I'm not convinced that a pellet will tumble at that range but can see how the hole in the target would suggest such. At those ranges the pellet is dropping as much as it is traveling forward, so the hole will likely appear to be elongated vertically. To see the elongate horizontally would make me more of a believer unless the wind was up. The shuttle cock shape makes the pellet naturally drag stabilize being nose heavy. That is kinda good for the type of shooting that is typically done. This long range stuff is so far outside what the diablo pellet was ever expected to do, it's unbelievable. The diablo pellet is not a good flier when it comes to wind. I suppose there is a point were the spin imparted upon the pellet will produce more force than the drag on the skirt, thus causing a wild yaw that would qualify as tumble. I'm gonna guess you'd have to just about shoot vertical to achieve that. It would be cool to chase a pellet with a GO-PRO wouldn't it? Seeing actual flight through the entire distance would answer a lot of questions for all of us. That would be cool. Kevin
Here is my video of my beginning of long range shooting. Was my first time shooting a video and editing so please be nice I wanted to start at 100 yds to start with and will move out when weather allows. I feel I will be able to move out further, just not sure where I am going to do it. Enjoy the shortest long range shooting allowed with my 100 yard shots with my Condor SS .25!youtu.be/H5Y4pWIDyXU
Jerry,I feel for you. I knew Chicago area was a little anti-gun but didn't know you couldn't shoot outside at all! Move over one state to the west and you are free to shoot outdoors. Just messing with you... I will be doing some 200 yard shots this weekend I hope and will record and post. There are also some Canada geese that need to be shot as well...(with a shotgun of course).
