Finally!
Was able to get out, clear out the weeds and make a new shooting lane: 104yrds!
Yeah, just squeeking into the club, but seeing as this is my first go at real long range with a M-rod, figure it was a good start.

I am a hunter, so don't think I dislike shooting critters, especially critters I can eat.

The ranges being talked about here make me question how many animals are hit and dive into their holes. I'm not trying to start an argument and you are welcome to shoot whatever you want, as I have also done in the past.

The thing that I want you to consider, and no offense is intended at all because I (an old man) have done the same, but I want you to consider that at the ranges you are discussing you cripple more than you kill.

Maybe this kind of (admittedly) brilliant shooting should be done on paper? It is a question worth asking.

I'm thinking a standardized target... What I am trying to say is this, you should shoot paper at these ranges because flesh is alive. We kill to eat. If we cripple and fail to kill, there is no logical reason to feel we have been successful, except maybe in the case of vermin. Even then we have to ask ourselves if we have been humane.

Please don't get angry with me. Just think about it. Maybe this thread is best served shooting paper?

I would say you can join the club if you can shoot under two MOA at 100 yards. I can make a target for that if someone wants it.

Thanks for your input MicErs. Yeah maybe it should just be paper. When I go out for P-Dawgs, I always go for head, spine or chest, depending on range. Unfortunately, a lot of the Dawgs do make it back to their holes. We are pesting for a landowner and we try to 'one shot, one kill' every shot we take. Some shooters will be as ethical as possible, some will just shoot to shoot. I don't long range when I hunt for meat.

Bottom of a soda can is pretty easy prey for the .25 Condor at 100 yards lasered. Even the Hatsan 125 has scored a few hits at that range on a can floating in a water puddle. There have been several days lately with no wind at all in North GA so the long range shots are easier. No fur or feathers but that can bled Mountain Dew all over the place...

Very well put Michael, very well put indeed.

I've been doing the long range shooting thing for a while now & all I can say is that it is a challenge, the kind of challenge you put to yourself. & its a difficult challenge to boot. But the rewards are soooo satisfying when you realize what you've accomplished & then you challenge yourself all over again.

I find orange balloons make for excellent targets when doing long range shooting.
I need to start making vids when I go out shooting.

Went back to the original post of this thread . . . and saw I did not met the requirments!
Oh, darn. I have to go back out and shoot all over again . . . well . . . that is how I sold it to the wife!

Used H&N Baracuda Match .22 Cal, 21.14 Grains this time. Last time the wind was pushing the JSBs to the left.
Re-zeroed at 30yrds.
Then extended out to 53yrds to get an idea of much the H&N were dropping compared to the JSBs, was about one mil-dot.
The wife used the range finder to get me to 105yrds. Much easier with someone else there to walk me out to the right yardage.
Used all the mil-dots to try to get on paper. No luck. I could hear it hitting the cardboard. So, 4 clicks up, and I finally hit paper, but was still below the mil-dots. Another 4 clicks and I was at the top of the bottom post in the reticule. Good enough. Took another 5 shots to make sure my adjustments were good, and they were.
Wife was kind enough to hike it down to post a fresh target while I pumped the M-Rod back up to 3k psi.
I took 5 shots for record.

Working with my .22 Marauder, my son hit a hanging pop bottle, in a breeze from stix and a stool at 106 yards 6 in a row and missed the 7th. The cat who lent him an FX Elite 500, and let him manage one hit in three did no better, and the FX got re-barreled with an LW. Going to shoot with those folks again on the 12th...
