Sear problem with AA S510 FAC

I just bought a new Air Arms S510 Ultimate Sporter. The gun is amazing except for one frustrating flaw. If your finger slips of the cocking lever before it is fully cocked the lever will fly forward and break the upper sear. This has happened to me twice in the last two weeks. The first time was after only a week of having it. Air Venturing (the US importer of AA guns) was really great. The paid for return shipping repaired the gun and I received on Thursday. I was shooting it today and the same thing happened. It was hot out and my hands were slightly slick from perspiration and pellet lubricant. Even though I was being careful, my finger slipped off and adios sear #2.
The service folks at Air Venturi said that this a known problem and that the upper sear is very delicate. Unfortunately, I can vouch for that. Am I the world's biggest klutz or have others had similar problems?

I have heard of the problem but I have yet to have my lever slip out of my hand while cocking. I guess you can chock it up to bad luck.

Man that not worthy, I don't have a S510, I wish, maybe you could figure a way to put something grippy on the lever like a piece of fabric hockey tape if it doen't hurt the looks to much.

Yeah, put some tennis grip wrap on or something. I've never heard of this happening.

I applied some 3M grey rubbery grip tape used on stairs on the inside of the cocking lever. Seems to work pretty well and doesn't show. I've also ordered a second spare sear, just in case I get another attack of the Sweaty Klutzes...

I have an AA S410 FAC carbine with the same cocking lever.....I'm assuming the parts in that area are the same. Luckily I've never let go of the lever by accident.
One thing to remember is the "Safety" on the trigger. In the U.K Air Arms chat/blog websites, the owners say lots of them had the very little hex screw (Behind the trigger) back off resulting in losing the hex screw, very small spring, very small bb bearing (The latter two used to press on the "Safety" cylinder) and cylinder itself.
That did not happen to me. I had tested the safety a few times at home before using the air rifle to make sure it works. And had a few sessions with the rifle at the gun range. Then one time I cocked and loaded a pellet but got into talking with another shooter...so I pressed the Safety on.....but the Safety did not go in and I had to use a lot of pressure to click it in. Later at home I unscrewed the hex screw and only the hex screw, spring and cylinder dropped out. The bb ball bearing was never in there!! Air Arms sent me 2 bb bearings after I mailed them my concern/letter.

The part number for the sear is AAP-S320-2 [PY-A-4059] and it is available through Pyramyd Air.
I had the same problem with the set screw on the trigger safety. A very tiny drop of blue Loctite on the grub screw solved the problem.

Does anyone know why the sear has the gap on the bottom side? It seems to me the sear would not break with out that gap. It must have a purpose. (I guess)
