Disco fill adapter.

So my one year old fill adapter on my .25 Carbine started leaking.  The fill adapter on my Disco didn't leak until it hit the 2 year mark---and that's using a Benji pump only.  So I took it apart and there are some differences.  The plunger in the nipple adapter is smaller than the one on my Disco.  And seems they went to using a black Teflon tape.  Here are some pics for the guys who can't read---sorry, technically inclined. 

Oh, by the way, the last pic shows the crud that was in the adapter---DO NOT ASK, I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT IT IS OR HOW IT GOT THERE!

I've been using white Teflon tape with no problems.

LOL...the seaweed stuff is the black Teflon tape the used to seal the nipple.

I use the white Teflon tape, too.

  The problem with most teflon tape is it should never be wrapped over the first 3 starter threads when installing any threaded fittings otherwise it can find its way into places where it can cause the above problem

A retired Duck was my instructor for a two year HVAC/R class I took back in the early 80s. He use to always say Teflon is a lubricant , not a sealant. I was a Jarhead attached to the Navy for security work. We got along fine. He preferred thread sealant over Teflon tape or paste.

I use black Rector seal it never hardens , always stays semi tacky so vibration proof thread seal and good for HPA applications. It can be picked up in any decent plumbing supply house and also good for use to seal combustable gas pipe threads

Is it easy to remove or permanent?

  Although it remains tacky any threaded fittings can be disassembled without difficulty sort of like blue Loctite in that respect
