Title: Happy Birthday America with a 20% off Crosman custom shop guns
Post by: hoteltwofive on July 04, 2018, 06:38:44 AM
Finally a custom shop discount!  Takes the 20% off when you go to check out.  AGNATION code does not work for additional savings.  But a free shipping option was there, at the very bottom of the shipping options.

CCS sales are rare.    A good deal if wanting one of the available air guns.   I was hoping for a CCS Mrod with LW barrel.

Ordered 2400kt with the Lothar barrel - couldn’t resist that 20%.  Good job the marauder is excluded or I’d have picked one of those up too.

Thank you, Hotel25 sir!

Say, if I we order thru CCS can we order extra trigger shoes and an extra 14" Lothar barrel?

My 2400KT with  24" Crosman barrel in .177 was my most accurate Crosman. It actually beat my Lothar barreled one but then again it was only a 10 incher. The scope was a Bushy Elite 6-24x40 AO mildot, which I borrowed from one of my PCP's.

Gents, I was able to converse with a nice madame at Crosman regarding the probability of getting extra parts to go along with my CCS order. She said it is a GO but I can only do so after I get my CCS airgun, and they will allow me only 1 extra barrel and an extra trigger shoe. Well, that sounds good! I will get a another 14" Lothar barrel then and an extra shoe  post delivery of my toy;D

My 2400KT was shipped today. I think that is odd. Less than 10 days from the time of order (4th of July)? I thought it would be a minimum of 2 weeks, lol!

My Don Cothran parts for it have not been shipped yet but once I am done, there will be no external Crosman parts to be seen on my carbine. Perhaps the plastic side plate only, lol!

Am I the only 1 who got a notice? Lol! Crosman must be playing favorites, lol again!

Well, my first CCS order was a long time ago when I was still in the Philippines. I had AirgunExporter export the 2 CCS guns. On top of the airguns' price, I shelled out almost $400 to get them to my hands. Philippine Customs and the Philippine Post hassled me a lot, lol! Good thing I had the items named under my uncle who is a police general. They were almost confiscated  ::) Yes, you need to have connections there otherwise transactions go kaput, lol again!

I had a hard time choosing between a 1300kt and 2400kt but that morning finally decided to order the 1300kt and then kept thinking about it all day and that night also ordered a 2400kt.

I just got notice that my 2400kt shipped, so the 2400kt assembly line must be the faster one.

John, with those huge discounts, I would have made the same move too were it not for my existing 13xx  ;D

These carbines/pistols are so divine and enjoyable to shoot that when I tested out my 13xx carbine today, I almost slapped myself for delaying its inception--necessary mods that is, lol! More than 2 years have passed since I have pulled the trigger on an airgun! Now I am snubbing my custom 10/22s, lol!

Regarding the 13xx, Mr. Don Cothran told me he has been working on a stainless tube for it but was having a problem with the long slot where the pump arm goes up and down. From what he told me, it would incur a tear but once he figures it out, I am in for one, yessuh! That gent is a perfectionist who makes stellar parts  ;D

if you haven't ever shot one before, you're in for a treat.  had mine built a couple of months ago and i'm still amazed at the accuracy.  when time allows, i'm going to take the bugbuster from the contour and install it on the 2400 and see what it really can do.

Here she is less the front sight in preparation for a tko!

Quick question though. It's my first LW barrel, so maybe its just the way it is, but I really gotta push on the bolt to get it to close on a pellet. Are they just that much tighter than the Crosman barrels on the breech end?

That is normal. Frankly, I have never used Crosman pellets on any of my guns, just JSBs and AAs and an occasional HN. I like the Czech made pellets better though and they are softer.

I would polish the leade if I were you. Barrels from Crosman are known to have rough ones and I always give my barrels this 1st and foremost treatment aside from bore cleaning.

I was using CPHP's for the lead in, I'll grab the JSB's next time I shoot it. Got a scope which should be in my mailbox in the next few hours so that'll give me an excuse...

I did pull the barrel to clean it and the leade looked good already. I noticed the bolt O-ring was much tighter than my other AG's with Crosman barrels as well. I'm hoping I can get the bolt closed with the extended probe I have coming now...

My 2400kts with lw barrels (in .177 and .22) don't need much push to seat pellets with their bolts using CPHP. It could be the bolt o-ring on yours is a bit oversized.

I took a few more shots using 15 grain JSB's. They load a little easier but not too much.

I did try loading with the barrel pointing downwards and dropping the pellet in and it was much smoother/less force required. Maybe they're getting hung up on the transfer port?

Got mine today.

The carbon fiber simulated 2400KT carbine stock has chips around the screw holes of the grip, so the black base shows.

How about those who got this model, gents? Are yours not perfect too?

Gonna call Crosman tomorrow.

The .177 14.6" LW barrel has nice rifling  ;D Might put this in my 1377 and order another one.

Can't wait to mount the 3-9x32 bugbuster I picked up from AMZ Prime Day on it, should make a perfect light pest gun.

Like I have said, I am too meticulous for my own good, lol!

Had my previous (in Asia) CCS parts reblued by a pro:

Really miss the CCS guns I left behind, lol!

Slightly disappointed to find the medium rings I bought weren’t quite enough to get my scope to clear the barrel band on my 2400.  Just had to order some high rings to arrive Sunday.  And while I was in the mood, ordered a DonnyFL Tanto which has been despatched same day. I spoke with Crosman customer service to get the price for a long steel breech and was told that they were out of stock. This was a couple weeks before the 4th.

I do not like the finish of these guns. Once I am done with it, it will look marvelous.

Small details will make it stand out:

The grip frame was professionally powdercoated in satin black by one of the biggest powdercoating companies in Asia.

Not a slight trace of the infamous casting lines. In and out, it looks superb.

Plan is to make this into some sort of an semi AR form, hence the adapter for it:

Oh Rick, now you’ve started something 😊
Where did you get that beautiful cocking bolt you posted a pic of higher up the thread?
I’m a tiny bit obsessed with all things stainless.
Also, are there stainless bolt kits available?

I’ll wait till my Donny FL arrives in a couple of days before posting pic of the gun scoped up, but I already know it’ll pale in comparison to your beauty....for now 😆

Rob, I had that 1 made.

You can also purchase stainless parts from this gent:

https://mellonair.myfreesites.net/177-22-bolts (https://mellonair.myfreesites.net/177-22-bolts)

..or from Mr. Don Cothran. His are cnc made:

http://www.cothranmachine.com/ItemDisplay.php (http://www.cothranmachine.com/ItemDisplay.php)

As for the AR stock adapter, it is this one:

http://www.jsairrifles.com/P-Rod-AR-Stock-Adapter_p_24.html (http://www.jsairrifles.com/P-Rod-AR-Stock-Adapter_p_24.html)

It has a very nice satin finish.

It is originally for the 17xx guns but Mr. Matt aka Senor SilentMatt drilled and tapped 8-32 screw holes on top and at the bottom of it. Being me, I implored him to be extra careful when doing so as it might mar the finish. He did and it turned out perfect, so thank you, Mr. Matt!

Also, this adapter does not have a backwall for the hammer spring to sit on (it is through and through) but it has a threading inside (3/8-24 thread pitch), hence I modified this (see ebay link) set screw for it to have a hammer guide:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/3-8-24-x-1-4-Grub-Screws-Allen-Socket-Set-Screw-Stainless-Steel-Qty-10/232477197808?_trksid=p2485497.m4902.l9144 (https://www.ebay.com/itm/3-8-24-x-1-4-Grub-Screws-Allen-Socket-Set-Screw-Stainless-Steel-Qty-10/232477197808?_trksid=p2485497.m4902.l9144)

You can buy a set screw like this for $0.55 at Ace but it is just black oxide but anyway it is not even visible.

One thing nice about the JSA adapter is that you will have a built in power adjuster with the modified set screw. I installed a stainless pin on mine as spring guid.

As you can see, there is a threaded (6-32) vent hole (adapter has it from the "factory") on its top section:

Once you have made some adjustments with the hammer-spring-guide-set-screw whatchamacallit, you can "lock" it using the top screw.

In case you don't it know, gents, the 22xx and the 17xx share the same tube dimensions:

what's up with all the 1300kts?  I haven't heard a peep from Crosman since ordered it on the 4th.  So far all the ones I saw here are 2400kts.

My 2400kt arrived today.  Double boxed, no visible damage that I can see. My first foray into CO2 power and can’t wait to test it out.
How long till I start tinkering, I wonder? 😊

Well, I know it’s far from the ‘finished article’, but here’s my 2400kt.  I’m not overly keen on the finish of the gun either tbh, but plenty of time to enjoy it before I think about modding.
DonnyFL really takes the noise level down.  Happy with that.
Will zero scope this weekend and get some practice in at 20 yards.

Finally got my 2400 home. UPS gave me the runaround on delivery for a week. The breech had a scratch in the paint, not the end of the world. I made the mistake of ordering the pistol scope for the optic. Will be fine for another gun but not this one. No way to put it far enough forward on a carbine.lol
Anyway put a Williams peep that I already had on it and took some shots. Shoots fine in 177 with a 24" barrel. Plenty quite. Decided to try the peep off of my Daisy 853. Nice fit with good eye relief but could not adjust low enough on the target. Bottomed out was still an inch high. Could probably build up the front sight, we'll see. Took off the peep and tried old faithful, Tasco 4x32 ($8 @ walmart). It was 1/2" high and 3 /4" to the right when mounted. I like the black on black look and if the light is strong it's right on target.
I will run it over the chronograph hopefully over the weekend.

If you have the Crosman Muzzle break you can get a brass 6-32 bolt and nut to replace the sight pin.  I just cut the head off and flattened with a file.  Works great  ;D

I will, Rob sir!

My stainless parts from The Cothran Machine arrived today! They look splendid! They are in my car though because I will be travelling in a while.

I have no idea how Mr. Don makes them but it appears he utilizes "alien" technology, lol!

The power adjuster, the 2260 tube with that special C02 cap, breech, rear sight holder, etc. are masterpieces! You need to see them in person to see how amazing they really are!

Having a hard time which BlueFork trigger I am going to buy, lol!

Thank you, Hunter sir!

Don Cothran parts for my 2400KT:

Will not use the power adjuster anymore but it is good having one. The safety too because it will sport a Blue Fork trigger assembly!

This is my specified extra length 2260 tube C02 cap with no slot. Looks very clean! Also, I did not pay extra!

I love this gent's parts, they are 1st class all the way!

I will be putting a cerakoted Tungsten Grey AR tube on it:

https://www.ghostrifles.com/collections/accessories/products/rifle-buffer-tube?variant=43032455299 (https://www.ghostrifles.com/collections/accessories/products/rifle-buffer-tube?variant=43032455299)

And a red alum AR stock to match my red scope rings:

or this one:

and this rail to replace the forearm that is why I have 2 DC barrel bands with specified 8-32 screw holes at the bottom:

Will be reversing the rail like the one on my 1377:

I am extremely picky when it comes to color coordination. I don't put scopes/optics with gold inscriptions on a silver gun. If it has gold, it has to go to a brass-inspired gun.

Probably this grip to go with the BF trigger:

I was already planning to build a DC C02 and then the sale came, so I bought one for its parts (valve, barrel, springs, etc.)

got mine too.  After looking over the gun, I am surprised to see the trigger is not the same as the one in 2400kt.  It doesn't have the adjustment screw and it's super heavy.  I had to cut off 2 coils for the pull weight to be acceptable.  Also the long steel breach has the set screw right in the front of the loading port instead of under the charge bolt. I find it interfere with loading of certain types of pellets (H&N sniper for example). the gun is super accurate with the 14'' LW barrel. I was popping acorn at 15 yards with only 4 pumps consistently.

The manual says 3 to 10 pumps, however I have read ppl doing 10+?  What's the best practice here?  So far I am happy with this little carbine.

Yu, that LW barrel of yours is so much more accurate for those big acorns.

Even my 10" OEM Crosman barrel (cleaned it with Hoppes then polished the bore with Mother's then applied Ballistol. I also debureed/polished the leade as well as the transfet port) can do this:

3 pumps, 4, shots, 15 yards, JSB 4.52 8 grain pellets, Vortex Sparc 2 moa red dot..

Same target but this time I installed my Donny FL Tanto..I peppered it with 3 more shots..POI is about the same:

7 shots all in all suppressed and unsuppressed.

We have the same 14" Lothar but I have not shot mine yet.

Almost done:

I am glad I did not buy the PHASE 5 fixed AR stock yet. Good thing I got the Tungsten cerakoted buffer tube first from Ghost 1st:

https://www.ghostrifles.com/collections/accessories/products/rifle-buffer-tube?variant=43032455299 (https://www.ghostrifles.com/collections/accessories/products/rifle-buffer-tube?variant=43032455299)

The cerakote is flawless

This one needs an adjustable one because of the short LOP so I should get a Tactical Dynamics version.

I call this one The M400KT, lol! No longer looks like a CCS gun.

Does anyone know what color, without the bluing, the LW barrel from Crosman is?  The reason I am asking is I noticed my 1300kt's barrel showing a lot of brown patches/streaks.  The color is sorta like bronze.  At the first glance I thought it was surface rust but after rubbing it with several cleaner the bronze area still remains.  Now I am guessing the LW barrel might be of the bronze color.  It's just a shoddy bluing job Crosman did on the barrel.  Can anyone chime in?

Thanks!

I have 2 Crosman Lothar barrels; a 10" and a 14" and mine do not exhibit those aforesaid bronze streaks. Could be just an anomaly in the bluing process.

I plan to polish mine to sort of match my matte stainless parts. When I polished my 1377 barrel, I just rubbed it (with a cotton cloth dabbed with Mother's) like I would polish a shoe.

Came out nice and it is subdued and mottled with gray-like impressions like a sea creature is. Did not want want to sand it as it would debrade some material.

If you look at the tube of my 1377, that one is a brushed finish. Looks very nice in person.

To achieve the brushed look after removing all the blue including those that were on the etched parts, I used a 400 grit sandpaper wrapped in my palm. Do one section at a time and rotate the tube one way like you would a BBQ--counter or clockwise does not matter for as long as it is one way. The brushed finish hides imperfections, if there are.

I also polished the linkage, in and out, because I hate seeing silver "scars" on a blued part.

Takes a long time to polish parts but it makes me happy when I do each crevice and every nook and cranny. I always check it with a flashlight to see if there are remaining "plaques"..

Imperfections bother me to no end ::)

What surprises me is they didn't even ask for the old one back!  Talking about after-sale customer service, no one can beat Crosman.  Now I have one spare LW 14'' .177 barrel which can still shoot the lights out despite the rust issue...What should I do with it? ;D

love my 2400kt, however, it wouldn't cost that much more for crosman to produce a .177 specific breech for it.

if i'm not careful, the pellet will turn sideways as it's loading.  i tried pointing the muzzle down, but then the bolt slides forward.

not too big a deal outside because i can see the pellet and make sure it's sitting proper before sending it into the barrel, but when i'm shooting inside the dark barns and can't see much, i have to be extra careful not to have the pellet turn sideways.

A Don Cothran 2250/2400KT tube w/ an extended no screw driver slot C02 cap/plug (just like the one on my 2260) is on its way to me.

I will just stick with the CCS 2400KT platform.

The Don Cothran 2260 tube will be put in another build, probably on a Boyd stock.

Btw, the Blue Fork (handpicked by Mr. Joe of HPA Sports himself) was delivered to me sometime ago.

It is satin anodized and not the matte finish that they have on their site.

It is an amazing piece w/ much attention to detail. I will have it Cerakoted though in Tungsten to uphold my red, grey, silver, and black combo.

The satin black Cerakote AR grip is this one, although this one is in Titanium Cerakote:

It is a Venom MJolnir (Thor's hammer):

Thanks, R141 sir.

I am in Abq. right now to check on our purchased house, so I brought my Blue Fork and Tactical Innovations 10/22 anodized trigger housings for Cerakoting in Tungsten. Love its metallic color. The Cobalt Cerakote is darker and equally as nice.

There is an applicator here known as Score Hi, which does Cerakoting very well.

Instead of having the BF trigger Cerakoted, I just had it beadblasted to match the DC parts.

I replaced the Crosman sear with a MAP Super Sear. It is a very nice fit in the BF.

Had no idea BF triggers were adjustable. No creep nor slack!

Mr. Wyo sir, I am your number 1 fan when it comes to Crosmans and other pistols. Bar none, your 22xx and 13xx cache are the best!

Thank you, btw!

My M400KT...

Same JSB 4.52, 8g pellets at 15 yards.

I did 4 shots, and remember this is just a red dot, although a 2 moa.

Pardon the built-in wind flag, Lol! Well, I could not see it actually from 15 yards, lol again!

My neighbor was looking and right and left because he could hear an audible "TICK" when the pellets were hitting the dry tree  ;D

The crow too was cawing loudly everytime he heard the same sound  ;D

Mr. R141, the only part I used from the CCS gun is the valve.

This 1 has a very nice trigger pull (and very light!) with no slack and creep because I replaced the OEM Crosman sear on the Blue Fork trigger assy. with a Magnum Super Sear.

The BF trigger blade also comes with set screw, and the sear spring is really light--about as light as those in pens, really!

Btw, I have some extra ss MAP  torx screw for the std Crosman breech, sir! It does not fit my DC breeches but Mr. Cothran has his own breech and valve screws, which are very precise for his breeches, so if you want one just PM me ;D

This breech screw uses a #6 wrench, iiric!

Will dispatch it on Monday if your are interested.

Ciao!
