Walther trigger adjustment help

I just received a Walther LG55T. Two stage trigger. When the trigger hits the second stage, it moves about 1/8" before the shot releases. This is called "creep"? My other triggers release right at the start of the 2nd stage so I have little experience with adjustment.
This is the best I've found for Walther trigger adjustment:
Please help me understand the diagram.
Screw 18 is trigger weight. 1st stage weight or second stage weight?
Screw 19 is slack. Is this another way of saying 1st stage length?
Screw 20 (THE FORBIDDEN SCREW!!). Walther wants you to send the rifle back to them before you touch this screw.
I'm guessing screw 20 adjusts sear engagement. reduce sear engagement too much and the gun becomes dangerous, right? It seems to me that Screw 20 is the one I want to reduce the creep. Screw it clockwise to reduce the creep.
Here is another diagram that might be helpful:

Trigger slack is the first stage. It may consist of a take up with little or no resistance and then a very slight resistance until it comes to the first stage stop. This stop is where the second stage picks up and it is where you want to eliminate the creep.
If you are good with where the trigger stops off the first stage, try turning OUT the second stage screw (let off point #20) to eliminate the creep. Generally that is the way to do it. It allows the first stage screw to push the arm further down the sear and closer to let off, but it will change the position of the slack. No matter what, which ever way you move it, count the turns so you can return it to where it was and not get lost in the adjustments. Do one have turns max. If you find you are going the wrong way, return to original position and
Another way to tackle the problem is to fully back out the second stage #20 screw and work the first stage to your liking so it shoots the gun with no second stage at all. Then turn the second stage screw in until the gun develops a second stage with little or no creep.
The trigger weight screw can be adjusted for pull weight but don't rely on it to do it all.
What you are trying to do is get that first stage so that it pushes the sear arm to a point just before let off and then let the second stage screw do the rest.
You yourself have to determine what is safe for you. I set my triggers and bang the gun on a towel laid on the bench. It should not fire. If it does, it is too close to the hairy edge and has to be re-adjusted.

Thanks for the post Springrrrr. I appreciate the detailed response. I started following your advice but was having trouble with the piston not latching or if it did, it would release if I closed the breach hard.
I had noticed some powdery material in the gun after I shot several pellets. Also it was covered with powder when I unboxed it for the first time. I had thought it was something in the box. But I clean the gun then shoot it and the powder came back. Long story...I removed the lead weight in the forestock and it was somewhat corroded looking and covered with whitish powder on the underside. I beadblasted it and put it back in. The gritty powder had gotten into the trigger block and the lube on the spring. I flushed the trigger with lighter fluid then sprayed it with Ballistoil. I cleaned out the compression tube and relubed everything. Surprise, the piston now latched. I was very happy as I thought my trigger adjustments has caused the non-lockup. What was that powder? Lead oxide? I thought maybe the stock had been cleaned with a fluid in the past that seeped under the weight and dried up.
Anyway, a backed out screw 20 and the trigger creep pretty much went away. Whoo hoo! First stage is a little long and the first stage screw is bottomed out. It only pushes against the tab to shorten the first stage in the last turn or two. Like the screw is too short but I had a hard look at the end of the screw and it does not look like it had been shortened. I can live with the long first stage for now.
What I can't live with is the fact that it shoots 1.75" high at 10 meters with the rear sight all the way cranked down. I'm going to start another post to address this problem.
