Experience with these kits? My understanding was they originally were developed for the 45 and 50 caliber Dragon Claw.
These are great people to deal with, timely and helpful. They also have a some pellet molds that are a creative blend of old and new styles of molds with plugs to adjust weights... cool... might try one... right now I have a pretty decent 129 grain .357 mold and am happy with it.

Mine is still sitting on my gun tray..:) I did manage to cut a scewdriver extension in preparation for welding last weekend (need a 24" screwdriver to take the valve out of the Sam Yangs) perhaps I will weld it this weekend along with my custom gun bench ;D

I watched cedrics video on that and his two foot long assembly and called Oreilly's and asked if for some reason they might have a two foot long screwdrivers... and lo and guess what... ;D
So before you embark... though I do stuff just to do stuff sometimes... and that's fun too... 8)

Aw man! I looked all over the place and couldnt find one. Well, at least for not less than $40. Bought one for $8 and will weld it myself.

;D I'm not a welder but before I found the set.. which I'll probably only use on the recluse... :D I had thought of cutting up a couple of my longer ones and sliding a tube over and silver soldering... but overall... when the job gets done... then we have some fun... :D
-
FYI guys, I got my longer screwdrivers from HARBOR FREIGHT of all places. They ARE GOOD for some things.....lol.
I got the long screw drivers in a 2 piece set for a WHOPPING...............9 Dollars.......lol!
Cut 6 inches off the phillips body and had Doug weld that piece onto the Flat Blade.
Him welding it also made the screwdriver MAGNETIC........................ 8)

That would actually be a very handy feature in them darkest of recesses.... fumbling around... ;D I'm curious about the method of holding the valve in place that you'd have to unscrew it from the inside air tank. The schematic that I've looked at isn't all that clear on it... :D

Thanks Cedric! Ya, unfortunately we get GOUGED by shipping here. HF is one of the worst at least the last time I checked. Amazon Prime is our friend, yea Tom?!

I've bought a couple of rock tumblers from Harbor freight and some router bit collars or whatever they're called... and then, they couldn't ship powder coat to me....??? Shipping from Amazon, if I can find something I don't need tomorrow can sometimes be ok, but shipping to hawaii in many many cases is more than the cost of the item.

Rattus (TOM),
Ok, i will try to explain the valve and keep it simple.
1. The valve is 2 a piece design that gets screwed and unscrewed together
2. A oring seals between the 2 pieces to keep air from leaking out from the valve at the ACTION SIDE. Yes, the 2 pieces when screwed together SEALS the airtube via the oring in the middle.
3. The bottom half of the valve (BASE) closest to the ACTION is held in by 6 screws
4. The TOP half of the valve which faces the MUZZLE, is the one with a slot that gets screwed in and out with the 2' screwdriver. The top half of the valve is also the HPA INLET for the valve. Kinda like Crosman guns IIRC!

Welded up my screwdriver today and a custom "one fits all" gun bench tray!
Cool.. I'm in the process of making a tray, sort of , for my guns as well... Mines going to be wood using sawed in half 2 x 4's i've laying around and some MDF... might be a little heavy but haven't quite figured out the "one tray fits all"... hopefully something will light up... :D
-
Here is the tray...MAY put the Dragon Claw on it today!!! If not too many honey do's! The mounts slide down the length of the tray to accommodate any length of gun. Used an old shelf from work. No more lost screws!

hey... that's a grand idea.... the nice thing about ADDHD... (Adult Deficit Disorder in High Definition) you can get easily sidetracked... :D I have some shelving... wonder if it can be adapted... thanks for the stellar idear... and we know what that means surely.. :) Thanks for the pictures, very nicely done... nice to be skilled... :)
Aloha...Tom

Thanks Tom! Would like to see what you come up with!
-
Ok, the DC is on the mount discharged and ready for dis-assembly. I did shoot some of the slugs I poured this weekend (yes it was an airgun weekend!!) I was really surprised at the power with that heavy slug...only at 20 yards though. It put some huge holes in the target (the three in the bulls eye...was using a recycled target)! Will be really interested to see what happens when the kit is installed!

Those almost look like the LEE new minie for a muzzleloader... :D One thing about lead... it sticks together quite well... makes the penetration thing more assured with an airgun in my opinion too... ;D
Fits your tray really nicely too...

Yep that is the Lee Minie..from the looks of it, it will be my go to round for pigs.
The waiting begins for the Kit! I was surprised how fast mine arrived from South Africa...think it was just over a week.
I have something on the way too.......waiting!

I used a 320 grain 45 caliber version for the first deer I shot on Lanai with my Volunteer... This went sailing through the deer with 70 grains of powder... My 58 caliber version of this bullet down by the beach in Kahue on Lanai took out a doe lengthwise and a mouflon on the Private side from back to front and blew out its chest leaving at least a 4" hole... just for reference... :D
Almost forgot to ask.... what's coming? ;D

guys/gals,the kit installed is great, now there are 2 different springs, the improved spring jeremy sent me is a stronger one then the one that originaly came with my kit,, took all i could do at first to cock it with the new spring, but as he said, it gets easier as it break's in,as for the power, wow,in my 909 500cc its over 400fpe with a 385gr bbt,but i shoot the 250gr bullets at 365fpe and there very accurate, now i am going to re-crony the gun with the new crony i bought and at a higher fill pressure, just to see what it will do.last crony died of lead contamination while testing this gun,lol waiting to hear how yours did once installed,it truly act;s like a different gun with the kit,i also did a little trigger work on mine, was easy to do, and once you get the yang apart ,you will see how easy these guns are to work on,only other thing i will suggest,if you can,get a machine shop to do your boring,it take,s the guess work out of drilling it with a drill press if your not very good at using one[um like me]then once bored all you need do is re assemble it,and go shoot something, lol, ;D

Thanks Super! got mine torn down...here is what it looks like now...wonder if I can source another spring here on island. N
Nice Axis Tom!

Mahalos Tom! I think we got the spring situation figured out.
Regarding the suspense.....dont want to say just yet, afraid of jinxing it!!!

Guys thought id just like to say . The kit does come with the new hammer spring . lol The reason we made the new hammer was that the bore size on the original Sam Yang hammer was very limiting as far as springs goes the new hammer lets you use bigger springs. Also the original cocking handles kept breaking so we added a new super strong handle to the mix as well.
-
Thanks Jeremy!

And now arrived in Honolulu.... ;D

Following, just contacted them last night at Air Ordinance for prices.

Mine is stripped down, just need to do the machining and reassemble. Not going to happen anytime soon...down with the flu and want to be clear headed when drilling.
Here is a comparison the the stock vs AAO components, valve, spring and hammer. Stock parts are on the right. Note how much larger the TP is.
-
msurf, get yourself well, and install that kit, i know its calling to you,and bet your fighting the temptation,of starting on it,lol, brother you will ?when your done: if you drill her right,be very pleased with the results, and the power increase, may be a bear to cock it,heck my first try to get it to high i did with my fat 14 foot.,lol, and believe me i,m a master auto tech and 265 lb and 6.0 ft,and can bench my weight and then sum, this thing is stout,so good luck, what i enjoy most about the twin tube with 400+ fpe with the right bullet, is light, short in comparison to the my Texan 45 cal,and so accurate, also while your in there, do some trigger work, you'll enjoy it more.good luck brother, get well and god bless. ;D

hopefully.... ;D... it went out for delivery at 14:58 today from Honolulu... I'm Assuming DHL uses Tiemore or Aloha Cargo from Honolulu to Hilo... so if so... might be here tomorrow for sure... :D... I'm sending Zach his funds tonight too... now I've got that straightened out... I've had nothing but grief with PayPal and can't stand them... plus they are anti gun... and I loathe doing business with them.... but... no pain no gain.... and the money is going tonight.
Aloha.. Tom 8)

AND FOR THOSE WHO DEAL WITH ZACH ALLEN.... he emailed me and asked me if my Recluse had one or two tubes, and were they the same size... and frankly.. I'd never bothered to check an... "gulp" not only were they different, they were .35 and 1.35 tubes.... Yikes.... beauty is dazzling sometimes ... so much so that you overlook details... without Zach's questioning i'd have been really disappointed and my own fault... so... two thumbs up for the AAO/Zach_Allen TEAM... and wouldn't hurt probably to have them two hook up to deliver with each kit an option of tools.. spanner, drills and whatnot.... Simplify Simplify Simplify... :D for people like me....
-
Well she's here.... And Jeremy was nice enough to provide me a set of parent pellets so that they can beget these cute little pellets... Actually they are well made and I'm anxious to try them (.25 ) and the gargantuans are .357.
Awesome kit... Got my valve, hammer, O rings and hammer pull. Along with it are a guide and two drills for the installation.. Well done!
Can't wait to now get into the gun.
Aloha... 8)

Awuritte Tom! Yep Jeremy's kits are the bomb!
-
The reassembly begins! Here is a pic of the tools provided in the kit ( if you purchase it with). 8mm bit, 8mm brass bar, and 12mm slot drill.
Next pics are drilling the receiver and tube and deburring the tube.
-
Well, one snafu, I buggered up the or rings for the barrel slide They are still in tact, but I need to replace them. I dont think those are in the kit so will have to go to the hardware store and find some. I got some 1500 grit paper and softened the edges to the area as shown in the pic. This will prevent cutting the orings when I reinstall them.
-
Great Pictures Mike! I'm Probable going to start on this on Monday but I have a question for you as to how did you ascertain the proper depths. My drill press has a "stop" I can adjust but it isn't a micrometer affair if you know what I mean.. ;D. I can see this going .001 one way or the other and Jeremy's instructions were NO MORE THAN... .177 for example.
When you drilled the end cap are you drilling INSIDE OF A THREADED PASSAGEWAY? Did or does your drill press have any play in it? My has a small amount play, do you feel this will compromise the process (damage the threads)?
Now I'm excited, but this last bit is a bit of a concern.
Much Aloha,
Tom
-
Hey Tom,
I didn't use a drill stop, I just measured and drew a line around the bit. Alternatively you can use tape. Not really that bad.
The other end is a bit tricky. Dont know if you can see in the pics but I have a two axis vice underneath....really helps to line up.
Measure 5 times, then cut ;) How much runout do you have? I wouldn't attempt it with any significant play. I though about just drilling through the barrel connector. Perhaps Jeremy has some insight.

I don't have a lot and I'm going to take it down to my lowest RPM should help and chuck it as close as I can to the bit.. but I do have some. How big is that opening before drilling it out? is is possible to incrementally go up with smaller bits or is it close from the start?
Aloha tom... and if you have time I wonder if you wouldn't mind calling me 982-4747? ;D
-
I checked the runout... there is some.. but I'm going to put a dial gauge on it to just make sure so I think I'm good there. Now I've not taken my gun apart yet, but that pin for the barrel, how does that work in relation to the barrel being secured to the gun?
Aloha,
Tom

Hi Tom,
I'll try to give you a call today. The TP passages are 6mm I believe (you open to 8mm) the TP opening is about 9.5 mm (you open to 12mm) . You could incrementally open the passages (I did not), but you need a slot bit for the TP opening, as you need a flat base when finished...I see you have it in the kit.
Pin for the barrel...not sure exactly what you mean, but the barrel is secured in the front by two allen screws one on top of each other on the front sight assembly...make sure to take both out. The rear is just press fit on to a nipple with orings. Hope this helps!

Haha... Always them little screws the one's that get you...
Looking forward to this later today and getting to work on it in the morning. I have an almost imperceptible run out on my drill press, so I'm fairly comfortable with this with what I have here! Going to spin it againt a dial gauge to make sure... but I think it should be ok!

My kit is installed, and holding air for the past three days. Fired it twice into a pillow, so I know it fires. Cocking is a chore to full power, but didnt have to use my foot...almost though!
Did you get yours installed Tom?

Not yet... I ran into a more pressing issue for me and that was when I opened up my percussion revolver to check it, I found it pretty much rusted closed... so much for Ballistol... anyway... got it apart cleaned it up and then decided to work on a couple things to smooth it up... I did get the air out of my gun so I'm ready to start, got my drill press turned down and trued up my table for when I do start drilling.
I'm still confused about the end piece... there is obviously a hole that goes through the screw that plugs into the barrel... are you opening up the area below the screw but leaving the screw hole the same diameter?
The cocking force is such that you're thinking about using your foot... :P Wow.... might have to have the missuse along to cock it for me... ::) I'm going to disassemble this weekend at least and I'm waiting on the spanners from Zach.. whom, by the way if anyone hasn't done business with him, is a pleasure to do business with and he understands airguns. I'd gladly endorse him and Jeremy both to anyone who is thinking or is undecided... you've nothing to fear but fear itself... they two are top shelf!
Back to your gun.. I can't wait for you to shoot it and more important.. can't wait for you to kill... you know like that alices restaraunt kid... sayin... i want to hear you sayin... "I wanna kill...I mean KILL, KILL, KILL, jumpin up and down, yellin KILL, KILL, KILL... till them coats come and take you off... Son... yer the one....!" and I expect a nice spotted deer hanging from the that tree in your back yard.. nice marbled nutritious straps and steaks... and one of them grins where I can't see your face... 8)...
Besides my Recluse... I want to go hunting with my percussion pistol...
back to you.... Can't wait to hear how it shoots!!!

Tom once you have it apart and remove the nipple where the barrel attaches to the receiver if you look inside you will see that there is a restricted hole after the thread by using the 8mm drill all you are doing is removing the restricted hole not the thread that the nipple screws into to open up the air passage .

Thank you... makes sense now... ;D

By the.. while I was "degassing" my Recluse, the hammer locked up... this was at about 100 bar. I remembered a post about if that happens, try to regas and start over... which I did and in fact solved the problem. But my question is, what "mechanically" caused that to happen.. anyone?
Much Aloha,
Tom

Those almost look like the LEE new minie for a muzzleloader... :D One thing about lead... it sticks together quite well... makes the penetration thing more assured with an airgun in my opinion too... ;D
Fits your tray really nicely too...
Aloha... Tom
Almost forgot to ask.... what's coming? ;D
im sorry but no way can you reference a muzzle loader to airguns then you say it was a 45 cal then a 58 cal wich is it. then he asked whats coming he doesnt even kno what the subject is wow seems like you just want people to see your hunt this is a airgun forum not fireams in my pic obviously a stock dragonclaw 50cal airgun 250gr 72 yards full pass thru thats reference. but good job all hunts are sacred. i just hunted parker ranch in hawaii. i will be also getting the tune kit for my dragon soon thats what he was talking about

What on earth makes you think I hunt with only a .451 caliber Volunteer? I hunt exclusively with Muzzleloaders and for your information, am trying to get Airguns legal in Hawaii along with Crossbows to hunt. For YOUR information, I hunt with my muzzleloaders in basically 3 calibers, two of them legal... .41, .451, and 58. Muzzle loader bullets and AIRGUN LEAD BULLETS behave pretty much exactly the same. I don't know what YOUR problem is but it's great you had a chance to hunt Parker Rance. Was it with Leon?
