What kind of scope

I have 2 pump type guns in .177. It seems that every rifle scope I put on them will not keep zero.

When I refer to rifle scope I am talking scopes I would use on say .22 LR, .17 HMR and .223 cal.

Some where I read or was told that rifle scopes will not do good on air guns due to the shock of the gun.

I have zeroed them in at 25 yds but can not place 2 or 3 shots in the same place.

Then I start getting off center and adjust the scope and then it is all over again.

I'm just about ready to ditch the air gun and get out the .17 HMR

Termanology can get kind of confusing with anything.  When I see or hear the term pump type of airguns.  I think of pneumatic airguns.  Could be single or multi pump airguns. 
The only type of airguns that have scope damaging double recoil are spring piston or gas piston airguns.
If its a pneumatic type you should not have scope breaking problems.  May be loose stock screws, bad or dirty barrel,  bad seals etc.
If it is a spring type airgun you need a spring airgun rated scope.  JMO

I was refering to the air pump up guns.

Now your term of "double recoil are spring piston or gas piston airgun" I think of the barrel break type guns (like Gamo, Ruger, winchester, etc)

I will be buying one of this type gun and it comes with a scope but heard some bad things about the scope.

So, do I need a special type scope than say a Redfield, or Nikkon???

I have been in both Gander and Cabella's and could not find a scope rated for air guns....

Multi pump guns should not have a recoil like the springer type guns so any scope should be able to be used. 

Does it stay in a good group without the scope?

Are you using bb's or pellets?

EDIT: Not every scope will say on the box if it is air gun rated or not, some companies make their scopes able to stand both types of recoil.  Centerpoint, UTG/Leapers and many more.

I would guess you are having a parallax problem.  Most rifle scope sre set to a minimum of 50 yards or even 100. Look into a scope you can adjust the parallax.

I use 2-6x24 100yd fixed parallax down to 8yds without any so called parallax error? You do need trigger time/practice. Parallax is only a problem using high magnification with tiny targets smaller than the parallax error itself, the reason why big game scopes don't have parallax correction. Big game kill zone at nominal range is always larger than parallax error or else all rifle scopes would have required parallax adjustment.

 How much parallax error does a 2x or 4x or 10x 100yd parallax scope have at 10, 20 or 30 yards typical airgun hunting range anyway? Of course the 10x will be out of focus, but my 2-4x is focused good enough to see and destroy grasshoppers less than 10yds.

@3x with paralax zero of about 30 yards, my paralax error at 10 yards if I'm VERY careful to seek the center is under 1/4".  If i rush the shot and only go for the cheek weld it can exceed 3/4" (usually translates to a missed crow).

  You can get a modest scope with AO (adjustable parallax) for around $30. I have a Winchester 4 power with AO and it works well. There is a Winchester 2x7 with AO for around $40. There are also some scopes, like a Centerpoint 4x32mm that have an adjustasble eyepiece, which I need to get the crosshairs in focus. This scope, though it is not an AO scope, does have a way you can adjust the focus on the objective lens. I screwed off the front most round piece from the scope. There under that is the lens mounted on a ring that turns to move the front objective lens forwards and back, till the target is in good focus. Then reinstall the front piece, which locks it in place. Now, everything looks sharp.

You might want to try different pellets. Many rifles will shoot great with certain pellets and very poorly with others, especially as the range stretches out past 20 yards. The 7.5 grainers might not work well in your rifles.

+1 check your focus/parallax. +1 on trying different pellets.

Also, check the rifle for any movement. If you are attaching the scope to the receiver, check to see if the barrel moves around.

 Put the scopes on the rimfire and try some 10 or 20yd shots to prove you don't have a parallax problem.  Make sure the rifle barrels are clean, clean 'em for sure if new and you haven't ever cleaned them.

It should be said that good focus and zero parallax can easily be two different things. Sometimes I see a wide area of adjustment where focus is good and have to play the head-bob game and keep adjusting until the cross hairs stay aimed at the same point...
