Recommend .177 pellets for Weihrauch HW30S

I have an HW30S that hopefully will show up next week (presently out of stock at Pyramid but is to ship on the 30th), but I know practically nothing about pellets and I need to get some. If I understand correctly, I will need to break the rifle in, and I should get medium grain pellets, something in the 7-8 range. It seems that JSB Exacts are good, but I don't know much else.

What specific pellets would you recommend for the break-in period and then for target/plinking and occasional squirrel which we want to keep out of our garden?

Its hard to use much other then JSB...but some rifles aer different.

JSB RS 7.3s or JSB exact 8.4s are both great in my R7s.

I think the 7.3 RS are an ideal match for the power of the R7.

Try JSB Express 7.87 grains or JSB RS 7.33 grains.  Domed pellets are best.  Use the same pellets during break in as you would shooting targets later on.  Why waste shooting time and pellets during any break in period?  Your HW need not be inaccurate at that time.

JSB 7.33 seem to yield the best results.... 7.87 =$$$ and usually work . 8.44 work well too...

I recommend getting domed pellets for all-around shooting.  They are good aerodynamically and tend to do well at longer ranges and function just fine at short ranges too.  Like others have stated, JSB pellets are a great place to start as they are domed.  They are also soft, pure lead, so they tend to be slightly faster in my R7s, (even vs. pellets slightly lighter) than harder pellets with other metal alloyed.  For example, I have many Weihrauch rifles that shoot JSB Exact 8.4gr pellets very close to the same speed as the Crosman Premier Hollow Points (CPHP) in 7.9gr.  So, start your tests and break in with some quality domed pellets, as you will likely have great accuracy with most, and exceptional accuracy with at least a few to start.  Here are the quality domes I'd suggest you try:

JSB Exact 8.4
JSB Express 7.9
JSB RS 7.3
H&N Field Target Trophy 8.64 (FTT for short)
RWS Superdome 8.3
Crosman Premier Hollow Point (CPHP) 7.9

Later down the road, try some of the Crosman cardboard boxed Crosman Premier Lights 7.9gr (CPL).  These come in large boxes and are very similar to the CPHPs, but just lack the tiny dimple on the nose of the "hollow points".  I'd get a sample from somebody on the GTA rather than buying a full box to start. 

If for some weird reason none of the above pellets shoot very well, then you can start trying some of the wadcutters out there and maybe some of the Crosman pointed pellets or something.  I think the above list would have at least one that performs stellar in your new rifle.

My HW30S shoots everything very well but JSB RS 7.33 grain pellets are off the charts.  This is the only rifle I have that I can say a JSB pellet shoots exceptionally well.  Any other rifle I find JSB to be good but usually something better.

For break-in, the Benjamin hollow point is essentially the same as the Crosman Premier Hollow Point.  Walmart currently has them for $9.96 for a tin of 750.  Probably in your local store and if not it's free store pickup.  They also have the RWS sampler for more than $3 less than Pyramyd (though no 4 for 3 deal).  Pyramyd has the H&N Excite sampler pack due in stock in early June.

Crosman Wadcutters, Crosman Hunting Pellets, RWS Superdomes my 30s likes-em all. Amazon has the Wadcutters/Hunting pellets in carton for 14.99. 1250 pellets in a carton is a bargain and the pellets are in decent shape.
