RWS 34 Review from a Newbie.

This is my first airrifle and I'm very happy to have chosen the RWS 34! At first it took some getting use to, but after some practice and some minor adjustments, I'm happy. I have only dialed it in for 15 yards, but thats the distance of my feeders from the house and the weather is rather cold to bench shoot. I have now roughly 300 shots through it, seems to function very good. Today I shot 8 Pineys and 2 of them were shot standing off hand, this is why I bought a pellet gun to reduce the population of these destructive little beast, silently. Sure is a strange sound when the pellet makes contact with them little squirrels. I have several rifles and shot guns, but I'm now a pellet gunner for life, its extremely addictive.
Thanks to everyone who gave me guidance in another thread I posted.

Well, thinking of another gate's thread, just don't shoot yourself in the nose.
I'm not surprised you like the 34 and welcome to the club!

They are sweet stooters. Was shooting my 34 .22 sunday @ 40 yards open sites. Hitting my 1 inch steel targets was not a problem.
Congrats on your new German girl!
BTW When your ready try a JM GRT kit. Super smooth and 700+ FPS

Sam,
Congratulations on joining the 34 fan club! It's membership is far reaching because of the quality and durability Diana puts in it.
This model (in either caliber) lends itself well to hunting applications The .177 is an extremely flat shooting penetrator that will easily take small game and pest bird species at considerable ranges. The .22 is good for the larger species and anchors them well out to 30 yards. Both calibers exhibit good accuracy.
Takedown for Service and Modification is straightforward and only requires a good mainspring compressor and a set of punches. It's a good idea to get the rifle lubed well, early in it's life cycle as the factory tends to ship them rather dry. Preformance and longivity are gained by a simple Lube-Tune and don't forget the Barrel's pivot bolt and surrounding surfaces.
Generally speaking the 34 is about the best bang for your buck in the airgun world, it's very versitile and sturdy with a good reputation for accuracy.
Good choice!

i have owned a 34 for several years and mine is the only rifle i enjoy shooting with either open sights or scope. In .177 is a laser, shooting meisterkulgens or domes at high 800s... very accurate. open sight is sighted at 30 yards and it will hit a 1 inch spinner more often than not. it is a great hunter, light and easy to shoulder, as well as very quiet. with a scope i set cans at 100 yards and regularly drop them (still going right thru). it is the ultimate "if i only had one rifle..."
