OK shooters, after watching some of GTA's gun reviews I was wondering what type of Glass you have mounted on you're air rifles, do you love it, and at what ranges you shoot?
I for one Have the MTC Viper 6-24 on the Cricket and shoot out to 112 yards (and i use 10x or 16x exclusively) love the Christmas tree design for windage, view is not cluttered with stuff imaging is clear for most lighting conditions has a little trouble with dusk, haven't shot at dawn, the turret adjustments seems squirrelly when i first attempted to use so now i just use hold over and under and it very accurate zero is 25/38 and for the most part I LOVE IT, It is a bit pricey for most but less than the Hawke stuff.
The s510 has a leapers UTG 4-16 full mil-dot (no half and since the turret works so great I will shoot any magnification power) image is great thru out the day and early evening, turret adjustment is spot on and use it more than hold over or hold under, i shoot her out to about 90 yards (mid power setting), zero is 17/32, view is cluttered with mil-dots have about 10 aiming points horizontal and vertical with no easy way to identify the 5th mil-dots and for the most part I JUST LIKE IT. It was reasonable price for most.
The Sidewinder Varmint are not using right now and don't remember why i pulled it off, guess it was just mediocre at best, it was pricey for most but they say you get what you pay for (not in this case). Right now dream list consist of only one scope which would be the Sidewinder TAC 30 which seems like the most popular choice but pricey.

I am using a BSA 4-14x44MRAD scope on my .177 Marauder. It is in the $250.00 range (from Midway). The two things about this scope that I just love are the First Focal Plane (FFP) reticle and 1/10 mil turrets. The reticle can be used for ranging at any magnification (due to being in the first focal plane) and 1/10 mil turrets make the math easy (1.5 mil off requires 15 clicks in the appropriate direction). 1/2 mil hashes on the glass etched reticle are a nice touch and the reticle is quite fine. The scope is a side focus unit and goes down to 10yds, making it appropriate for air rifle use. I have used it accurately out to about 40 yards, which is as far as I can go in my back yard. But it is built for powder burners and I am sure capable a good distance further than I use it for.
My gripe with the scope is that at full magnification (14x), I experience a fair amount of chromatic aberration. I usually back it out to around 13x and it is as clear as moonshine. However, this scope tracks without "stiction" (I make an adjustment and there is no settling in) and it tracks really well. The other thing about this scope is that the eye relief is really exact (unforgiving) and I find myself getting a good sight picture and not wanting to take my head off the rifle stock for fear of spending a few seconds regaining that perfect position.
But for the money, I will get another on my next rifle. If your budget affords it, the Falcon Menace may be a slightly higher quality version of the same scope available at SWFA for about $100.00 more (I don't have one, so cannot comment on the quality). But FFP and 1/10 MIL combo make it a pretty good bargain at $250.00, if you ask me.

Thanks for your input. I go back and forth with FFP verses SFP I ususally stick to one mag setting map it out, and then just stick with it. But I like the thought of having options.
