny commercial, this ain't a car that wil drive 22 KM's on 1000 cc petrol (Which it did on a track so proven and all)
They SHOUT it in youtube material, on webshop's, on the box.
Why not just a law that all brands state a real life high/low (light/heavy pellet) fps ?
People want to be lied to, i guess it is true...
