Transformation of a TX200

Since the o-ring was bulging do you think it possible to push the oring back into position?  Could this be the result of cleaning the barrel.  Maybe whatever was pushed down the tube to clean the barrel pulled the oring out some?

I tried pressing it back into place but it wasn't going.  The only things used for cleaning is a short section of a drinking straw and a crown saver.  The o-rings in that shroud are tough and I'm confident the cleaning process didn't cause the bulge.  It actually appeared to be more of a ruptured piece sticking out, but again I am confident it wasnt caused by cleaning.  It took me over an hour to work that rupture down with my file.

Any idea what they are made of?  Are they steel or a hard polymer?

Not metal.  Appears to be dense rubbee rings.

 I got a chance to take a look down the barrel of my TX 200 today. I found the exact same bulge in the same position as Steve found on Stihlpros TX. Could account for why the TX is not grouping very well. 
The bulge is approx .20" from the end of the barrel. Looks like I know what my next project is and how to do it. I'll post how I made out and the results after I'm done.

Sorry to hear that Marty, but at least it is a fixable problem.  Just make sure your file is larger than bore, and tape it off so as not to damage the other rings.  Another important thing, scrub out the shroud and clean that barrel good after your done.  I cleaned the bore with Ballistol and patches using my crown saver, but accuracy at 30 yards was horrible.  Ran a bronze brush through it for a few passes, then the crown saver with Ballistol followed by dry patches.....accuracy restored   That rubber dust must really get embedded down in the rifling around the bore and Ballistol soaked patches didn't get it out.
