Hi All, On the Cast Bullet dedication PAGE on TAG Forum by TOFAZFOU, Charley/Roachcreek has a video of longest air rifle shot, 615 yds...Calls it Pepsi Challenge. Single can and reading the 11 pages of that feat he said he couldn't do it again that day....I never read where he tried again or not? Couple weeks ago I set up 3 Soda Cans at 700 yds...Busted all 3 cans. I had shot previously at the RAM at same distance, so knew I could hit cans. Also just put up another can after and as was going to change to different weight bullet...Started camera again....Took to much time dialing in as over berm in grass or under in grass and didn't know where i was hitting at all....When finally hit the berm dirt way left of camera and can i zeroed in and hit the 4th can but camera was off by time i got back down 700 yds......the busted cans was with a 92 gr fb cast lead bullet.Was extremely difficult to hit....Could hit close and around can but only 4.8" high by 2.6" wide, very small at distance........Condor .257..Also the cans I hit were in the order I shot at, starting middle first. That day looks like with that distance bumped the pressure to 3750 psi and get 1003 fps........92 gr fb bullet Thanks for commenting.............Carl

I'm afraid "RC" became Blind shortly after this feat. We owe him a LOT, as he set the Bar for us to follow with his research.
Without him, we wouldn't have the the Big Bore AF guns. It was his brain child, and brought to frutation thru the efforts of himself and Dyotat 100. Although he himself never had a Big Bore AF gun, he did put a lot into the idea that Doug (Dyotat 100) has brought us). He was in the process of getting one from Doug, when he lost the sight in his only good eye. Sad!

He accomplished this feat however with a Jack Haley .257, And is the person that got Cedric, (Tofazfou), Rj Porter, (Caster for the .257's), Doug (Dyotat 100) and I, KnifeMaker (Mike), interested in the .257. and as they say, the rest is history. It has really taken off and supprised a LOT of people!

Now if Tom would just pay attention! Hint-Hint!!!

He really helped RJ, Tofaz, and I get started in the casting for our own guns, and RJ, to later cast for all of us.

A lot of his early work can be found on the Tag, along with ours. At the time, he posted here some, but there simply wasn't any interest at that time. However, the rest of us have moved here, as you can see.

Not once in a lifetime, but about one can out of every 3 shots.... I'd call THAT the reality....

Thanks, I just want to see how far this .257 can actually get to......It is getting extremely difficult now as i keep pushing further......I am close to finding the END?

It may happen once or many times in a lifetime but only with a lot of work and is not easy, I know. Someone will call it luck anyway but some are luckier than others for some reason...

Knife, When i discovered the TAG page Cedric put up i read all the exploits of RC and Cedric and became personally aquainted with Doug and I WANTED ONE, the .257. Randy built my first one.......Within a few weeks i had DOUGS valve and spring, CF BOTTLE and wanted longer bbl and built the RED myself with machine work by my gunsmith....I learned from RC writings and others on that page.....I know how much he meant to the birth of what is going on now. Doug has told me of his going blind ..........I for long range was using the RAM and taking it further out.......I had told DOUG for giggles was getting bored with that and was going to use soda cans soon and give it a try....So no harm intended to RC'S deeds as why i mentioned his name first and the TAG page and his naming it the PEPSI CHALLENGE.........Was to cheap to use PEPSI and got the generic brand 12 pack and busted 4 cans and gave the rest to the range friends as i don't drink that sugar........

What i am doing is extending OUT the furtherest reach that a .257 WILL GO and i will take it that far.....Then we will all know what CAN BE DONE until someone else develops something that gets to the next level....Thanks KNIFE for the comments.........................Carl

Thanks Bob.......FIrst can only took 2 shots, several more for 2nd can and a bunch for the 3rd one........It wasn't even one in 3 shots actually.....I NEVER said I hit with each shot.....Even RC 615 yd shot was i believe 3 shots shown, 2 misses then a hit? I am first to say it is very difficult but i could go and do it again but won't as out further now .........I am working for a decent backstop to see misses at 800 yds now and have shot twice at the distance and very difficult........880 yds will be a half mile....

Thank You TPL........Luck doesn't have anything to do with it......Perseverance, planning, hard work, equipment/tools to do the job, execution.......Or the harder you work, the luckier you get

And you are correct, it is NOT EASY..Up to 600 yds was fairly easy, the next jumps have been very difficult.......But i have 3 video's posted here and on my channel at 700 yds so it wasn't a fluke........I have 2 video's not posted at 800 yds. of only 2 hits on RAM................Thanks for your comments....Carl

Nice shooting Carl. Maybe "the end" as you say is 900, 1000, 1100....plus yards until the actual end of it's trajectory.. At that point you'd have to drop the pellet straight down into the open top of the Pepsi can vertically.

The practical limit is when the muzzle blocks out the line of sight.... and you're getting pretty close to that point now....

Thanks............I THINK i will be able to go to 880 yds and that will be 1/2 mile......The gun will shoot that far but with my 800 yd video not posted the hits in dirt are sure weaker but the 2 hits on the ram still ring it fairly hard!! But the ARC or MOA is real steep now.......I have a couple of tricks to get that far yet but accuracy or the bullet SPREAD is getting wide
