If you're like me, the new catalog from Pyramid air is creased and dog eared like a Sears wishbook from years past. What is striking is that the design of guns is no longer restricted to the traditional look of a rifle. I'm a traditionalist who likes the look of wood but my tastes are by no means a limited to the R9. Bullpups and carbines, extreme drop combs, pcp's with air bottles sticking out of them, then there's the adjustable 10M guns. I don't question how they shoot I'm judging on pure looks. What's the ugliest airgun made?
My vote goes to the Evanix Rainstorm 3D Bullpup. It looks like a milk crate. If you own one and are put off by my comment then by all means please bring it to the shoot in Sparta KY next spring, I'd love to try it
I'd love to hear about what else offends your artistic eye.

In my mind it’s the Evanix Rex, thing looks like a walking stick that with a bunch of picatinny mounts glued to it.

I like the Evanix 3D since I'm into tactical, but I find the Hatsan Bullmaster completely hideous

The umarex APX NXG is one of the ugliest I've ever seen, so is the bear river pumper.

Oh no... I Think the designer is stuck in the 80´s and couldn´t make the desicion if he like top gun or Miami vice the most...

Agree that the Rainstorm 3D is very ugly.
but, ho boy if you hunt in a place where you bang into boulders and trees all day long that solid chassis is just the ticket it protects the rifle from just about anything, Hunted with those rifles for years and they where as solid as it gets in rough hunting situations.

As I agree that the 3D is extremely ugly, I gotta say there's a few out there that might beat it :) :) ...that Hatsan pictured above sure gives it a good run for the money :):)

Lol. That wildlife NEEDS orange and blue striping, perhaps some glued on tinfoil on that boxy thing in front of the trigger to complete that seventies b-movie space gun laser-tag look. How else are supposed to know it has inverse-phase reactor packs?
Those Hawaii looking trees behind the dude with the evanix are really cool though!

Surprisingly I don't really find this gun all that ugly.
Not sure why, but it reminds me of the plain Jane blockyness of a Glock.

It's like the rifle version of those survival knives with the compass on the end of the hilt! Does the stock come with matches and fishing string? Good thing it has that protractor, you know, for measuring angles in the woods. What is the red button for? There's GOT to be a death ray in there somewhere!

Oh guys !... I laughed so much my day's gonna be a good day !! I'm a bit traditionalist and conservative and my ideal rifle would be all wood and steel.
I hope I won't get ennemies out here but the ugliest rifle for me is the AirForce Talon PCP, how efficient it may be. Anyway, I found its handgun version. Not worse.

Surprisingly I don't really find this gun all that ugly.
Not sure why, but it reminds me of the plain Jane blockyness of a Glock.
I agree with you on the Wildlife not being that ugly of a gun, David.
Glocks, on the other hand, I think are the ugliest modern handguns in production!

The wildfire is certainly ugly especially the variant with the compass and particle beam fire button . The Glock on the other hand is utilitarian (ugly) and extremely accurate. For me accuracy trumps ugly every time ;D

I don't need pin point accuracy in a PB pistol. Just needs to hit human torso sized targets inside 20ft via instinctive shooting. I've yet to shoot a pistol that is not capable of this......even those Hi-Point brand cheapos.

Glock is a great example of warming up to the looks with time,
I've always been and still are in the camp that the 1911 is the best looking handgun, but since I had my Glock 19 I think Glocks are beautiful :) :) I now really like that blocky look and plan in the future to ad a .45 to the collection :)

The wildlife is terrible but i think the crosman A I R 17 is even worse. Like they took the wildlife and cut it up and couldn’t figure out to line the pieces back up. The hatsan semi autos are a close second.

You do know it's supposed to look like an M-16 right ?
It's not as realistic looking as the m417 I had, but still was still supposed to look like an M-16.
Not the best looking air rifle for sure though.

I think there are so many ugly ones, I don't know which one is the ugliest. I don't care for the " assault rifle," look. I know it is popular in high powered rifles, too, but I like traditional, wood stock rifles.

I feel pretty much the same, Steve. I can appreciate a good looking would stock, I even like the European bull pup designs, but the whole “tacti-cool” thing is such a turn off.

I've just seen one of these rifles in the bargain gate :o. May be I'm not sensible to its beauty, but it's a serious stuff!

Most any gun that does not resemble a regular looking rifle is ugly to me. Bull pup, Texan, etc...
Just my opinion. But I am not a fan of the SKS, AR15, AK 47, etc........
FX streamline and Daystate Regal are awesome looking guns.

I'm just the opposite. I really like the tactical/military designs, and while I don't dislike them, I find the traditional wooden hunting type rifles very boring.....except for many of the fancy HFT guns.

I’ve always like the more traditional wood stock look.I never liked the looks pcp airguns until the Benjamin discovery came out and it had a traditional look to it and I like it had open sights.There are some ugly guns out there.

Yep I’m not a fan of something trying to look like something it’s not (AR’s).... Reminds me of kit cars. I don’t mind functional designs as long as it’s not for looks. I like wood or synthetics with nice curves, not a fan of right angles at all.

Yes the AMC Gremlin was a cute car . The Pacer was like driving down the road in a fishbowl. I had a cousin that owned a Pacer that car was definitely UGLY. I owned a '73 AMC Hornet with 360 and 4bbl Holly double pumper carb back then AMC formerly Nash/Rambler sold some interesting cars.

I knew a guy that put a Gremlin on a Jeep chassie with a 340 in it. He painted it up like a hi top sneaker with shoe laces up the hood. It was cute with an attitude.

All the ugly air guns posted are much uglier than this one, but I can't look at this one without shuddering, even though the wood is walnut.

I should apologize! Sometimes I wonder whether I'm able to consider anything else than a Purdey or an old Springfield as a rifle, or not...So just imagine how I can appreciate an Airforce Condor ! Compared to it, the Xisico Sentry has a real charm of his own. The forearm just looks a little.. err.. mechanical, but the whole rifle still looks like a rifle. I'm just an innocuous sectarian. :-X

I have seen the Sentry with the plastic fore-arm / shroud piece removed exposing the wood and floating barrel.
Looks like a completely different rifle!

I may have avoided the ridicule of my family because they may not recognize an ugly gun if they saw one, but my fellow GTA members would know and there is no way to escape their scorn. I would just have to live with the shame.
TBH, I can`t wait to get mine either. I like the forearm piece; it makes it look kick @55 to me.

Here now, the GAMO 68 is a fine piece of engineering.
I have yet to find a better rig for shooting mud fences, crapper doors from tuna boats, or 3 legged cur dogs.

I find the FX Bobcat an ugly amorphous blob of synthetic with an airgun stuck inside.
And- I know I'll hear flack for this- I think the Brocock Compatto is hideous. Even a "naked" QB-79 sans bottle is better looking.

In my younger days I raced homing pigeons. I was told they had to look just so. Well I had by their standard some ugly birds but when they beat the others home from 2-- 4 hundred miles, won the race, they were beautiful in my eyes. The faster they came home the prettier they got...Smile.. Sorta like an ugly rifle that hits the zero bull every shot. That would make them look good to me even if they were painted yellow. another smile about here.. :D

My Frankengun is my only PCP. It is largely homebuilt and shoots hard with great efficiency (1.74 fpe/ci at 30fpe with 16.2 gr jsb beasts!) and weighs in at just over 4.5 pounds. It fits all the criteria I wanted in my first (probably only) PCP. Of course, once the art/sykes valve is in there with the longer maximus barrel (and I have done some porting), I am loftily hoping to surpass that 2fpe/ci mark and hit 100 shots per fill with a 1% ES before dropping off the regulator.
Honestly, I kind of roll my eyes when people are all about polished stocks and pretty bling. I want to shoot my gun, not display it. I don't want to stress out when someone is holding it or leans it against something that will scratch it.

Anyway, the Frankengun/ugliest rifle for me are those modular, cobbled together out of a military parts bin someplace, Star Trek-meets-Mad Max-air rifles. Just about the ugliest things I ever saw. I don't know whether to shoot it, or try to hit ludicrous speed and go plaid???

Have you chrony it? Had to rebuild mine as the seals had dried up. Accuracy for mine is 12 yards max have a 15 yard range in my basement. Any further and five shots five holes😳 looked like a shotgun blast🧐Tried a slew of different pellets and the hatSan vortex supreme in 8.64 gr won not one hole but pellets touching 😎

My AIR 17 is used to shoot BB's. I find it's more accurate with BB's than pellets. Not very accurate with either but it makes a fun can plinker at 50 feet shooting Daisy zinc BB's. I've had several. As I recall, I chronyed one in the high 300's fps. 385 fps or something like it.

When I get back from the Philippines I’m ordering a rifled barrel from the m4 177 replacing the smooth bore air17 barrel. Hoping for better accuracy and to at least hit targets in my 15 yard range in my basement. The way it is 12 yards max with pellets beyond that it’s a shotgun blast😳

Long story short he was given a fair price for one in overall great condition minus it's missing bb port cover which I happen to have for him off of my old 66.
It has no pellet clip but those are readily available for the 760, plus I can just make a loading block out of a little scrap of wood like I did my 760.

I had a bulldog for a short time . It was not as bad looking in person, still not pretty though . The stock is cheap flimsy plastic and it leaked brand new out of the box . Leak kept getting worse never got a chance to shoot it before I got fed up and sent it back . Personally I think the newer hatsan pcps look way worse but I still dislike the bulldog, mostly because of the lack of build quality .

I like a LOT of the Hatsan designs, they have a certain vibe that tickles my fancy. I really love a lot of the Kral Arms stuff, too, those Turks have a way with industrial 'looks' that is somehow appealing...
Not a fan of the Kral Arms "Armour" guns, though, nor the ones that look like Air Force guns, which, as it goes, I also dislike for a variety of reasons including 'looks'..

These are a couple of the newer hatsans I was referring too . I like industrial looks as well, although i have no issue with aiforce guns . If the hatsans did not all have auto safteys I'd have a pump action at44 . I'm left handed and it would work out well . For me there is no point is a repeater with a saftey that turns on after every shot . Its annoying in single shots but i can deal with it .

So true, dominator has one of the ugliest stocks I can think of. Somehow everything looks a bit out of proportions, not sure if changing that stock could fix the appearance, barrel is skinny and the gap between air tank and barrel is too big for my tastes.

Totally agree with you, Albert. It's essentially that monster gap between barrel and tank. It seems like it was an after thought. Or maybe they figured it would be a great design to hold small games you've shoot.
That stock looks completely out of proportioned. They must have designed this gun after a night of Oktoberfest

Dang! Those are some ugly guns. That .50 thing looks like it`s trying to be an over and under and in the middle too shotgun. The QB89 is grotesque. The Wildlife looks like something from a 1960s TV spy show like The Man from U.N.C.L.E. or I Spy, terrible.

If you're like me, the new catalog from Pyramid air is creased and dog eared like a Sears wishbook from years past. What is striking is that the design of guns is no longer restricted to the traditional look of a rifle. I'm a traditionalist who likes the look of wood but my tastes are by no means a limited to the R9. Bullpups and carbines, extreme drop combs, pcp's with air bottles sticking out of them, then there's the adjustable 10M guns. I don't question how they shoot I'm judging on pure looks. What's the ugliest airgun made?
My vote goes to the Evanix Rainstorm 3D Bullpup. It looks like a milk crate. If you own one and are put off by my comment then by all means please bring it to the shoot in Sparta KY next spring, I'd love to try it

That is the PCP version of the Hammerli 850 I believe, same gun with the valve spaced down for the 88g CO2 tank but with a small diameter air cylinder in it's place, or it's an adapted air reservoir on an 850... they're goofy looking guns but pretty cool, I have one, haven't shot it all that much but it's nice to have a mag and a big propellant reservoir...

I dunno guys. There are the Flash Gordon laser guns and some stupid looking guns on this thread for sure, not to mention my own frankengun, but that ballsack thing has got me wide eyed and scared. They need to step back and look hard at their springers to take some hints at what makes a rifle nice.
My 95QE is lovely... but then I look at the Proxima and the Sortie and all I can do is shake my head.
Some airguns, like the Gauntlet, have to follow a certain shape (extra-long barrel to get promised speeds), but let's face it a lot of PCPs look like their designers didn't even try to make something appealing. Yeah, BullMaster, I'm talking about you. The Daystate Pulsar and FX Wildcat are two other stupid-looking airguns. Swoopy curvy blobs of synthetic or Walnut cannot diminish the turdliness of those.

;) ;D Not to be a nay sayer but in reality beauty is in the eye of the beholder proof in point when yo walk down the street and see an attractive man or woman that is in a totally committed relationship with a bridge troll, and all you can think is sheesh what the heck does he/she see in that person. That applies to cars, boats and guns as well

I have an FX Wildcat and I think it's a very nice looking rifle. So neener neener neener.
I think he must have made a mistake mentioning the Wildcat and he ment an other gun,.....because I think the Wildcat is one of the nicest, sleekest and well proportioned pups out there.

meeeh not my cup of tea I too have a couple of ugly rifles my Gamo Swarm and Gamo Whisper Fusion neither is particularly attractive but they are fun to shoot

Yeah, I meant the other FX gun- the amorphoous blob-of-synthetic AKA Bobcat. Granted, if I had one, I'd enjoy selling it to fund whatever I got next.

I dunno...compared to most of the listings in this thread this rifle looks downright gorgeous! ;D It's got some interesting features as well. Like the lever action (LOVE my Golden Boy) and the removable/replaceable iron sights. Interesting. JMHO Thanks much for posting!
