Question for the math wiz's around here. And please correct my assumptions if they are wrong.

1/2" groups at 20yds, is roughly +4 MOA (if I understand correctly) so at 50yds, the groups will be at least 2" or more. So let's for argument sake say that with a Lasergun (for arguments sake) you as the hunter in the woods, can maybe hold a 1 MOA group at 50yds, your practical group expectancy would be in the +5 MOA realm at 50yds with a +4 MOA rifle.

remember a 4 MOA gun is only 2 inches from where you aimed at 100 yds so it is less at 50 . some think it might be 4 inches at 100

mista meener is correct, if the gun shoots 4 MOA, you will hit within 2" of where you are aiming (at the instant you pull the trigger) at 100 yards, or within 1" at 50 yards.... because that is the radius of the circle.... 4 MOA is a 4" circle at 100 yards or a 2" circle at 50 yards.... Now back to our regularly scheduled review.... *LOL*....

Ok, so I just got a video shooting the BullDog.

I wanted to show the mag loading operation and the lever in action

also I placed the camera real close to the muzzle to try get a perception of the sound.


don't pay attention to the group, it was shot with the 93gr Matt's bullets and that has not proven to be a good round at all.

Seems the perception of the sound is not as loud as I thought it would be, I do know on video sometimes you cannot tell how loud it really is due to some camcorders have a tendency to muffle the sound a little!

Thanks Manny, is the sound about right as what we hear in the video?

If it is as relatively as quite as the video, then Bob should be right: That they are using the internal shroud supports as the baffles, coupled with the volume.

Manny, you have shot a lot of guns. What is the sound close to? I know you said quieter then a Sumatra, but heck, EVERYTHING is quieter then a Sumatra. Close to Marauder quite?

I'm just speculating here, but I think the report is probably louder than the video portrays, and probably far louder than an Mrod.
 I'm guessing this due to if you listen to how quiet the cycling of the lever seems, and compare that to the sound level of the report.
 like I said,... just guessing.

my Stormpup .25 that is considered a loud gun sounds real quiet if shot just after the Dog

I've tryed many time to record airgun sound on video and I think it's always far off, I have a video of me shooting 2 DAQ pistols ( those beasts where VERY LOUD ) and on video they seemed pretty quiet.

Forgot to say great video. So I 100th it, just keep on doing what you are doing.

Also liked the two valley pics along with the short write up you did on the mango trees and the passion fruit vine(had to look up the Hawaiian word). Those few lines and it made it easier for the reader to visualize. Yeah, I could see myself stalking there.

Rather see the gun out in the real world, rather then a room in a warehouse or a concrete bunker at a shooting range. Your enviable location and the fact you are hunting as opposed to just punching paper is what sets you apart.

as a sidenote going back to Friday in the woods, I forgot to mention that the plastic stock is really loud anytime you touch a tree or any plastic or metal parts of my equipment,...not to stoked about that because down in the deep valleys the slightest sound is very loud.

wish Crosman had made the stock in one of them rubberized materials, but I guess that would make the gun more expensive.

If this was mine she would definitely get a coat of Rubberized paint and probably some padding in the inside of the plastic stock to keep noise down.

the microphone in all camcorders tries to equalize the sound (consider it volume leveling)
loud sounds become soft and soft sounds become louder.


on a side note,

the bulldog kind of reminds me of the sound my condor makes,not a ping,

but more of a "pop"  like a soda (or beer, whichever you prefer) bottle being opened.


is it similar to the talonp pistol you said you liked the sound signature of?

With all the rails, you would think they could be used, but in the other hand out looks like wasted expense.  Could have saved money on some of the useless parts.

Nope, nothing like the sound of the Talon, when you're shooting the ping is huge.
