I've just purchased one of these because this website's members have said good things about it and the price was right. It is the same reason I bought a Benji 392 - on the 392 it's common knowledge the end of the barrel frequently has paint or overspray and should be cleaned first thing.
Are there any things I need to take care of or worry about with this gun out of the box?

Man, if I had known you wanted a QB I would have sold you mine. Had it up a while back with a Benji, but it expired. Well open her up and start cleaning out that orange Chinese grease. You can replace the factory TP if I recall its bigger than the standard ice maker tubing that you would use for the 13xx. Using a dremel I bored the bolt ports larger. To polish the trigger group is quite easy. I used moly on the contact points.

Ice maker tubing or the transfer port seal from a 13xx/22xx will fit perfectly.
I would recommend replacing the valve o-ring. the stock one usually leaks and if it doesn't now, CO2 percolates through it eventually.
Here is a post that lists all the o-rings for your gun-

If you have a Harbor Freight nearby, item 67677 Storehouse Nitrile O-Ring Assortment has every o-ring you need for a .22 QB-78 for just a couple of bucks.

I followed this guide when working on my first qb78, it is very simple to tweak and tune.
