Holy Smokes!!!
https://www.crosman.com/benjamin-marauder-air-pistol-22 (https://www.crosman.com/benjamin-marauder-air-pistol-22)
Never seen a Prod this cheap. $307.49 and then use agnation for another 25% off.
I take back 50% of the bad things I said about Crosman in the past.

WOW $230.62, if I didn't aready have a Woods Walker I would be all over that!
-
Grab them quick! Last year they shut-down the double discount, but not before a number of GTA members were able to grab a few.
-
Thank you!!! Ordered one using AGNATION coupon code plus free ground shipping so total was 230.62! Christmas gift to meeself! LOL! Always wanted one...🤓👍 again, much appreciated!
-
Just ordered mine with a spectrum ffp. Cost me less than just the prod was going for on any other sites.

Crosman had some great deals today.
-
Not working anymore
-
Still working on my browser.

Still working on my browser.
+1 Sorry, I hope it ends soon, it is hard to resist it.
-
Many thanks.

Last time there was a p-rod deal like this I spent the savings on extras from aftermarket vendors ;D
-
Just snagged one today @230.62. This was a trial and error process. I setup an order yesterday and was able to login to pay but it just hung after giving my CC info. I was no longer able to get to the Crosman site on my computer. My guess was my main computer had the credentials for the Crosman site. I was able to get into the Crosman website using a different machine but it hung on login.
Today, I was able to get to the Crosman website but it still hung on login on my main system. Grrr! I went to my second machine and tried to do a guest checkout with a CC but it hung. The trial that worked was simply doing a PayPal pay.

Like a Rocker1 LDC, JSAR SS Valve gen 2 for starters & maybe a P-Rod AR Stock Adapter too.
Congrats to you guys that bought the Prods, they are very capable, modifiable & fun little shooters!
-
I just ordered one now and it went through fine. Total $230.62.
-
Hey, I plan to put a very small 4x scope on this new p-rod. Will medium-height rings clear the magazine or should I order high rings?
-
Dang enablers!! ;D
I couldn't resist either. I have wanted one for years anyway but was not willing to pay more than $250 for it.
$249 with sales tax out the door for me, including Free UPS Ground shipping. I have 2 or 3 new scopes sitting around so decisions, decisions :)

Mediums clear fine
-
Thank you Swamp! This is what I love about GTA; ask and you will receive!
-
Med rings will be fine. I use med rings with the FFP 30mm scope I just have to move elevation/windage turrets to be clear of the mag
-
I just ordered one now and it went through fine. Total $230.62.
I suspect the site was really busy when I attempted to process my original transaction and hit a software bug. My login attempts on two different machines still get a browser timeout error.

I couldn't log in 2 days ago, so I made the purchase as a "guest" or whatever term they use.
Glad everybody is getting a good deal. Thanks Crosman!!!
Steve

Had a little problem getting on the
Crosman site, but picked one up
thanks for heads up on a great deal!!
-
Thank you whomever!!! I could not get myself to pass on a deal like this. I almost sign up for 2, but reality hit me in the back of my head, so it'll only 1 Prod in the mail for me. Till next time, Thanks again. Art
-
I couldn't pass this deal up........I tried, I really did.......n't ::)
-
I'm glad I didn't get P-Rod fever, like the P-17 fever has struck. Great deal on a P-rod for those who were able to partake ;)

Harry, congratulations man! I too have wanted one for a long time but the price kept me at bay...saw one with Huma reg, ar stock on another board for 350 but it sold in minutes the week before so when this one popped up...Ha ha!
-
Same here Randall, I was interested in more than a few used ones the last few years but I was too slow. Like you I was looking for well-modded ones with regulator or with slightly more power..
So you got 1 too? Good for you. I don't need another airgun, but the addiction overtakes me sometimes, especially when the price is right. I have to find a cure for this addiction. I am running out of space for all my guns (including PB's), gun cases, and gun safes!
-
This year i only purchased from crosman , i think Crosman makes a big score this time, BTW i think GTA = Gateway To Addiction! Lol
Cheers!
-
Pellets are also a good deal to add on. If you buy them on their own you need to get $75 worth for free shipping. The .25 Premiers came to about $9 a box of 200.
-
I think its over Just tryed and the agnation wouldnt work, thats what I get for trying to resist lol!!! But I do have a load of ldcs for them. David

I resisted too, I already have a Woods Walker, but it was still hard. I couldn't rest the deal on some upgrade parts and ammo though, so they still got about the same amount of money out of me. I am sure Crosman is going to be very busy filling all the orders this generated and I think some are going to be impatient and get mad instead of thankful. It's just human nature, but I bring it up as a heads up that Crosman may be overwhelmed for while until they get caught up. Now be nice everyone and wait your turn and count your blessings for getting to save so much on this sale and that they didn't pull the plug on it early.
-
Ordered Friday and Ups says mine is coming today so I think they made awesome time considering my order wasn't filled until yesterday. I assume they gave their workers the holiday weekend which is respectable. I hope to see some threads of how everyone plans to tune their prods so I can get some ideas ;D

That's great. I just doubt they have enough built in inventory to fill all the orders immediately. Maybe I am over estimating the number they sold or maybe underestimating their probable inventory, after all both are wild guesses for me. I think could go into any grocery store and write a pretty good produce order after seeing the total department volume. I worked in and wrote produce orders in 14 stores and trends can be known. There was quite a few occasions where I wrote orders immediately upon arrival in a store I never worked in and I never made an error that caused a significant loss on any item, because I know what people tend to buy. I am sure the same can be said for some employees at Crosman, that they know their business.
Retail can be hard to give workers time off when you are doing maximum volume. The Grocery stores will usually have ALL hands on deck for the days leading up to a holiday, I can count on one hand how many times I had the day before a holiday off in 42 years and most of those were because I was off work on disability due to an injury. Holiday pay was not automatically given to anyone that called off sick the day before or after a holiday either, as an incentive to show up, if people were honest about being sick it would be different. I would not be surprised if Crosman had most or all workers there on Friday.

I checked my Crosman login yesterday and my first order went through plus there was a degas tool in my cart. Crosman customer service said today that the warehouse guys caught the double order and cancelled my first order.
-
Their website is still having issues. I had to buy as a guest and still cant log into my account. They must have gotten slammed/overwhelmed with all the traffic.
-
FWIW, took receipt of guns today, but a scope that was ordered first, hasn’t shipped yet.
-
That is one heck of a deal and a hard one to pass up at that.
-
AGNATION is no longer valid.
-
AGNATION is no longer valid.
I noticed this as well. Do you guys & gals anticipate that the AGNATION code will work again at a later date after this sale has expired? Has it been temporarily suspended before?
-
I remember in the past people saying AGNATION did not work. It's worked when I happened to use it in the past.
-
AGNATION works just fine, it's just not valid on some sale items.
-

Harry, yes, I ordered one too! I wonder how long before Crossman ships? Out of the box with a fill pressure of 2700psi the extreme spread is very small for 24 shots @ 660fps with 14gr pellets.
-
AGNATION is no longer valid.
Sorry, I guess I should have been more specific. I meant it no longer will apply to some of these already discounted sale items like the PROD and .22 Maximus hunter. I didn't check any other sale items.

You are correct, AGNATION is not working anymore.
I suspect they were not planing on having a double discount.
-
I suspect they were not planing on having a double discount.
I think you're spot on. Glad I got in on time.
-
This has happen twice before. This time I received all three - sale price, discount, free shipping ... twice! ;D
I think the web staff generally is not on top of things. For example, I saw the Marauder rifle in various configurations - some versions had a page with msrp and another page with the sale price.
I do not know if the sale price plus discount afterwards is by plan for a few day, or if the staff makes an error and management gets it corrected - either immediately upon discovery, or later in order to move products.

The funny thing about that is that it's not that hard to implement correctly. Most, if not all, websites these days are ran off of a building program (i.e., Wordpress, Shopify, etc) and will either use a plugin or native capability to manage coupons/discounts. It's fairly easy to check the box or put the necessary parameters in to make it so they won't work with items that are already on sale. It's either complete incompetence or they don't mind having the double discount to, as you said, move a lot of product for a few days.

Are yall able to login to your accounts? I've tried with various devices and browser, but the connection keeps timing out.
-
I noticed that the standard syn and wood stocked marauders did not have any 25% off on the website, but the realtree versions did. Still are that way. The Mrod wasn't listed in the exclusions, either.
I placed three orders but did not use or try to login. Received two, and shipping label has been created for the 3rd.
-
My account was working - over they weekend, at least.
I mentioned a few posts back, some Marauders had the sale price, some did not - all have a sale price now, but the discount code does not work now.
But there were standard wood Marauders that did not have a sale price over the week - however scrolling to another page in the list, did show sale priced wood Marauders. And the discount code worked on top of that at checkout. BP2564W at $320.62 shipped.

When did you place your order? I placed mine on the 29th and haven't heard a peep.
-
Called Crossman this morning and spoke with Cameron about my Black Friday order status and he said it had already shipped Monday but I had not received an email detailing this as I had used PayPal to purchase it (and PayPal ALWAYS sends an email when items are shipped) and he said their (Crossman’s) system is glitchy occasionally but that it had shipped. Very good customer service/PR from them.

My email also put it in my spam folder. I got my prod yesterday and it's all in order. I may have gotten it so quick because I'm less than 2hrs from Bloomfield. Its accurate with cphp and I'm happy.

HI all
I logged in to my Crosman account and it said my orders complete . Does it Mean my orders has shipped ? ordered the Prod on Black Friday 29th, they posted the charge to my credit card already, I got no email from Crosman, not even email for order confirmation, been checking the spam folder also nothing, might have to give them a call.
Thanks for your input
-
Seems glitches in the Crosman system as previously mentioned.
My two orders have been quite well handled;
Rifle - ordered and email confirmed 29 Nov, invoiced and shipped 1 Dec, arrive 5 Dec (tomorrow)
Accessories/Amo - ordered and email confirmed 29 Nov, invoiced and shipped 30 Nov, arrive 4 Dec (today)
Both with UPS tracking numbers

I tried to take advantage of Crosman's holidays deal to purchase a Maximus Hunter but they declined the sale! They stated they could not ship an airgun to my home in Rhode Island as it would violate state law.??
""We cannot ship airguns to the following locations:
States: Delaware, Illinois (.22 caliber and greater), New Jersey, Rhode Island, District of Columbia
Counties: King County (WA)
Cities: Seaside (CA), Bridgeport (CT), Stratford (CT), New York (NY), Brooklyn (NY), Bronx (NY), Staten Island (NY), Queens (NY), Glen Oaks (NY), Floral Park (NY), Yonkers (NY), Buffalo (NY), Rochester (NY) Philadelphia (PA), York (PA)""
How did you guys in NY make out?
I have a call into Crosman's legal guy, Spencer, hopefully he can get back to me with the statute because this is ridiculous.
M
Addendum: JUST had a long conversation with Spencer and here is Crosman's official stand. (on RI anyway) RI statute §11-47-2 (3) states "Firearm" shall include any machine gun, pistol, rifle, air rifle, air pistol, "blank gun," "BB gun," so-called, or other instrument from which steel or metal projectiles are propelled, or which may readily be converted to expel a projectile, except recurve, compound, or longbows and except such instruments propelling such projectiles which instruments are designed or normally used for a primary purpose other than as a weapon. The frame or receiver of any such weapon shall be construed as a firearm under the provisions of this section."
Therefore, Crosman as a manufacturer and retail dealer of "firearms" is required to obtain a license by this law : "§ 11-47-38. Dealers to be licensed. No retail dealer shall sell or otherwise transfer, or expose for sale or transfer, or have in his or her possession with intent to sell or otherwise transfer, any pistol, revolver, or other firearm without being licensed as provided in this chapter."
SO, out of an abundance of caution in this litigious society, and not wishing to purchase a license to manufacture firearms in RI, they simply do not sell to RI residents. not worthy but I can see their point of view. Spencer was very pleasant to talk to, even siding with me in that he can sympathize with my frustration, encouraging me to get this (likely purposefully) very poorly written legislation clarified or ratified by the state since the ATFE is VERY specific as to what constitutes a firearm.
God bless our elected representatives for keeping us safe......

From my past experience if I just pay as a guest and with PayPal I get a "shipped/tracking number" email. If I log in and pay with my Credit Card I may or may not get a "shipped/tracking number" email. Of course the down side to buying as a guest is those orders don't ever show in the order history in my account.
I didn't order a P-Rod or any other guns with the double discount this time. I did order some steel breeches and some sights though and as a guest using PayPal and got a "shipped/tracking number" email. I don't know if not having an order in your account order history could ever cause a problem, say with a warranty issue for instance, because I have never had to deal with any warranty issues.
I don't know if the guest with PayPal is excluded from the glitch or correlates to the "glitch" any any real way, it just has been an observation of my experience so far.
It my not be a "software glitch" but just a human error on how the orders are being handled? When it come right down to it "software glitches" are human error too, if the programing is done right it will work right until it is corrupted later.
In a perfect world with perfect people mistakes/errors, and glitches would not exist. I think Crosman does a pretty good job!
I am surprised that the double discount was allowed for so long. MERRY CHRISTMAS to ALL!

I just presented some anecdotal evidence from my experience.
Anecdotal is like when you observe that 95% of people that got in a car accident in the last month ate dairy within a week of their accident. It would not prove any correlation to dairy foods and car accidents. ;D

My $230 P-ROD will arrive tomorrow according to UPS. Adult signature required.

Matt, do you have anyone you know in another state like family or close friends you could send it to the next time, then pick it up from them? Or have them purchase it and you pay for it?
-
Wow; that's got to be among the most restrictive airgun law in the U.S.A., considering even a Daisy b.b. gun a firearm. I know New Jersey has had a similar law for at least my lifetime (64 years) as I grew up there and you needed a state firearm I.D. card to even buy a b.b. gun.
Good luck getting that law changed. So many people in those eastern states go ballistic whenever a gun is even mentioned. They are crazy with fear over guns. It's another world that I unfortunately am exposed to every now and then with eastern relatives and friends. I got out as soon as I was old enough to do so.
-
With regards to that list I think by New York (NY) they mean Manhattan (the other four boroughs are on there). I'm in Upstate New York and got it two days ago and crosman also ships out of New York.
-
I am in downstate NY 1hr north of NYC and got mine yesterday. Never had an issue getting AG's and parts. The only vendor that won't ship to me is Walmart, not even an empty plastic box called "ammo can", but that's fine if they don't want my money. Their loss, not mine.
BTW, for some reason I always thought the Prod used Mrod magazines.. I just noticed today when I shot it and put it through the Chrono that the Prod uses an 8-round mag - smaller than the Mrod's 10-round. Had I known I would have ordered a couple of mags with the 25% code when I ordered the Prod :( Oh well, that one is one me. I messed up and now have to place another order.
Who has the best price on Prod .22 mags? I can't find it on Amazon. They all say Mrod "rifle".

I'm glad my family left New Jersey when I was 11. However, California is doing a great job catching up to them.

It looks like my PayPal PROD arrives on Monday. The Crosman CSR said on Tuesday that my first order that hung their website was not shipped since it was marked as a duplicate. Well they posted both the PayPal and the original order on my credit card. My account at Crosman has been locked out since Wednesday. I'll let the dust settle on the sale and have them fix the extra charge.
-
ranchibi, Sadly I do not have anyone nearby that I could ship the airgun to directly from Crosman that would not be more than a 2 hour drive each way. For that length of drive I could just dive up to NewEngland Airgun in MA, but obviously not at the Crosman direct price.
Then there is the option to have the Crosman Maximus Hunter shipped directly to my local gun shop that has a Federal Firearm License (FFL) (just a 45 min drive each way). I believe Crosman said they would ship to an FFL holder. I have two phone calls in to local FFL holders to see if they would be willing to do the 'transfer' and if I'd have to fill out a Federal 4473 (firearm purchase form) and also do a NCIC background check to keep the 4473 legal.
What is really odd is there is no 'paperwork requirements' (yet) to purchase a black powder muzzle loader in this state (aka 'firearm" by RI law). Anyone over 21 can just walk into any gunshop (some Wallmarts) and buy a 50cal muzzle stuffer and walk out with it, and it has a LOT more energy than any pellet gun. The bad news is if this is screwed up logic is brought to their attention to show them how ridiculous their law on airguns is, they simply ban direct sales of muzzle loaders too! RI is a truly beautiful state geographically, but politically it is a mess.
LOL, if this wasn't so "dang" stupid, it would laughable.
I realize it is an uphill battle to get this legislation resolved and people will probably just laugh at me and say it's been tried and can't be done. That is exactly what they said when I took up the fight to get spearfishing for Tuna legalized! Long story short, 2 1/2 years later and dozens of National Marine Fisheries Service meetings, some help from the spearfishing community and now my illustration is in a Federal document and it was legalized.
Anything is possible, it's just a LOT of work.

Right now Crosman has the best price.

Yep, my PROD arrived today and immediately made me realize I want 2 or 3 more magazines.
I'm impressed with the PROD. Better built than I expected. Crosman even includes a 5-shot test target shot at 10 yards, which shows a 1/4" group.
I just realized this PROD kind of makes my .22 caliber PP700S-A pistol redundant, so I just now decided I'll put that in the classifieds soon.

Crosman wants $15.84 for shipping to me for 3 magazines, and code AGNATION did not work on this. Pyramyd charges $7.99 shipping. With a 10% off coupon, this makes Pyramyd $6.40 cheaper for me. The Pyramyd VELOCITY-19 coupon is only valid on $100 or more now. They wised up this time, since we were placing $25 orders with the $25 off coupon.

You could make up a parts order and try to add a couple magazines. RC2208. $4.00 shipping.

How do you make up a parts order? All I can see is by calling customer service.

Guys, check your Bullseye Bucks at P/A!
I had forgotten all about them for a while and when I checked last night I had >2,000 so I got $20 off my 2 Prod Magazine order. It came out to a $8.35/mag after using 1 of the many 10% OFF codes (I used the GATEWAY-PYRAMYD).
PRODUCT & SERVICES $31.90
eGift card -$20
COUPON DISCOUNT -$3.19 (10% code)
SHIPPING (xxxx-zip code) $7.99
TOTAL (USD) $16.70
NO need to get 3 mags. It increases the shipping cost. You get 2 to 3 mags per fill anyway depending on the power setting. So if you order 2, plus the 1 the gun came with you have a total of 3 mags. Unless your Prod gets 30+ shots (which I don't know of any that do), you only need 3 mags at the most.

BTW, got mine a couple of days ago and no complaints so far. My first impressions:
The Prod is a little more quiet than I had expected so that's a good thing! The gun came fully functional and I like that it's lightweight. BIG difference from all the big (heavy) rifles I 've been shooting all these years, except for the Disco which is relatively light. I am sure once I mount a scope it will still feel light or just right around 5lbs. I am using it with the rifle stock so the scope will probably make it feel more balanced or more like a rifle, because without a scope it feels too light for a rifle setup.
15-shot string over the Chrono averaged 620fps with 14.3gr and standard deviation was very very small. Almost like it has a reglator. The gun is obviously set at low power (I am hoping) from the factory, so I will have to tinker with the power/spring adjustment screws to bring it up to 650-660fps where I prefer it. Starlings can be quick to react... Wish they shipped them setup with mid-power but that's fine. Not really complaining.
The only 2 things that bugged me a little were that it came with MANY finger prints all over the gun - on the breech, the air tube and the shroud :( It was like 2-3 people handled the gun. The guy that supposedly test shot it never wiped it down or at least didn't do a good job.
The 2nd thing is that the matte finish on the air tube is full of tiny little scratches that are easy to spot :( My guess is during assembly they kept rubbing the shroud on it or it was just not finished well. Did anyone else notice that on their Prod?
BTW, the matte finish on the shroud is much better and looks good. It's just the finish on the tube.

Harry, congratulations! I’m so glad to hear how quiet it is as mine will be the dedicated ratter if it shoots accurately. Mine is traversing the whole US to get to me and is supposed to arrive Monday! I hope mines barrel likes JSB RS as for some reason I have many tins of these for...oh yea,...it was for the RWS 48 that I ended up trading! LOL! Fingers crossed that it likes these. Also, ordered a cheap Sniper 1-5x24 30mm FFP IR scope off of fleabay for cheap...hope it works well too..LOL! Enjoy shooting it and keep me up to date on what pellets it likes and tuning etc.! 🤓
-
Wow you got an FFP scope! Good luck with it Randall. I still don't have one of those after all these years :)
Yes, at low power right now the Prod is at least as quiet and probably more than my Mrod .25 which has a 6" shroud extension and I consider to be VERY quiet. I am pretty sure the report will go up as I increase the power but it should still be very neighborhood friendly. FYI - if you dry fire it (without a pellet) it will naturally be a lot louder, so wait until you shoot a pellet before you judge it :)
The .22 pellets I have on hand and going to test it with (hopefully when I scope it tomorrow):
14.3 CPHP (tin)
14.3 CP brown box
14.3 JSB Express
13.43 JSB RS
14.5 RWS Superdome
14.66 H&N FTT
I have heavier ones like JSB 15.89/18.1, H&N Baracuda, etc. but they will be too slow in the Prod, so I am sticking with 13.x-14.x weight. This will be mostly a Starling gun so I need faster moving pellets because they get very nervous & skittish on my property especially after I have shot a couple, so my goal is to tune it for at least mid-600's so that the yellow beaks don't have a chance to twitch or move if they hear the report (I think they will) from 22 yards where the bait site will go up soon now that there is snow on the ground and they are desperate for food.
Anyway, the only gun I have that likes the JSB RS is the Hammerli 850 .22, but I am kind of hoping the Prod also likes the inexpensive CPHP's being that it's a Crosman gun and should like Crosman pellets. Only issue with those Crosman tins is that sometimes you get a good one and other times a bad one. They are not very consistent. The trick is to shoot some as soon as you get a tin from Walmart. If they shoot well run back to get more, and hopefully they are from the same lot. My WM usually has them from $5.69 to $6.59 (500 tin) depending on the day and the SG's manager's mood :)
Bet you can't wait till Monday :) Try not to think about it... Yeah right! ;D

Harry, all my scopes are now FFP because I got one then realized there was no way I could go back to SFP! Being able to change magnification without a change in POI is the shizzle! LOL! There are many inexpensive FFP scopes now all from China but most are really good. The one I got for the prod from eBay, the seller had a make an offer, they were asking 120, I put in 110 and immediately it said accepted! I should have offered 100! It’s a 30mm tube but very compact and light with IR...I’ll give a review on it after I get it. You definitely need to try an FFP scope...you’ll never look back! Please let me know which pellet yours likes and hopefully the JSB RS! 🤓 Also heard they really like the H&N Power (copper) and Sniper Light....I have the Sniper but not the Power...h’mmm...oh, and David, Rocker1 makes a full carbon fiber shroud with baffles that quiets it down more for under 100 I believe. Like you, I want mine shooting 13-14gr pellets @ 650ish and saw some threads that said at that speed we’ll get 3 mags with very small deviation in speed. Was thinking of adding a reg but as you said it comes shooting with low deviation. Hot diggity I can’t wait! It’s only two cities away now as of yesterday eve! Finger tapping...whistling...panicking..LOL 😉

How do you make up a parts order? All I can see is by calling customer service.
Go to the Crosman site and look at the EVP for your gun. Write the part numbers down. Call CS and tell them you have a parts order. They may or may not let you order the magazine. But this is still the best place to get OEM parts.
-
FWIW: The air tube finish on mine looks to be OK. Same as what I've seen on multiple other Prods. It is a slightly different shade than the shroud. I suspect that is driven by the two different material, steel vs aluminum.
I would be interested in what build dates people are receiving. Mine is Nov 2019, ie a recent build.
Serial number is on the front, right-hand side of air tube. First digit is month (1-9, O, N, D), followed by two digits for the year.

My prod is 1 hole accurate with the h&n baraccuda hunters and the ft powers. I'm ordering a ton more barracuda hunters for it but not from amazon. Check out this tin I got from them the other day.
-
Harry, the finish on the one I got yesterday is fine. Trigger is very nice. I also noticed it's quieter than say, my PP700 at the same power. Mine is shooting right around 650-660 fps right out of the box with the same pellets you tested with (CP HP 14.3 gr.) I was amazed at the consistency, almost like it was regulated, just like you stated. In fact here is my first 10-shot string when filled to 2800 psi on the gauge:
1 - 650
2 - 651
3 - 657
4 - 654
5 - 664
6 - 663
7 - 660
8 - 661
9 - 662
10 - 662
This is exactly where I want it, so won't touch a thing. When I put 3000 psi in it (rather than 2800), the string started lower: 1 - 632, 2 - 638, 3 - 641, so I figure 2800 is a good pressure to fill it to.
With the carbine stock and a small 4x scope and medium rings, it still only weighs 4.5 pounds. The cheek rest on the plastic stock is about 2 inches too low. I put a piece of black foam pipe insulation on it and it's still an inch low. I'm going to make my own simple and thin walnut stock for it. Shouldn't be too hard, using two 3/4" walnut boards that I'll inlet to the grip frame before gluing together. I'll cut out the center of the stock to reduce weight. Now that I learned about power mini belt sanders (https://www.harborfreight.com/53-Amp-12-in-Heavy-Duty-Bandfile-Belt-Sander-62863.html (https://www.harborfreight.com/53-Amp-12-in-Heavy-Duty-Bandfile-Belt-Sander-62863.html)), shaping the stock will be easier.

Got my Prod today, I was amazed, this little pistol can shoot very accurate, mounts a 6x32 Walther scope with AO and Mil dots, the short scope fit very well to the Prod , i want something that i can put on my back pack , i am very satisfied with this set up . My Prod shooting CPHP 14.3 @ 630 fps that produces 12.27 fpe at the muzzle, at 20 yards 8 shots group is smaller than a dime , the pistol shoulder very well with my eyes level, the light weight makes my shooting very fun , there’s no finger prints or oil on the barrel or anywhere, looks like a virgin ! I am very happy with this purchase, should get this Prod long long time ago .
Thanks the original poster again .

Thanks Randall, I really like this little guy, first victim of the Prod is a gecko from 18 yards away, decimated the body in half !

That's awesome Mike!!! That's exactly where I want mine to be. You want to swap Prod's? :) I am hoping to be tinkering with the power settings later today. If not tomorrow.
The lower velocity #'s you are seeing starting with 3k psi is due to a little valve lock which can be fixed with increasing the spring travel, but I wouldn't touch a thing on your Prod!! I would just start with 2800psi fills.

Good luck with it. Mine is Oct. '19.

Prods were available in 2010. The WW were either available that year or the next. Mrods gen 1 and 2, Prods, Fortitudes, 1720T, and 1701P, I know follow this. Unlikely they would use something different for the WW.

Mine is December 2016 -- finished at 1202PM by inspector 94
OK I made that last bit of info up but based on my number. :P
-
Hey Dan, my serial number is only 3 numbers higher than yours, but mine was made in October '19. So... O19120297. How is this possible? I'm sure they made more than 3 between October and December.
Do you have your reading glasses on? Maybe what you thought was a "D" is really an "O" ? :D

Oops, sorry, I didn't realize (or read correctly) that you said 2016, not 2019. My mistake.
Wow, you think they make over 120,000 of these a year?

MYYZZZ123
M =Month
YY=Year
ZZZ=Product Code
123=# sequential number built that month

That would mean they never built or planned to build more than 999 a month?

If anyone happens to have a pair of calipers (mine broke) could you tell me the ID of the shroud? Or the OD of the baffle looking thing on the end of the barrel that fits inside the shroud.
-
Well Chris, depending on which object you measure, you will get two very different numbers, both taken with the calipers touching the threads. See these two pictures.

Mines been on a UPS truck in my neighborhood for 3 hours....LOL!

LOL....it just arrived! Woo Hoo!

Mine came in today!!
Looks like it was manufactured
Oct. ‘19
Off to get some pellets then time to break out the chrony and see where were at! Let the fun begin :D

Have fun with your new Prod Randall!
I am glad the UPS driver decided to deliver it and not take it home with him. I am guessing that's why he was driving around for 3 hours and not stopping. He was thinking: "Free Prod for me and risk my job, or drop it off and get my own" ;D

LOL Steve! I swear it was two streets over a few times as I watched the live feed GPS image! Didn’t shoot the truck! LOL! I watched it traverse for 3 hours all within 2 miles of me and most in the block I reside in! Crazy as all can be...but I think because I had to sign for it, I think the drivers deliver those last so they don’t have to try the day after!
-
Mines been on a UPS truck in my neighborhood for 3 hours....LOL!
Have fun with your new Prod Randall!
I am glad the UPS driver decided to deliver it and not take it home with him. I am guessing that's why he was driving around for 3 hours and not stopping. He was thinking: "Free Prod for me and risk my job, or drop it off and get my own" ;D
Harry, you and Steve have me in stitches! Cleaned the barrel, mounted the new scope which by the way arrived today from VA shipped Saturday....two days! Can’t wait to sight it in, chrony it and see what pellets it prefers! Ordered the RAI adapter and UTG adjustable stock for it too on the way from PA. Rattus beware!

I believe it breaks down like this:
MYYZZZ123
M =Month
YY=Year
ZZZ=Product Code
123=# sequential number built that month
That would mean they never built or planned to build more than 999 a month?
I can’t say I’ve seen a 500 or higher number. I don’t think they are close to doing 1000 a month.

I agree, and if they did the serial number would just get one digit longer.
-
Mine was born O19....
-
Ok I understand the number sequence stated by Fuzzy previously since I have a 1720T with a build date of O17 but I had a prod I sold about a month ago to get the 1720T that had a build date of 916. So is the first digit supposed to be a letter or number as in "9" for September 2016 or should it have been a "S" for September 2016. I do not believe it was built in 1999 since I bought it new from crosman in 2016 time frame for the Prod I just sold. The 1720T I bought used at hickory airgun show this past October.
The full number on the prod was 916121240 with a slash thru the 0 to indicate a number not the letter O. My 1720T is O17121095 again with a slash thru the 0 before the 95 to indicate a number not a letter.
It would make more sense to use a number as the month rather than a letter due to January/June/July all being a "J " IMO.
Got me cornfused. ??? ???

-
Yes, the month goes 1-9, which is Jan - Sept, with letters being used for Oct, Nov, Dec.

These P-rods with out any mods will accurately lob 30 gr. .22 NOE BBT cast slugs a little over 400 FPS and deliver killer energy out to 30 + yards BTW.

Anthony, congratulations! Luv your RAI type adapter and UTG butt stock! I have the same adapter and butt stock on the way from PA! Got to shoot mine today and it was one ragged hole @ 20yds with JSB RS going 675fps. Also picked up a single shot loader off of the bay that pulls out, load, shoot..fun! Will post pics after other parts arrive.

Interesting, but where does the "killer energy" come from? 30 grains at 407 fps is 11 ft.lbs. 14.3 grains at 660 fps is 13.8 ft.lbs.

Got my $230 P-Rod today:
I hate having to be around to sign for packages...
I am planning to use this as a carbine. A good plan, as it is way muzzle heavy as a pistol.
The trigger is brilliant out of the box. I adjusted the stop screw, but will want to shorten that, as it is going to bite me where it pokes out below the trigger guard...
Came with 800 PSI on the gauge. Have not pumped it up yet. Shot a few wet, then dry cleaning pellets through it. Not loud; although it hard to tell at such low pressure.
Based on all the Crosman .22 cal barrel horror stories I had heard, I had formulated a plan to fire-lap it out of the box. I changed my mind because the bore is mirror bright; and the lands look all of a whopping 1/1000" tall. Pre shot out, if you will. Actually, micro-groove rifling springs to mind. The test target shows a 1/4" group at 10 yards. Perhaps, no barrel intervention is required.
The plastic butt stock is interesting/weird, and may not be ergonomically sound.
The objection of making the P-Rod a "bottle gun" by replacing the reservoir tube with a bottle, stands. That would make it even more front heavy; and ugly. However, what about making a new stock that incorporates either a regulated bottle, or an appropriately sized tube air reservoir to augment the standard one? This would boost the shot count, create a better balanced carbine.
The front and rear air supplies would be connected by means of small diameter hydraulic brake tubing. Such tubing is easily form-able, yet can stand very high pressure.
Something like this for a regulated bottle. Not settled on exact specs:

Just needed the adapter used' the Tanto from another gun. All the parts came before the gun. Plus it was cheaper than getting the one P.A. was selling for 599.00

That would give it a very high shot count and with easy transfer port porting could make it a beast! I hope you do these mods!

I contemplated doing a bottle fed regulated PROD. The problem is most folks cut the air tube which depletes the available plenum. Those aluminum bottles are pretty heavy. The one I got off of AliExpress reminds of one of those bottles used at baseball throw concessions at a carnival.

Got to shoot mine today and it was one ragged hole @ 20yds with JSB RS going 675fps. Also picked up a single shot loader off of the bay that pulls out, load, shoot..fun! Will post pics after other parts arrive.
Thanks! I ordered the gun and all the parts I wanted the same day. Ordered my the RAI adapter and UTG butt stock from P.A. ordered an adapter from DonnlyFL for the moderator(Tanto). All the parts came before the gun. Plus it was cheaper than getting the one P.A. was selling for 599.00
I emailed Rocker1 to see if he still makes the full carbon fiber baffled shroud for these...hope he does! If not, I’ll be going Donny like you 😉👍.

I contemplated doing a bottle fed regulated PROD. The problem is most folks cut the air tube which depletes the available plenum. Those aluminum bottles are pretty heavy. The one I got off of AliExpress reminds of one of those bottles used at baseball throw concessions at a carnival.
As I stated clearly; do not alter the stock air tube at all. Use it as the plenum. Add a bottle that becomes the backbone of the butt stock. This will improve balance.
My Cometa Lynx (image below) has a 2" OD bottle that is not particularly heavy. Adding weight to P-Rod until it weighs a well balanced 6 lb would not spoil it. That is 3.3 lb before you reach 6 lb. Or pick 5 lb total...

What about making a butt stock that uses the same tube as the stock air tube, for the stock's spine? Could one not double the air capacity?
Use some of this tubing to connect the two air tanks:

OK, I have four mags of pellets through the P-Rod; all at factory settings. This is without sights, pointing over the chrony from a foot.
Hand pumping it from 800 PSI was a nuisance, but not too bad; due to the small air reservoir.
Shooting just 3 mags and then pumping it up is the way to go, as there are fewer strokes the higher the pressure gets, even if they require more effort (I am heavy, and just drop my weight on the pump handle :) ) Also, the velocity variation over 24 shots between 2800 and 1800 PSI was just 25 FPS.
Starting from 2900 PSI on the P-Rod's gauge, the velocity with JSB 15.9 grain domes started right at 600 FPS. By 2800 PSI the velocity had increased to 625 FPS. At 2500 PSI the velocity peaked at 650 FPS. Then it dropped back to 630 FPS by 1800 PSI, on the 24th shot.
At 2900 PSI the report was surprisingly mild. The report increased throughout the string; rapidly from about 1600 PSI, where it was unpleasant. I stopped shooting at 1500 PSI with the velocity 600 FPS. Then went and pumped the P-Rod back up to 3000 PSI for a general leak test.
The mag is hard to insert into the breech. I am sure this will ease up with use.
I would like the report to be like it was at 1900 PSI. If the velocity could remain at 600 FPS over 3 mags, that would be OK with me. That would be 12.7 ft.lb. With the factory settings it is averaging 14 ft.lb over 24 shots.
It seems to be set to a very usable velocity spread at the factory, so I am probably not going to mess with it for awhile. Perhaps try some 25 grain pellets for grins. That would shoot a bit over 500 FPS, which could be interesting, if it is much quieter. Sure, if I was going to shoot 30 yards, then closer to 650 FPS would seem like a better idea.
I still can't get over how the barrel looks almost like a smooth bore. As long as all pellets are stable in flight... There was no change in gloss level from shooting 4 mags of pellets, so the bore seems to be as smooth as it looks, in terms of collecting lead. I am used to looking at the GM barrel of my .25 Marauder. That has proper looking rifling, but also seems to pick up a lot of lead rather quickly. Time for that to be fire-lapped :).
Happy with the P-Rod at this price-point. Handy little carbine.
-
These P-rods with out any mods will accurately lob 30 gr. .22 NOE BBT cast slugs a little over 400 FPS and deliver killer energy out to 30 + yards BTW.
Interesting, but where does the "killer energy" come from? 30 grains at 407 fps is 11 ft.lbs. 14.3 grains at 660 fps is 13.8 ft.lbs.
The heavy slug keeps its energy down range, where a pellet has the air brakes on as soon as it leaves the barrel.

If you turn the stroke adjuster in the hammer CW about an 1/8 turn at a time to shorten the hammer throw you can tighten the spread up over your 24 shots to get an even flatter shot string. Just go slowly and record the amount you adjust it so you can always go back to the factory setting if desired.

Awesome!
The hammer spring preload and hammer stroke seem to interact. I can see how too little hammer energy just can't crack the valve, if the pressure is to high.
I understand that the hammer stroke adjuster could push the valve open more or less far for a given hammer energy; yet, if the hammer blow is fast enough, would not the valve's momentum carry it further than it was pushed?
I get the impression that folks tend to run very short hammer stroke settings, and mainly vary hammer spring.
I wonder if anyone has a shot string where they vary only the hammer stroke to get an idea of what it does...
Then, there is the flow control. I assume the screw on the right side of the receiver opposite the TP is the flow control?
All that said, a 25 FPS variation of 24 shots seems pretty good for an unregulated PCP.
EDIT: The Marauder manual has more info about the setting screws than the P-Rod manual:

You have a good grasp of the interaction of the hammer tension versus hammer stroke adjustments so just play with it some to see the relations between the two, also the Prod does not have the air screw in the side of the valve that controls the air flow thru the TP that the Mrods have so only hammer spring and stroke adjustments From experience and research there does not appear to be an actual factory setting for these guns. I would turn both the spring and stroke adjustment fully CCW and record the number of turns from where they are now to get a baseline setting so you can always go back to where it is now.
Then play around to see if you can get it better in the ES for a string. Agreed 25 fps per 24 shot string is not bad at all but wouldn't it be nice to have only 12 to 15 fps total. The idea with the hammer stroke is to reduce the throw which will reduce the variance in hammer strike energies for each shot thereby reducing the fps spread. Its definitely a balancing act between the adjustments.
There is always the mod of drilling the TP port out a little bigger for more power if that is desired. I believe its at .067" now and the prod I had I drilled out to .089" to get up to 700 fps with 15.89s for the same 24 shots with around the same ES.
I sold it to get a 1720T for use in FT pistol and as a carbine for hunter class.
See attached A-team tuning PDF, its for the Mrods but still applies to the Prods as far as hammer spring and stroke settings.

Just a heads up. I had and adjustment screw fall out of my Prod trigger (from vibrations), and the threads were pretty loose tolerances. I used some reusable thread lock on it and it's stays put now but is still adjustable. When it fell out it found the adjuster hole and was gone, so I had to get a replacement.

Christopher, I too REALLY LIKE the PRods weight as is out of the box! So easy to shoulder and get on target. The one I received was born in October like only1harry’s and both of ours have lower tunes from the factory than those built in November. I like it as mine likes the JSB RS shooting @ 675fps..it’s quiet, accurate, efficient and ES is good, not going to change the factory tune. Really enjoying this little carbine, hope you are too!

I ordered this stock from Tom West for my new P-rod. The quality of this gun really deserves better than that cheap plastic stock with too low of a comb. With the low price $230 we paid for these P-rods, the price with this Tom West stock is still about the same as the normal price for a P-rod. I learned he has a CNC machine he uses to cut these stocks.

How did you get hold of Tom West?

I had a nice set made by RB, which included foregrip, skeleton stock insert, and not shown, grips. These were graciously provided by another GTA member, but because I didn't have a stock Prod, sat in the drawer. Scope is bug buster, with offset mount. Offset is good, height is higher than I like. LDC by Rocker1, and Baker trigger shoe.

I think he use to hang out at the Green Crosman forum. Sold stocks occasionally on Ebay, under name "urg_thrash" or something close to that. I have one of his stocks on a 1720T.

Mr. Mike/Techie, that stock looks dashing!
I love the look of laminates though ;D...Does he make them in laminates too like the Thai guy (exclusive Shop Store)?
It is nice that the Crosman platform has so many aftermarket parts--and sky is the limit!
Recently got a pair of ambidextrous Green Forest Camo laminate grips (to fit the 13xx/22xx/17xx trigger frame) from Mr. Vernon Austin and it looks remarkable!
Very exacting tolerance and nicely shaped my fingers go gaga--you know, like caressing the curves of a lovely woman ;D.

Very good. The only "complaint" I have, is ergo based. The grip is fatter than I like, and haven't had the "guts" to try to work on it. I like the little squirrel badges on it. Very fitting, given its primary responsibility is red squirrels at camp.

Here is Tom West's website. It has pictures of his stocks and contact information. I'm under the impression he has just these pictured designs and likes to stick to them. Prices tend to be under $200. His standard designs are easy for him to make, hence the low price. If you ask for something custom, I'm not sure he will be willing to do that, and if so, I would expect to pay a much higher price.

So, I pumped my new P-Rod to 3000 PSI, 12 hours ago. After it cooled the gauge read 2900 PSI. Now it reads 1600 PSI. In other words, there is a leak!
I supposed I should apply some silicone oil to the fill port and pump it back up to see if that helps. Am I correct that the fill port does not have a sintered metal filter on it? If so, incidental dust could get in.
I really do not want to send this back...
-
On older Prods, the sintered filter was on the output of the fill assy. I haven't had a new one apart yet, to see if they are still that way.

Glad to help .
On the leak I will bet its from the foster fill fitting where it screws into the tube plug, I have had several crosman guns that leak slowly there. I use a balloon over the front of the tube with a rubber band on it to keep it tight to the tube. If it inflates then move it to just behind the foster to determine if its the plugs o-ring or the fosters NPT threads. If its the NPT threads try tightening the fitting about 1/2 turn and retest. That has worked on several I encountered.
I hate using soapy water on guns to find leaks. balloons are much cleaner but slower.

I pumped it back up to 3000 PSI four hours ago. Does not seem to be leaking. More time will tell..
Hope I blew out whatever might have been in the valve.

Deliberately drenching any "gun" in soapy water may be effective for leak detection, but it makes me cringe. On painted aluminum it can't do much harm, but when there is steel nearby I dislike it on general principle. Any residue that gets between aluminum and steel now has a hygroscopic material at a bi-metallic junction. Perfect for starting corrosion.
I was going to blow a little silicone oil into the foster fitting, but mine ran out after the bottle tipped over in the closet... I ordered more, but pumped the P-Rod up again without it. I made a point of thumping the pump fast into the end of the stroke, so as to pop the fill valve open as aggressively as possible. For now, that seems to have worked...

Yup our Oct.'19 Prods are in the 13fpe range where others with Nov. '19 build dates appear to come tuned in the 14's. Probably different person building them or tuning them before they go in the box.
Tested mine more today with JSB RS 13.43 after I found another 500 tin that I forgot I had. This time I let the air in the Prod get up to room temperature (71-72 deg) because the last time I tested I filled from a cold tank that's in a room where I have the heat down to 60 and started testing with different pellets right away. It averaged 678fps with a low SD of 2.1 for 2 10-shot strings. Almost half the shots were 678 and 679. That's 13.7 FPE which is not bad, and I am thinking of leaving it like this for a while because it seems to be pretty efficient for a gun with such a small air capacity/tube. I am getting 3 mags/24 shots from 2800psi down to ~2150. At 2900-3k it's getting some valve lock because of the lower power "factory tune". It appears to be most consistent from 2700 to 2200.
I mounted a Bugbuster 3-9x32 tonight and was glad to see that my Prod is no different and was stacking JSB RS pellets in the same hole (13yd indoor range). Tomorrow I am hoping to try it out on some targets with a long yellow beak after I sight in at 25yds :)

You will know in less than an hour with a balloon if used. Small ones for the fill end or barrel and big ones for the entire tube assembly.
Place a balloon over the end of the barrel to check from valve out thru TP into barrel with shroud removed. If its not expanding a balloon at the fill end of tube or barrel then it may be a nicked o-ring at the gauge block or loose gauge. The gauge is also NPT threads and I have had to remove both the gauges and /or fill fitting to clean and replace Teflon tape to get to seal.
If no leaks found at fill end or barrel then I remove all components from air tube and use large party balloons to stretch completely over the tube from hammer end to cover gauge and the hole in tube for the gauge to determine if its an o-ring or gauge leaking. If it inflates then I pull balloon back off gauge area so it just covers the valve and TP area to insure its not a bad valve o-ring or poppet valve. Its just a process of elimination of potential leak areas to find the exact source. Time consuming yes but very effective and precise in locating the source of leak.

Harry! So glad yours likes the RS too! Both of ours are shooting pretty much the same speed and accurately. Was shooting 3/8” water beads at 20yds off of golf tees this morning picking them clean off the tee 🤓. Also shooting the stems off of fallen plumeria tree leaves...so fun! LOL! It looks like I have found the 1000 PSI per day leak on my new P-Rod: I cranked the pressure gauge another 1/6th turn tighter (not that it was loose). It has been several hours and the pressure is holding steady.
This, after cranking the foster fitting a half a rev tighter, with no change in the leak rate.
I get the impression that if I cranked the gauge another half turn, something would break off. So, rather than abuse it, refreshing whatever sealant is in the thread (teflon tape?) would be indicated.
Anyway, an observation that might be connected to the gauge thread leak: The P-Rod came out of the box with a dark slippery patch on one side of the air tube that looked like silicon oil. It seemed to originate where the pressure gauge screws in to the tube; as if had been blown out at the joint. If so, someone put a lot of liquid inside the air reservoir, either as standard practice, or as a diagnostic...
Else, the oil was added on the outside to diagnose a leak. Or was it soap. It feels like oil; but then so does soap. The test would be if it is water soluble. On the other hand, oil makes the matte black air cylinder finish look darker and glossier (it is). Soap would probably leave a white residue.
Anyway, finding an oil patch on a new Crosman/Benjamin might help others find their leaks faster...

Yes the fluid you found is likely silicone used at assembly that leaked out, but I have seen this same fluid staining on guns with no leaks as well so its not a 100% indicator of actual leak area.
Glad you found the leak though and an FYI, Crosman uses a black type of tape on their NPT fittings that I have found to be either good or bad at sealing the threads. I have had mixed results with it on new from the factory guns so I guess its dependent on the assemblers proper use of it. Also I have had mixed results with tightening the joint about 1/4 to 1/2 turn to stop the leak or not, if not I always remove and retape with new Teflon tape. Just make sure to remove all traces of old tape for a leak proof repair. Some use the yellow gas line tape but I have had great results with good old white Teflon tape if applied in 3 to 4 wraps on threads.
Enjoy shooting your leak free prod.

Is the gas line tape thicker and more durable?

Is the gas line tape thicker and more durable?
I can not answer that question as I have never used it, I know its meant for use with sealing gas line as in propane and natural gas and is supposedly yellow in color. It can be found at most home repair outlets. I have tried the gray water line tape and its far to thick to stay in place on the NPT fittings we use in airguns. I assume that water pipe threads are much coarser and less of an exact fit is why its thicker.
When I run out of the white Teflon tape I may give the gas line tape a try but see no need to buy it till I need more sealing tape.
Others with experience using the gas line tape may have more info on it.

I have been using the yellow gas line tape for years. It is at least twice as thick as the standard white tape.
As far as the oil, the parts are well oiled to prevent rust while they are sitting in the parts bin. Usually the oil that weeps from the gauge area is just that oil that is trapped between the two O-rings on the gauge block.

Yes, the 1399 Crosman stock is low without a cheekpiece.
Not a PROD but I can convert this pistol into a carbine using an Aero Precision A2 buffer tube (gave the A2 tube to Mr. V. Austin for his template and service).
Mr. VA makes high quality laminate furniture.

The adapter is from JSAR.
The adjustable buttplate attached to the VA laminated shoulder pad is a Talon Tunes WokButt ;D.
Actually, I intend to move the grips to my 13xx as I will order a matching forearm.
Got other stuff from Mr. VA, btw ;D.
His stuff is very high quality and precisely fitted--he is fond of matte finish though, so I intend to polish it...On a 2nd thought, matte does not show finger prints ;D.

The Crosman grip frame is speckle-powdercoated.
Dunno why Crosman uses those abhorrent casting-scarred grip frames.
They do look very nice once refinished ;D.
I though PROD grips were better but they too are ugly, lol!

Who is "Mr. VA", "Mr. V. Austin"? I did a member search on this forum and can't find any name like that.
-
Recently, I read a post about a plug for the rear of the P-Rod receiver tube. There was mention of air blast from the back when shooting.
Mine seems to blow air out the back when shooting. This confuses me. Where is the air coming from? Surely it can't be HPA leaking. Surely the hammer causes suction when it moves forwards, rather than blowing out the back.
The only thing I can think would be a leak at the breech O-ring, or TP. That said, the air does not bother me, and the gun is shooting at 14 FPE, so it can't be a serious leak.
Actually, I am having flashbacks of it being leakage around the poppet valve stem, because that does not have an O-ring. I can see that an O-ring would cause drag on the valve stem. But the bushing would need to be a very close fit to prevent wasted air. Do I understand correctly?

Yes, Herr Vernon Austin ;D..
You will be surprised by the quality of his grips.
I already knew he was an outstanding craftsman (and I am not exactly exactly gullible when it comes to laminate stocks--moi being a big fan of Tony Mele 10/22 custom stocks) but I was elated by the quality of his work ;D.
I did ask him if he can do PROD forearms but he said ''NO."
He might be convinced if there are more people who will order from him ;D.

Can one actually buy a PROD breech from Crosman?
Sorry for the semi OT question but I am curious ;D.
Thanks!
-
Thank you, Randall sir ;D.
-
Skeets sir, I will ask them tomorrow if they are open.
Reason I am asking is because I bought a member's PROD brand new take-off parts.
I am particularly zeroed on the tube as I intend to send it to Don Cothran to be copied in stainless and without a gauge hole--a bit longer too, it being a 2260 tube format.
It should have more air intake ;D.
Just checked--Crosman is open Mondays to Fridays only.
-
Yup you can all of extra parts for the Prod from Crosman. I have several breeches for barrel changes. From Arrow gun, GM .25, JMM HF .22, LW .22 and a Mrod .177 slugger barrel.

Ricky
See if Don has made up the new valve for the Prod? For high power like the disco valve. Let me know if you find anything out ok.
Thanks Randy

Unfortunately, Mr. Cothran has not made those yet (re valve), and yes, I keep bugging him for the stainless high breech, lol!

Cool because they will not look up a part number for you when you call. I think you were typing the thanks to randy when I posted it and since your post was there immediately after mine thought you may have missed seeing it.

I will ring them on Monday!
I hope the PROD tube is not too different from the 22xx's as Mr. Cothran might frown upon my request, lol!
I am aware of their identical I.D. and O.D. though but the slots and holes may be different.
Thanks again, Mr. Dan!

You are correct that the poppet valve stem does not have an o ring on it and so some small puff of air will exit past the stem when firing but not enough to affect shot power or efficiency. Also the hammer has the sides milled flat so as not to create a vacuum behind the hammer when fired so it does displace some air around it when its slung forward during a shot. Likely you are feeling both some air past the stem as well as the hammer displacing air during a shot. My previous Prod and my current 1720T both did/does the same thing so just the nature of the beast. FYI the 1720T is just a .177 prod with a LW barrel otherwise externally and internally the same and use lots of the same parts such as everything below the breech, bolt /probe and barrel.
BD
-
Yes. The 1720T looks interesting. It is a single shot P-ROD in .177, with a "proper barrel". Saw it when I bought the P-Rod.
Pyramyd want a boatload of money for it. Crosman's price is much lower, but they are out of stock...

Bets are Tp is leaking. David

I hope the PROD tube is not too different from the 22xx's as Mr. Cothran might frown upon my request, lol!
I think the main differences are the four breech screw holes and valve retention holes. No tiny breech screw hole.

Yep, out the adjustment. From what was explained to me, that air is normal(NO leaks) and its actually dangerous to try and "cap" it.
Lemme see if i can find that post.
No danger in capping it at the end cap as it will just exhaust out the trigger slot and hammer pin slot of the tube. You just wont feel it in the face.

Sounds like its missing a TP seal and blowing air back under the tube into the hammer area. I better make some gen 2 Prod valves.....

The FPS/FPE of the guns are not lower than normal so definitely not TP seal beside that would be blowing out from under the sides of the breech as well which it is not doing.
+1 on some Prod/1720T valves getting made for sure.

Yes unfortunately FedEx and UPS is very overwhelmed during the holidays and they make a lot of mistakes too. The Prod Mags I ordered from P/A came to the FedEx facility in my town on Wednesday 12/11 which was supposed to be the day of delivery. Then they handed it off to USPS (which FedEx does when they are busy, and the worse thing they can do) and they sent it to the wrong town 50+ miles away! Now 3 days later after FedEx website said a # of things like "delivery exception" and "routed to revised delivery address" and finally "routed to correct address", it's STILL in a town's post office about 35-40 miles away in another county and they had revised the delivery date for today :( Yeah right... If I see those mags before Christmas I 'll be lucky. I am glad this didn't happen with the Prod.

I do feel your pain as I had it just happen to me with a new tv remote sent to me by dish tv. It was also sent fedlax smart post which means that usps is the actual delivery carrier. It showed accepted at my local post office for a week with no further updates. I called the post office and started a case on it and after another week I was contacted by usps inquiring about my case. then two days later it shows up in my mailbox in perfect condition. I have the usps informed consent so I get an email everyday showing what mail/packages will be coming that day. I had no notice that I had a package coming the day the remote showed up in my mailbox, then the following day I get the usps email showing it would be out for delivery that day, uh duh I already got it.
Then today my informed consent email showed three letters coming but there was nothing in my mailbox so its all carriers that are slipping in their job performances. Just cannot get good help these day. No pride in there jobs anymore IMO.

Richard, you are right about price but JSAR is not producing any parts for tunes as far as I know like a Mike said above. Didn’t like any others available as they were not adjustable..and I got a discount from PA on UTG. New England AG has a combo set but I have peace of mind with PA’s return policy on defective items for just a little more.

The problem with both UPS and fedlax is when they get the usps involved those package are placed in big bags that sit in the UPS/fedlax hubs until there are enough package in the bag going to a local usps distribution center to warrant it to be loaded on a pallet and placed in their truck to ship to the local usps center so it could be a day or week before it actually leave a UPS/fedlax hub enroute to usps centers.
I had a good friend that worked for fedlax for years and he told me how the smart post system works. I just wish each carrier would deliver there own packages and quits this pass the buck program.

Fedex and UPS have contracts with the USPS to deliver their smart post and sure post packages. The 7.99 price for shipping at PA is the smart post shipping option. Pay the extra $3-4 dollar and get the fedex or ups home delivery options. Not making excuses for poor handling and delivery but that's the way they do business.

I see it as both a USPS problem and a problem of our making, and that we know about and the result of us choosing the cheapest method of delivery. When/if we choose those cheaper shipping options, we are telling them that slow is what we choose in order to save a couple of bucks.
It saves FedEx, UPS, and USPS, and they then pass on some of that savings to us, WHEN we choose it!
Now back to the way the USPS handles it. It would be great if USPS just treated all packages in their possession the same, but I am sure they don't want to even create the illusion that "the cheap way" of "sharing transportation of packages with the other carriers is just as good as just shipping with them at a higher cost and greater profit to them.
I will say it makes sense to me that it cost more for one carrier to transport and deliver all over the place than it does for them to do the bulk movement to a close by USPS facility and the USPS that is likely already out doing a delivery to your house, to finish the shipping by doing the delivery as they drive by your house.
Of course, more hands on will lead to a greater chance of problems and the ability to pass the buck if something goes wrong, so choose wisely and what is in accord with you budget, grasshopper!
-
This year, I have had good luck with all carriers, except for a minor local weather related issue with Fedex. Last year, had allot of issues with UPS, and it was local distribution problems.
Amazon, UPS, Fedex and others utilize the "last mile" processing with USPS. Pallets are drop shipped to your local PO. Unless you have a very large local PO, there will be no sorting equipment. It is all hand sorted, mostly with barcode hand or ring scanners. Most of the Amazon drop ships, will arrive in early AM and USPS has to get it out in that days mail. Others arrive latter in the day, then sorted, and have to go out in next days mail. I don't mind the "last mile" approach. Items arrive at a much more consistent time of the day.
There has been collaboration between carriers for many years, even before "last mile". For obvious reasons, they don't advertise it. Fedex flys allot of USPS mail, and delivers fuselage shaped containers to specific USPS distribution sites. Very similar containers to what UPS Worldport uses.

A couple of times I got it the day before during non-Holiday or slow periods, but usually it's a day or 2 late and FedEx revises the delivery date or gets it wrong.
Now because of the busy holiday season where both carriers are handling probably 50x more packages than normal, the delays are going to be worse and human error abundant. I am not surprised that P/A shipped 10 days ago and I have not received it, and that FedEx sent my package to the wrong USPS office in another county after FedEx had it here in my town in their distribution center 4 miles from my house for a whole day. I have been through this a few times before, and kind of expect it especially when I order from P/A or any vendor in Nov. & Dec. that uses FedEx Smart Post/delivery.
It is what it is and we just have to wait longer to play with our new toys. Some of us can handle it, and a few wait by the door biting their finger nails. I make it a habit not to trim my finger nails before the holidays ;D

I do not have any issue with companies doing what is required to save them dollars and in turn us as well. My issue is no willingness to be accountable for the issues that do arise from said practices. It seems at least for my few problems with shippers that regardless of which you call first its always shifted to the other carrier involved to fix the problem and so the merry go round begins.
I agree its a monster we have created ourselves with the desire to save our dollars as well in todays ever increasing costlier world.
Its one of my pet peeves that my word is my bond and I expect the same from others, sadly that is wishful thinking is this day and age. I guess I will just continue to watch as society and its values erode further into obsolescence.

Sooooooo....
Whats everyones plans for thier* new Prods?
Skeeter, mine came shooting exactly how I wanted it out of the box ACCURATELY! So....I already had a single shot loader for it, purchased a RAI adapter with UTG stock for it and waiting...waiting patiently for it as it was supposed to be delivered Saturday but...sigh..also ordered a Rocker1 extended shroud with baffles. It is shooting JSB RS 13.34gr @ 675fps perfect for the rattus I’m patiently waiting for to return to accept my well intentioned JSB sleeping pills I want to administer to them! 😉👍

I am leaving mine, as described in a post in this thread a few back. At least for a little while. It might become a 2501P in the future.
I have plenty of the plastic foregrips. Just pay for shipping.
-
I also ordered a Rocker1 extended shroud, and he says the OD is the same as the PROD shroud.
-
Mike,
Yeah, the OD of the Rocker1 Prod shroud is the same OD as the stock shroud.

Nice. If the OD of the shroud extention is the same as the shroud, i definetly want one. A single shot tray is necessary for this gun, otherwise you blow through too much ammo ;) i have a SS valve ordered and should be here in a few months LOL. I need to buy a spare forearm to chop up, i dont wanna mess with the woods walker camo on this one.
Skeeter, Rocker1 shroud is same OD as OEM shroud.

Sounds like its missing a TP seal and blowing air back under the tube into the hammer area. I better make some gen 2 Prod valves.....
Sounds like the supply may be coming soon. ;)

To shoot a lot of yellow beaks and have fun with it. Got my first kill with the Prod today.
Other than an LDC I ordered that will probably be it for a while. Wife is on my back for ordering a lot of stuff including a BugBuster 3-9x32 I already got for the Prod, so I am not doing any modding for now or spending more $$. The Prod is for Starling duty so I am not planning for power mods. Maybe a better stock down the road...
Harry

So it just dawned on me...
Rocker1 is making shroud extentions, theoretically you could take a few and add/remove length when/if needed. Id hope...
No I believe he is making extended shrouds as in one piece only longer than the stock one, but then again he may make just extensions to the original one as well. The ones that Jim Gaska of wicked air rifle/marmot militia made were just extensions but he has closed shop so those are no longer available.
Its best to PM rocker 1 to discuss what you desire him to make and he will let you know if its possible or not. Great member to deal with 100%.
BD

I ordered a shroud extension from him. I see he is also selling full length shrouds, so he has both.

I was pawing through my shelves and found these SS kits I put together a year or so ago. I was waiting on a guy from Poland who was going to make a matching SS safety, which never happened. Some easy bling for your new Prods. :)

I know they are the same for the 22xx and 13xx though but not too sure about the 17xx because it has a somewhat different trigger design ;D.

Im to assume it being wrapped in carbon fiber, its probably already a tight fit in the barrel band. The camo on the woods walker gear is hydro dipped, not sure if that will even adhear to the carbon fiber, let alone its costly.
I did not know the camo was a hydro dipped coating on the woods walker. I believe there is plenty of room in barrel band for carbon fiber wrap but if not then it can be removed and the shroud painted. I prefer the matte black anyway so not a big deal to me either way.
Did not consider cost either.

Rick,
Thx for the generous offer. I do have SS and brass safeties for my personnel guns. Even made my own, back a few years ago:

I was trying to source SS ones that could be part of the kits. He was suppose to be $9/piece in lots of 10. Kept getting response that he was still procuring equipment to work on SS. Anyway, just trying to reduce the stuff on my shelves.

I didn't see your post about making one at home until now, but I made a couple back about the same time and I did it the same way as you. I made a few other parts as well. I made some quick release pins for the 1399 stocks and end caps bolt handles and a brass barrel band. Here is a grip with an end cap, stock release pin, bolt handle and safety pin that I made and a pic of the barrel band before smoothing the edges and polishing it. Sorry about the pic quality from my cell phone back then.

Hah! Two conflicting statements from two different people. See? I'm not the only one who is confused! I guess I'm not so stupid after all for being confused. :D
OK, David confirmed here that the first statement (large open end of baffle faces the muzzle is the correct orientation. Thanks! :D
-
They are both the same to me. ::)
I think you have to be careful with muzzle of barrel vs muzzle of shroud. :)
-
They are both the same to me.
Huh? How is:
"large open end of baffle faces the muzzle"
and
"large open end of baffle faces the breech"
the same????
-
The barrel muzzle is down inside the shroud. That is where the first baffle rests against. It is the same direction as the breech. ;)
-

If communication is to be effective it is a must for the definition of terms and understanding of facts to be the same between the parties involved in the attempt. ;D
Heretofore what was thought or referred to as the muzzle shall only refer to the end of the barrel where the projectile exits the gun, and henceforth the the end of the shroud shall mean the end that the projectile exits the gun when a shroud is present. 8)

LOL, I wonder how many people have the baffles put in backwards. :D
Wow, now I'm still confused if I have the baffles put in backwards or not. I thought I understood. :(
I don't think it makes much difference in the sound...
-
You still don't understand Mike? Look at reply #277 by Buldawg76 which Rocker agreed to. Perhaps you missed it.
He means the large open end of baffle face the muzzle of the barrel and end with small hole face toward front end of shroud where the cap threads in to shroud.
I don't have the shroud but it is pretty clear to me and I can picture it, because someone mentioned that the 1st baffle goes in front of the barrel's muzzle. This means the baffles' LARGE opening facing the back of the gun (breech side). The small faces forward - to the end of shroud.
Harry
-
Thank you Harry! That finally clears it up. I now have them backwards and it's very quiet. I'll have to compare when I turn them all around. I'll bet I won't be able to tell the difference.
These baffles are baffling. I'm baffled by these baffles. :D
Edit: Just switched them. Yep; can't tell any difference in the sound.
-

Mike, don’t worry...I had mine every which way and it made it quiet (testament to David’s incredible design), turned them “properly” large hole facing breech and it is even more muffled. Very fun mini carbines!
-
Try this, the big hole go towards where you load the pellet and the small holes got towards where the pellet exits the shroud. ??? ??? ::) ;) ;D 8)
BD
-
Try this, the big hole go towards where you load the pellet and the small holes got towards where the pellet exits the shroud.
That's a good description too. Got it. :D
I thought saying "muzzle" was unambiguous, but I was wrong. :D
-
Baffles are "triangles". They point away from the barrel.
They should point the same direction as an air stripper. Smaller end towards the crown of the barrel, bigger side towards muzzle of LDC/shroud.
-
I'm following just to see how long this convo is gonna go on ;D ;D ;D
-
They should point the same direction as an air stripper. Smaller end towards the crown of the barrel, bigger side towards muzzle of LDC/shroud.
That's good to know. If I had known that, I wouldn't have needed to create this whole mess. :D
However, I looked at the internal design of many PB suppressors, and I could not determine this from that. Many show the small diameter end towards the crown of the muzzle, opening up to a bigger expansion chamber in the direction of bullet travel. That's why I thought the baffles went the other way, although intuitively that seemed wrong when looking at the design of Rocker1's baffles.
-
Since I have not received my shroud and baffles yet ( due here today ) I was going by the pic in Rocker1s classified add in which the baffles appear to have a flat end design versus a triangle/cone end design. If in fact they are a triangle/cone design such as the Mrod style baffles then I would agree they should go as UCchris states with small end towards the barrel but "only if there is a spring between the support on the end of the barrel with the o ring that supports the shroud and the baffle" if no spring like the Mrod uses then they should go as I stated earlier. Big end toward barrel and small end towards shroud end.
You do not want the small end of a triangle/cone shaped baffle against the shroud support at the end if the barrel unless there is a spring between the support and baffle IMO.
When I get mine later today I can give "my" direction of preferred installation. I may even add a light spring in between the shroud support and baffle if they are indeed of the mrod design and there is room to do so.
Just my humble,2 cents worth.

I suspect they are the same style as I used in my Liberty. More of a directional vented hair curler style.

Ah, I didn't think of the Mrod style baffling. In that case, it would be flipped as has been pointed out.. Big hole towards the crown and small hole towards LDC/shroud muzzle.

While I am waiting for my 21 X 19 mm CF tubing to arrive, I bought some cheap 3/4" diameter stiff plastic bottle caps.
You might be baffled by their resemblance to other items described above. :)

You could stand off the baffle nearest the barrel with an appropriate length of open tubing... Then use one or more O-rings to create a rattle free preload; as is done in the stock P-Rod Shroud. If the section of tubing (above) is stiff rubber, it can fulfill both duties.

You could stand off the baffle nearest the barrel with an appropriate length of open tubing... Then use one or more O-rings to create a rattle free preload; as is done in the stock P-Rod Shroud. If the section of tubing (above) is stiff rubber, it can fulfill both duties.
Yep that would work as well, just needs to keep the baffles from moving inside the shroud. I always preload my baffles in some way be it a spring or o ring/rubber sleeve so they are snug in the shroud.

Yep, Rocker1's baffles are shaped like a cup. Here is a picture of one. He also includes a spring if needed, but I didn't need it.

Yes...small hole towards breech and large towards the crown of barrel. Mine came with the spring and mine needed it...place spring on or toward the air stripper, then baffles forward toward crown...correct installation as it is eerily quiet this way...wife says it now sounds like a toy, you just hear a puff, no ping any more.

:o
You illustrate my point perfectly!
"If communication is to be effective it is a must for the definition of terms and understanding of facts to be the same between the parties involved in the attempt."
What you describe is impossible to do, the end of the barrel and the breech are both the same direction from the end of the shroud because the shroud extends past the barrel's crown. I feel like descriptions like yours cause confusion or at least express it.
Maybe try this small hole towards breech and large hole away from the breech or small hole towards breech and large hole towards the end of the shroud."The the end of the shroud shall mean the end that the projectile exits the gun when a shroud is present."
I think my PRod is one of my quieter airguns stock so I have not installed anything to make it quieter but I do know how it's made.
I only answer this to try to help clear up confusion that I see expressed here. I mean no offense and hope it is receive in the spirit it was posted.

Mr. Dan, rang Crosman yesterday re PROD breech.
Was about to order it but I forgot some of the parts that need to go with it--been so busy with the conclusion of this semester's classes ::).
Price is great and I have now made a complete list of other essentials like brake shoes akin to my CCS gun ;D.
I will build it and have a unique PROD of my own.
Also got the brand new take-off PROD parts from Mr. UUCHris--I got it for $30 shipped, a super cheap deal, and he packed it solidly it almost weighed a ton ;D.
-
Every airgun I have the breech is in the rear the big hole is toward the breech, this type baffle will probley work how ever you put it in there but big hole goes toward the breech. David

LOL, is a muzzle loading a front breech, That is a great instruction, clear and concise.
This seems like it should be SO simple, but people have mixed up or interchanged shroud end, muzzle, and crown.
Here are some good definitions, I think.
The breech is the part of a firearm at the rear of the barrel where projectiles are loaded.
The muzzle is the open end of a weapon where the projectile exits.
The crown refers to the entire front end of your barrel, it needs to be centered and smooth, best without irregularities.
With a shroud longer than the barrel the muzzle is extended out beyond the crown and is at the end of the shroud.
My Boone BB pistol hasn't got a breech, it's a muzzle loader. ;D

Your last statement sums it up perfectly whether a black powder, gunpowder or air gun, IE if you load from the rear it has a breech and is breech loaded, if you load from the muzzle it has no breech and is a muzzle loader.
My shroud has been caught up in the holiday shuffle and is still showing in transit even though the tracking number first showed delivery on Friday with my usps informed consent email yesterday showed it as arriving yesterday. Then shortly after the mail ran it showed in transit. Todays informed consent shows no package being delivered today. Glad David has it insured since I have a feeling it may not have made it to my post office undamaged. Hope I am wrong and it shows up soon.

The reason I used crown was because there is the muzzle of the barrel and the muzzle of the shroud/LDC.

Thank you OP for steering us to purchase the Prod at a great price, and everyone for a fun and informative thread!

It uses a bracket same as the 2250 one end attaches to the front trigger frame mount and the other provides the forearm mounting hole.

No it isn't. Anyone can pull the trigger and "shoot" a gun or PCP. Now filling it with compressed air, handling the Scuba tank, securing the hose to the gun (so it doesn't smack you in the head when you turn the valve on - happened to others here), using proper HPA equipment, not overfilling the gun's tank, making sure the LDC or end cap is secured to the gun/shroud so it doesn't fly off the PCP (happened to a few here), and shooting the gun safely is called properly "operating" (or handling) a PCP. Most firearm manuals have a section for "proper operation" of the firearm.
But you guys all qualify to handle a PCP if you can figure out Rocker's super-complex Prod shroud installation :P ;D

Gents, I have started to build the brand new take-off PROD parts I got fom UUChris for so cheap ;D..
I will not be using the gauge as I have plugged the hole and reversed the orientation (turned it so that it points upward the breech).
Like a regulator, it is not secured by a screw or anything (just the 2 O-rings to make it tight), so will it not budge?
I am aware that once filled with air, the pressure will somehow push it against the valve or spacer, again, like a regulator.
Am I correct to assume this is the case then?
The plumber's gauge plug is much cheaper than a Magnum Airpower threaded gauge bypass, you know ;D..
Thank you!

It will not move because it allows air to equalize on both sides of it, unlike a regulator that only allows a certain psi past it.

Thank you, sir ;D..
Got my complete parts list for Crosman (PROD parts and some) and will contact them again tomorrow.
The barrel band for the PROD is surprisingly well-made and not of Zamak material like on the 22xx guns ;D..
-
It will migrate closer to valve over time. Just make sure you install the spacer so it can’t move.
-
Ricky,
The Prod from the factory has an alum spacer tube between the gauge block & valve so the G-block doesn't move when pressurized. see #39 in the diagram of BP2220-EVP.
-
Thank you, gents, for your inputs ;D..
UUChris did give me that spacer you mentioned about amongst other crucial parts so I am golden ;D..
I stripped the finish of the tube as I plan to have it powdercoated tomorrow.
It is starting to look as I want it to ;D..
Mine will be without a shroud as I like the look of a plain barrel with an LDC attached to it.

Yep I just got done shooting it for awhile, The weather is so nice today. Its sunny with no wind at all and warming up real nice, supposed to be high 60s to low 70s today here. Sure does not feel like Christmas time right now and will be 68 to 70 tomorrow. ;D
I had to rezero with the new shroud but had expected that might happen but its still one hole accuracy if I do my part. Is a bit quieter than the old setup with screw on LDC. I did go against the suggested baffle orientation that had created so much confusion in this thread. My stack up is in this order starting at the barrel and moving toward the shroud exit. Long spacer, white baffle with small hole against spacer X 4, black diffuser with small hole toward shroud exit, 2 ninja regulator Belleville washer with concave side against the diffuser, shroud end cap. The Belleville washers are used to add just a touch of preload to the baffle stack to prevent any movement during shot pressure pulse. Seems to work very well for my 1720T

When I first got the shroud I had no clue which way the baffles were supposed to be oriented...but it was silent nonetheless! I now have it the way Rocker1 said. But, like he said it doesn’t really matter! Bet your way is just as quiet or more so 🤓. Shot mine today too, very accurate and fun! Going to be raining the next could of days so got my fill of shooting today...👍.

Looks great Randall!! You did your research and selected the right aftermarket parts to make the Prod look the way it should IMO. I 'll probably get mine to that level eventually but have to space out the mods over time or I 'll be in the dog house :) Right now I am breaking it in, shooting some pests (with great success) and having fun with it.

Randy, thank you very much! Been wanting one for some time now and the wife got it for me on Black Friday so getting all the aftermarket parts was a joy! It’s still stock tuned as it’s perfect for my needs. The scope I got from eBay. It is a Sniper 1-5x24 FFP with IR. It does not have parallax adjustability but doesn’t need it. It is light and very compact. From the seller you can make an offer, they were asking 120 I offered 110 and it IMMEDIATELY agreed...so I think you could offer 90-100 and see! Very nice glass well worth it’s cost. Came with flip covers and I luv the reticle with center dot which is the only thing illuminated red or green with different intensities. Also resettable re- zero.

Randall,
Thanks for the info on the scope, it looks like a great scope & it's lite-weight wouldn't make the Prod feel super scope heavy!
I saved it for future scope purchases..Thanks Randy

I have just ordered a stainless Don Cothran 16" no-gauge-hole tube for my BF PROD ;D
Also a 16" LW .22 threaded barrel with a larger than OEM O.D.
Mine is w/o a shroud.
My PROD is still unfired ::)
I will send out the breech for plating when I receive the aforesaid new additions.
My PROD will be in silver eventually as I have always wanted ;D
I plan to send it for a tune and have it regulated.

Richard,
That I'll be on sexy BF Prod and one heck of a shooter. Do you know if Don is making the Cothran Valve for the Prods?
I have no idea, sir!
I did talk to him this morning before I ordered and paid for the PROD tube.
He said to just choose the stainless 2260 PCP tube ($76 shipped), it being almost the same specs as the PROD's, and he will just make me one that will fit the PROD.
I specifically ordered a 16" (not a 16 and 5/8 like the 2260).
He was so busy a few weeks ago, as he had to repair/maintain 3 of his machines.
Currently, he is doing a custom breech and some motorcycle parts for some guys but he will be working on my PROD tube next week.
He seldom texts back but he answers his phone and likes to talk ;D
I kinda find it hard to understand his drawl most of the time, me not really very much attuned to the American way of speaking yet ;D
Give him a call, Screwwork sir!

I changed my PROD tube to that of a 1700/1701P:

It looks better and is more balanced now even as a pistol ;D
Thanks to Mr. MileHighAirgunner for the heads up re the compatibility of the 2 tubes ;D
The gauge hole is different though but the PROD/1720T breech is a direct attachment.
I did bypass the gauge ;D
Hmm, the 6" TKO looks too long, so I may replace it with a Hugget Mini Belita.
In case you are wondering, my barrel De-Resonator is this piece, lol:
https://www.exercise-equipment-parts.com/mini-sponge-grips.html (https://www.exercise-equipment-parts.com/mini-sponge-grips.html)
It hides the ugly flat section of the barrel where the shroud mount is positioned ;D

I will have the tube powder-coated in textured black because it is so easily scuffed/scratched :( ;D
It is the only unsavory part of the gun, lol!

My pcp pistols are all based on the 1701 tube. :)
Yes, outside of the gauge location, which is closer to the valve, the 1701 tube is just a shorter version of the 1720T/Prod tube. I think the gauge is in the same location as a disco/max/fortitude, which would allow for some boyd's stock option. I have considered a Baracuda or Evolution, but have yet to execute.

I was thinking... wow, how did this thread get to 18 pages long and all the Prods sold out in one day?!?!?

Yes, Mr. John!
I took a note of what you said previously re the DISCO and the 1700/1701P gauge location similarity.
Speaking of Boyd's, a Barracuda stock in Sky Blue laminate for the DISCO is in my cart right now, lol!
Can't fully decide on the color yet but I will buy one today, no excuses ;D
The Sky Blue laminate is about $15 to 17 more expensive than their Camo, Grey, and Nutmeg but they have an ongoing sale right now which negates the additional cost.
I wish they had free shipping too, lol!
Oh, I did order an aluminum DISCO trigger assembly from Magnum Air Power.
I should have it next week, I hope ;D

This thread is a year old, if you have not noticed ;D
I posted my new iteration here because I bought this pistol in parts from a gent who decided to upgrade his BF PROD into a bottle gun, so, essentially, mine is a BF PROD too ;D
Funny thing but Crosman does have ample inventory of the supposedly unavailable airguns.
I think Mr. Mbulk/Charlie also said the same thing about the SAMRODS; them reaching a number of about a hundred or so units but appearing as not in stock.
A lady told me last Monday they had 36 pieces of 1701P pistols but she had no idea where they are headed for.
I was on the phone with her to order some parts.
I could have ordered one but I told her I want it free shipping with a 25% discount like on a Friday, lol!
She apologized that she could not do that but she was surprised they had that kind of deal, lol!
Probably a new employee ;D

Ok, you all fooled me! I was just about to click on the link. Thank God, I didnt get into an argument with the wifey for more BB guns money before reading page 18 first! ;D

If any of you that are customizing have any parts you would part with ;D I have a p-rod that I would like to "un bottle" and could use a tube and a shroud as mine is stripped. If so kindly pm me so we can discuss it, thank you!

I'll be waiting for the pictures. :)

I will, Senor John ;D
I did order it, the Sky Blue laminate, along with a no-finger groove AR grip of the same color.
The grip will be for one of my BLUEFORK Crosman grips.
I will order a Forest Camo Green, too, if I like the fit and finish ;D
The Barracuda stock would fit my PROD but it is for another DC build ;D
My aluminum Magnum Air Power DISCO trigger assembly with a stainless trigger was shipped out today.
I will test-mount it on my PROD and see if it functions but I do not see any reason why it should not.
OT: I got a 2260 wooden stock from Crosman yesterday and the color is so dark, it is almost black.
I might paint with Duplicolor Sandstorm after sanding it, although the finish on mine is almost perfect with very minimal shallow dings (I saw only 3), which can be easily remedied with a bit of elbow grease.
I ordered this paint:
https://www.amazon.com/Dupli-Color-TR250-Truck-Coating-Aerosol/dp/B00R244PQC?th=1 (https://www.amazon.com/Dupli-Color-TR250-Truck-Coating-Aerosol/dp/B00R244PQC?th=1)
Moreover, I see the reason why people complain about the grip--it is so square and fat, it needs reshaping.
Ciao!

I did notice it ... but not until after I'd made my post. *Shrugs*
