CDT Trigger Thread
«
on:
October 16, 2015, 05:05:30 PM »
Okay, here is the beginning of a thread pertaining to all things CDT triggers. Let me give you a brief story and the reason for this thread.
Bob (the original CharlieDaTuna) retired a few years back from the trigger business. When he retired, he sold the trigger business to Gene. Gene and wife Cathy took over and nothing really changed. The same machinist is doing the same work, same folks are adding the anodized finish and each trigger is hand calibrated with the exact same jigs as from the beginning. Gene had involved Cathy in the trigger business and spent quite a bit of time going over all of the details after finding out about his health issues.
Cathy has been doing the CDT trigger business by herself since around November 2014. She has no plans on stopping either, and that's good for us.
She has turned to me for help with the CDT website and I am advising with an overdue facelift.
Since she does not have access to ALL the types, kinds and brands of airguns (nobody that I know of does) she can certainly use our help from time to time staying up to date. Folks, we REALLY want these fantastic triggers (GRT-III, CBR & GRT-4G) to remain available to us. They are by FAR the most economical and easiest improvement anyone can do to an airgun they fit.
So what I would ask of you is this. Please look at the present list of airguns that these triggers will work in.
http://www.charliedatuna.com/Place%20Order%20non%20PP.htm
If you have installed a CDT trigger in an airgun that is not listed on the site, please post it here and send me a message. I'll try to keep an up to date list and to keep the site as current as possible. And if you have a question about a particular airgun and a CDT trigger, please post that here also. We will try to help you determine if one of these triggers will work. A good close up picture or two of your trigger group would help us help you.
So, let's do what we can to help Cathy and to show our support to keep this line of triggers available to all.
Thanks for your help!!!!
SAFE & Happy Shooting!!!!
Dave

Looks like I found the right gate as I'm trying to find out if the GRT III trigger will fit my Hatsan Edge .25 Vortex and springer and if it does, you can add those rifles to the list, sooo....I will more than happily send the lady my money for these triggers, but being cautious as always, I wanted to post a couple pics of my rifle triggers (they both have the same one) and get however many opinions show up. I'm very new to the whole tuning and upgrading thing, but as far as I can see, the GRT III should work, please let me know what you think and thanks in advance for any advice!!!

The GRT-4G Trigger will fit the Buccaneer pcp, You do have to separate the receiver from the tube because it has a dowel pin that goes through the tube to the trigger housing, you cannot get the cover off the trigger housing without removing it. Be carefull because there is a spring and detent ball and the tp and also a small pin that will fall out. David

Stand by...the CDT website is undergoing a major facelift. We are working to unclutter it, update it and make it more visitor friendly. This will take a bit of time but keep watching. The "About" page will be updated to tell the "CharlieDaTuna" story. Thanks to all that continue the support to insure we have these fantastic triggers available!!!

I visited the web site a couple of times I really wanted a trigger for my trail np2 but the site is hard to navigate and it seems you can not order directly from the site. Sure would be nice if they took PayPal or offered the trigger on Amazon.

They are available outside the US from the distributors.
Check the order page.
To our European customers
European customers can order directly from our only European distributor:
Dutch or English (European buyers)

Mailed my $ to Cathy Curtis
the GRTIII trigger arrived 8 days later
Took -TIMED- 14 minutes to install it in my Crosman Phantom NP .22-this includes stock off stock on-
the only instructions I used was the simple U-TUBE 2:30 video-
no reading just monkey see monkey do
(I am old so I usually prefer written instructions and paper maps)-but the u-tube video was fine
Works GREAT right out of the box with whatever setting it is on-my standing freehand open sight groups were cut in half(not that great-bad eyes low bar-)
The trigger-actually works a tiny bit better(suits me better) than the T06 in my RWS 460
Anyway the best $33 aftermarket mod. you will ever do-

Since they won't ship outside the US, I guess being a Canadian I'll have to settle for one of the knock offs ☹️

Check the link, they do have distributors for orders outside the USA. I wouldn't suggest buying the knock-off trigger and definitely advise you not to discuss them here.

Thanks for hooking me up Dave. Trigger is installed, had to do a little filing but it works great. Hard to believe the difference it makes, I didn't like shooting the Trail before the swap and now it is a pleasure to shoot.

Just today I installed a CDT III Trigger on a friend's Stoeger X20S .22 cal air rifle. It was very easy, just as shown by the video and written instructions found online. And the results were way beyond expectations. WELL worth the money, and then some.
When I test fired it it was a surprise when it fired -- as it should be. I followed instructions and did not adjust it in any way.
If I buy an air rifle with this trigger group I'll certainly add the CDT III trigger, no question.

Ciao,
Does any one know how to reset the GRTIII back to factory settings? Or direct me to existing instructions?
I installed it to my Hunter Extreme and boy what a difference it made. The problem is that i tried to make it "even better" and soon lost the first stage completely and so on. Classic. Its still far better than the original though.
I tried to look for instructions on the GDT website but couldnt find any.
Thanks,..

Down toward the bottom of the page is Installing the GRT-III. There is a troubleshooting guide that should help you get it reset.

Just wanted to add a few thoughts in case there are any other complete amateurs like me here thinking of switching to a GRTIII trigger...
I put it on my Gamo Hunter Extreme SE and the procedure was very easy and fast with youtube instructions and it made the gun infinitely better - close to being manageable for a beginner))
The manual that comes with the trigger says not to do anything before reading it. This time it's actually true. So read it. I didn't.
Here's what I would recommend to novice shooters after making the upgrade: Dont adjust anything on the trigger before shooting at least a hundred pellets with it. It will most likely feel very different from the original trigger and that alone is something to get used to. Especially dont touch the first stage adjustment. Dont touch anything actually if it works. You will have time to fine tune it once you've gotten to know each other. If you tinker too much with first stage adjustment screw it will get loose and fall off trust me. It is not meant for that.
Also the "bump" or the beginning of the second stage is as it says on the manual very very slight. So much so that I missed it all together at first because I was used to the 1000lb trigger pull weight of the original Gamo trigger!
All this is of course obvious to more experienced shooters and there's probably lots more and better advice out there but I hope this will help at least some one.
Cheers!
