Title: JSAR Raptor barrel
Post by: larspawn on July 06, 2019, 10:39:05 PM
Been contemplating FX or JSAR Raptor.

Question: if I opted for .25 cal slug barrel, will it absolutely not be able to shoot pellets well?  Or if I buy a choked barrel will shooting soft slugs damage it?

I’ll shoot mostly pellets by the way but would like to try slugs for long distance.

Also anybody know the mag and shot capacity for .25?

Thanks for any thoughts.

It will shoot pellets well but not as well as a choked barrel but should still be MOA at 50 yards which is the standard now. If your going to shoot slugs definitely go unchoked JMHO

And no, shooting slugs thru a choke will not damage the barrel.

You may shoot slugs thru a choke just fine. However for good accuracy, you will want to size the slugs to fit the choke, not the barrel itself.

I have three non choked barrels here, and they all shoot pellets at about an inch at 80 yards Sometimes a little over. When choked,
the groups were slightly smaller. Remember, even at that, with chokes, most pellet barrels aren't as accurate as these are. So chokes help with poorly made, or odd sized pellets in the same batch, but are not the end all in good quality pellets. A choke is basically a bandaid for less than stellar pellets. That's its purpose. That, and less than consistent barrel making skills and quality.  ;)

I have the slug liner in .25 and it loves the Mk1 and 2 heavies.  Shoots them as well as the pellet liner IMO.

I’ll doing a video on shot count there’s simply so many variables to just give one answer. I will post it in our vendor gate when done.

Not to put specs in Travis' mouth...but I think I read or saw on one of videos that the .30 had 9, the .25 had 10, and the .22 was 11...

I was wr ..  wr ..wr ..wrong. Found the other thread...

"have a capacity of 9-.30 11-.25 12-.22 15-.177 and all have a depth of .55 inches for heavy ammo!!"
