This new PCP may or may not shoot as good as it looks. However, it sure looks good for $200:

Makes me wonder about using it for parts to make something else....
-
It looks better when you get it for $168 and even much better for $189 + 2 extra mags shipped.
-
HeeHee
Yep...
Wonder what OTHER name brand will put these out too.
I'm moving this thread to the PCP Gate.
And for the price, the quality is excellent. Especially for a Chinese PCP.
:P
-
Heck Dave... I'm still waiting for the GAMO 880 pumper.
Crosman already got the Red Ryder and called it a Sheridan.
-
We all know the truth.
Hopefully a SPA Diana pistol will be released soon. I need another PP700, only in .22. And the PR900W Stormrider would make a great companion for my current PP700.
-
Too bad it's Chinese.
If it wasn't I would get one.

And let's not forget the MRodair Varmint.

LOL.... wonder how many closet Varmint owners we'll have before it's over.

Looks like them lil' Chinese dudes are pretty sharp huh? They sold them to everyone and told them to call them whatever they wanted.
Nothing new.... look at GM.

I am a PCP virgin. Know absolutely nothing about them.
Would this be a good "try it out gun" ? without spending a lot of money ? Buy the gun and a hand pump ?
Would probably make this my hunter gun ?
Anybody own one ? what about accuracy ?
Thanks
-
We have a thread on the MRodAir Varmint going, a couple of them matter of fact. Same airgun. I bought the .22 and was so impressed at the quality and accuracy I bought the .177 also. They are powerful enough and extremely accurate to be good hunters. I just enjoy shooting them!!!
-
Yes, Yes, Yes, Yes, and Yes. This little gun will amaze you. And if you have problems. Jump on your bicycle and ride over to my house. I'm in Luverene bout 30 minutes east of Greenville.
-
jusanothajoe the Varmint is a great hunting gun, plenty of power. The very first kill I had with mine was a Groundhog. If you plan on using a hand pump it's not a whole lotta work because it's not a huge air tube on this gun. I've topped mine off a couple of times when I got carried away plinking when I was out hunting.

YES! A $169.00 Varmint (same rifle, just $30 cheaper) and a $60.00 Walmart Hand Pump, and you are on your way down the Rabbit Hole!

I see AGD has also jumped on the StormRider wagon.
-
Curious, the Diana at the top of the thread looks to have enough room to add a shroud, but Wayne's pic looks to have a tighter gap between barrel and airtube. Is that a change in design? or artifact of Wayne's pic?
Has someone (David?) already fitted it with a shroud/baffles?
-
I think you're seeing an illusion. They're the same.

It's the same pump as the $72 Chinese pump that everyone was talking about a couple months ago. I have one and it works just fine. I don't use it much at all but, it's great for back up.

Doesn't Diana risk watering down their top-notch German brand by putting their name on an inexpensive Chinese?
-
Doesn't Diana risk watering down their top-notch German brand by putting their name on an inexpensive Chinese?
No.
First off, they are not the topper-most of the top-notch German guns, anyway, and they have no directly competing PCP design of their own. Besides, these guns look and perform like entry-level German guns, regardless of being from China.
This is a trend we shall benefit from again and again as we move forward, we'll have a LOT more choices for low-dollar, high-performance equipment before too long..
I bet SPA builds these for under $20 each, and sells them wholesale for about $50-60...
Now that the designs are proving themselves, expect more saturation and price drops.
We up in da high cotton now, fellas. Live big, live cheap!
-
I don't think so but, it does give a hint of insight.
-
IMO... one of the biggest improvements to the "Chinese" lines of guns is hands down the triggers. These are the same people who gave us the Industry Brand.... can you say B1-X to B5-X?.... Cummins Tool Truck?

Those days are coming to an end..
When I was little, my daddy used to rail about 'cheap Japanese' products. Now? Japanese products are often the leading edge of design and quality.
Same with Turkish guns, same with most all Eastern European guns. The world is changing, and we can change with it, or be left behind. My daddy never got over his feelings about Japanese products, and it was his loss, really...
My momma bought a Japanese car after daddy passed with his money, ha ha! We've been laughing about that at family reunions for a looong time, lol..
-
It's amazing... when everyone else is going cheaper and cheaper.. these guys are raising the bar.

Bill this is probably the one that you're talking about, this think is all stainless too, it' s one of the water cooled ones. I remember one guy dumped the water out of his and he said it didn't get any hotter than it did before he emptied it.

Water for cooling? It doesn't mentioned anything about having water for cooling or are you just trying to be funny ;D
I'm using it to top off my PCP when my SCUBA tank gets lower than 3000 psi. Working just fine for that.

Yes Wayne, that's the one.
I've seen Tyler jump right in and satisfy the most unhappy customer right in the open forum. He's a straight shooter and does what he says he'll do. Don't take his kindness as weakness... if he can do it he will. If he can't, he won't say he can.
We are a better place having him here.

That looks like the one I have also, but I don't think it's water cooled, unless I'm using it outside, in the rain! So far it have worked great. I did have a bit of an air leak when I first got it, but it may have been my fault for not tightening the gauge enough when I installed it. The seller had me disassemble it and clean an o-ring, which I did at the same time I retightened everything, including the gauge. It has not leaked since, so I'm not sure if it was the o-ring, the gauge not being tightened enough, or a combination of both!
-
I do not like high mounting scopes and it looks like it would have to be single shot mode for me... but a 2900 psi fill over the Disco's 2000 psi is a big plus for it...

This is the one I bought: http://amzn.to/2uyyBf3 (http://amzn.to/2uyyBf3)
It was $65.99 when I bought it. I think it's the same one that I linked from Walmart above. Regardless, it's a great price for anyone looking to get started with PCP. For comparison, my trip down the Rabbit Hole started with the Benjamin Maximus Starter Kit that includes the Benjamin Hand Pump. Using the 25% off code and free shipping Friday, it cost me $262.49. The Varmint/Chinese pump combo would be about $229.
-
HAve two of the cheapish Chinese pumps. One of them (not totally cheap then) about 2 1/2 -3 years of use (still works) and the other about 1 - 1 1/2 years of use. Pretty much only use those and there are a lot of PCP's to fill.
Neglected the Hill pump during all this....which seems to have died from neglect rather than use...needs to be taken apart and at least cleaned if not rebuilt.

Paul. we'll have to look up that video were the guy is tearing one down and putting it back together but, they definitely are water cooled. Yours may have lost it's water. I have heard some folks say they dumped the water and it still don't badly overheat. I know water in an air pump don't sound quite right but they have a separate water jacket and there is no danger of the cooling water getting in your gun.

I took mine apart because I was very skeptical about there being water in it myself, mine does have water in it, there's not much but I guess it might help for cooling, I left the water in mine because I wondered how good the orings were that came in the pump thinking they wouldn't take a lot of heat but it's still fine. There was a thread that is super long about them in GTA and it tells about it. I even said in that thread I never seen where mine was supposed to be water cooled but I can't remember exactly who it was said I'll bet there is, so I took it apart and sure enough there is water in it.
-
Wayne, so where is the water? Is it in the tube or in the base? I have not completely disassembled mine, but I did shake and listened for some sloshing! I didn't hear any... ???

It seems like it's between the high and low pressure tubes, actually orings keep it from going in the air, there were a couple of guys that got them from ebay and water actually shot out of the fill pump when they went to pump them, come to find out they had bad orings in them from China. I like the idea of the stainless myself because they don't rust like my Benjamin did.

I bought my TAOUSA pump at the beginning of last year, it's still going strong and I think I paid about $120 for that, great for the 3K guns, that's what I put in my truck when I go hunting in case I get carried away on plinking too much :D

I have one of the pumps and have been alternating between it and my Hill pump for about a year. The China pump has held up fine with no issues. I don't think mine has water in it, but I have not taken it apart to be sure.

Steve I also didn't think mine had water in it till I got to researching it and curiosity killed the cat, I really don't think it's going to hurt anything and will probably help for the longevity of the o rings in it.
